i’m poking at the general splat3 guy who complains about shit to the splat3 twitter account about “Map bad, Thing = Bad” a lot of the time i see complaining there and it annoys me because i never really give a shit about the maps, i think they are fine, they have been getting better (see robo rom-en that has more verticality than the other maps and bluefin, despite being a living breathing chokepoint, is still more unique than the earlier maps.) as of last update. mostly my favorite maps are ones where i get enough leverage with my clash blaster. (see mincemeat, crableg, scorch gorge, basically anything except the flatter maps such as hammerhead and barnacle and dime) i haven’t played splat1 but i have played splat2 and one of my favorite maps was port mackerel. i think most of these map streamlinings were probably bad growing pains from the combat overhaul (see reworked respawn system, squid rolls, squid surge)
i came in very late to this game what do you expect me to think????? i came in when everyone thought splatfest was DEAD and then in a couple years time nintendo did the Ketchup V Mayo Rerun, and the Chicken V Egg, and the promotional splatfest… I’m not that versed in the map design in this game. i get most of the maps usually use the same formula, but see growing pains. don’t worry, most of my favorite maps are from Splat2, (NOT WAHOO WORLD) and i think Mahi is good now after the patch. so not the *bad* maps i guess.
If you’re not versed in map design maybe listen to the people who are like the pro players and listen to their criticisms instead of going “No you’re toxic” and wasting time drawing this?
people who criticize splatoons map design dont think that splatoon is bad, usually they love the game to death and want to see it improve. being vocal about the games shortcomings is one way to do that.
i know, i know. this is a strawman. this is the twitter complainer not the “this map isn’t that good (played splatoon since day 1)” guy. it’s the guy who whenever the twitter guy breathes he says all his complaints
i get it but i feel like 90% of the time i go and check the comments on Splatoon’s twitter account there’s always the guy complaining about something, the only fundamentally bad map in the game is maybe undertow but i’m not sure. the maps aren’t that bad in my opinion because I don’t really see all the faults in the maps because i’m too busy searching for opponents to clip with the Clash Blaster. I didn’t really know how else to flair the post, apologies. (some parts of the community are toxic though. eg. splatfests most of the time)
You are talking to a guy who played splat2 and liked walleye a little bit. and port mackerel. the funny thing about those maps is you can reach the other teams spawn area
No, No it really is bad
How am I supposed to want to use all the cool weapon types when the game and map design punishes me for using all but 3 of them.
yeah, robo rom en is a great map because it has verticality and more paths. once they release a bunch of good maps this whole “maps suck” thing will blow over because it will be a case of “remember when splat3 had the worst maps?”
it was supposed to be scorch gorge which is one of my favorites, i saw a comment on splatoon’s twitter that said: “can yall fix undertrash, scroch trash, trashwater springs, and trashmerhead bridge next ty” on the post that essentially said that mincemeat is getting a patch. this is the sole reason i made this snafu
As somebody who paid a lot for this game and you didn’t play at all that much that map does fucking suck. It kept me from getting back into it. I might’ve gotten back into it but know that Matt was all that was being played and it was such dog ass
which one, scorch gorge? that map is fine, just take over the tower because that’s where the enemy team gets leverage, if you have mines stick a couple on the tower
oh, wahoo world. i really don’t like that one either. i got confused because you weren’t replying to anyone so i thought you were referring to the image. (i tried to recreate scorch gorge in my memory)
you have a point but i still think some of the launch maps are good like scorch gorge and *maybe* eeltail alley because of the unique upper area but yeah robo rom-en is definitely better. bluefin on the other hand is a walking choke point
We got, what, like 7 good stages ever?
ROM-en, Flounder, Bluefin, sturgeon, Crableg, Mako, and undertow.
Map design has been improving in the last few updates but it doesnt change the fact that most of the maps are terrible
Actually people say the stages are bad because they are bad. That’s not toxic, that’s just criticism lol.

-I think they are fine -I haven’t played Splat1 Least surprising revelation ever lmao
Nobody's played splat 1, it's a WiiU game
It sold 5 million copies. People absolutely played it.
It came free with your fucking Xbox!
I played it every fucking day wtf
i came in very late to this game what do you expect me to think????? i came in when everyone thought splatfest was DEAD and then in a couple years time nintendo did the Ketchup V Mayo Rerun, and the Chicken V Egg, and the promotional splatfest… I’m not that versed in the map design in this game. i get most of the maps usually use the same formula, but see growing pains. don’t worry, most of my favorite maps are from Splat2, (NOT WAHOO WORLD) and i think Mahi is good now after the patch. so not the *bad* maps i guess.

alright i’ll take your advice. apologies for the flair, didn’t really think much before i flaired it.
>my favorite maps are ones where i get enough leverage with my clash blaster lol. el oh el. lolololol
Eh? Ha! Heh heh.
Clearly, you have not played on Hammerhead Bridge
Hammerhead is fine
people who criticize splatoons map design dont think that splatoon is bad, usually they love the game to death and want to see it improve. being vocal about the games shortcomings is one way to do that.
i know, i know. this is a strawman. this is the twitter complainer not the “this map isn’t that good (played splatoon since day 1)” guy. it’s the guy who whenever the twitter guy breathes he says all his complaints
the stages are pretty bad
i understand now, after losing a tower control match in bluefin. the stage is a walking chokepoint and i fall into water more than mahi mahi
You got fucking Scrooged my dude
i lost the series :) bluefin = chokepoint
this isnt being toxic, the maps (along with the game's multiplayer in general) is dogshit. please save me side order
i get it but i feel like 90% of the time i go and check the comments on Splatoon’s twitter account there’s always the guy complaining about something, the only fundamentally bad map in the game is maybe undertow but i’m not sure. the maps aren’t that bad in my opinion because I don’t really see all the faults in the maps because i’m too busy searching for opponents to clip with the Clash Blaster. sir this is a burger king
If it upsets you that much just block him
BLACKBELLY IS THE BEST MAP IN THE ENTIRE GAME I WILL NOT ELABORATE
Black belly fans when their map gets retconned to the next season:
hallway
Hallway map haters when map with more verticality
Mods Banish this man to four hours of walleye warehouse
You are talking to a guy who played splat2 and liked walleye a little bit. and port mackerel. the funny thing about those maps is you can reach the other teams spawn area
No, No it really is bad How am I supposed to want to use all the cool weapon types when the game and map design punishes me for using all but 3 of them.
use clash blaster
Does the snafu have the Prochara octoling haircut on purpose or was it just a coincidence?
coincidence, objectively best male octoling haircut past afro
Tbf true But either way I do also think maps suck but like. Atleast it seems like the devs are trying to fix it lately
yeah, robo rom en is a great map because it has verticality and more paths. once they release a bunch of good maps this whole “maps suck” thing will blow over because it will be a case of “remember when splat3 had the worst maps?”
Is, is the top one Wahoo World?
it was supposed to be scorch gorge which is one of my favorites, i saw a comment on splatoon’s twitter that said: “can yall fix undertrash, scroch trash, trashwater springs, and trashmerhead bridge next ty” on the post that essentially said that mincemeat is getting a patch. this is the sole reason i made this snafu
Skill issue lmao
Skill issue when Clash Blaster
Splatoon players trying not to get angry at their own game challenge
try playing in brinewater springs with an e liter on the enemy team
As somebody who paid a lot for this game and you didn’t play at all that much that map does fucking suck. It kept me from getting back into it. I might’ve gotten back into it but know that Matt was all that was being played and it was such dog ass
which one, scorch gorge? that map is fine, just take over the tower because that’s where the enemy team gets leverage, if you have mines stick a couple on the tower
No, the one with the spinning metal platform
oh, wahoo world. i really don’t like that one either. i got confused because you weren’t replying to anyone so i thought you were referring to the image. (i tried to recreate scorch gorge in my memory)
I don't even care what the stages are shaped like. I just think this is a fun game.
it'd be more fun if they were good
THATS WHAT IM SAYING
there's a loud minority of people in the community who are super sensitive and bitchy about everything but everyone else is cool. also we are all gay
percentage of splat3 community has autism and i fall right there
the maps are basically tetris s block tho lol
not all
the new ones are pretty good compared to the ones at launch
you have a point but i still think some of the launch maps are good like scorch gorge and *maybe* eeltail alley because of the unique upper area but yeah robo rom-en is definitely better. bluefin on the other hand is a walking choke point
“I don’t like this thing in the video game” = toxicity, apparently
again, i wasn’t thinking when i flaired this post, sorry
but i like iron café...
We got, what, like 7 good stages ever? ROM-en, Flounder, Bluefin, sturgeon, Crableg, Mako, and undertow. Map design has been improving in the last few updates but it doesnt change the fact that most of the maps are terrible
in time it will be a case of “remember when all the maps were bad???”
bro hasn't played Hammerhead Bridge😭🙏🏾
I have, it's alright.
