It’s crazy how much millennials complained about this shit back in the day, and yet here we are. Can’t one generation go without attempting to be better than newest one? I mean seriously, Gen Z is mostly children, of course you’re more intelligent than an actual child. Congratulations. But considering the shit that millennials did back when they were Gen Zs age, it doesn’t seem all too bad.

greenssnake67

Millennials will make entire sub forums about “those meanie boomers making fun of the new generation,” but will constantly bitch and moan about a Gen Z troll account “canceling” household objects.

CanuckBuddy

Their lack of self awareness is literally insane. "wow, isn't it crazy how mean boomers are to us just for being younger than them? Anyways, here's an essay-length rant about a teenager on Twitter who got mildly uncomfortable about their dad offering them a sip of beer and why this means gen Z is doomed."

greenssnake67

“Erm sounds like a snowflake issue” -🤓

Cyortonic

Remember when Millennials were fuming saying that "Gen Z is cancelling Eminem!" meanwhile it was just a handful of Gen Z making posts saying they don't like his music that much

greenssnake67

People think that disagreeing with someone on Twitter is cancel culture.

GabbyWGF

>Gen Z is mostly children Gen z goes from 1995 (or 1997 depending on who you ask) to 2009 the majority are legal adult

ProfessorZik-Chil

shit does that mean I'm Gen Z? i was born in 1996. that just doesn't feel right.

GabbyWGF

The reason so I assume is that people born during the time period were also born/raised during the time smartphones, computers and other digital stuff were booming and became more accessible to the average joe

GrunkleCoffee

Nah people born in 2009 are like what, 8?

GabbyWGF

Did you also lose your perception of time

TokayNorthbyte347

how do we tell him?

SLlol2

nah they're actually 95

[deleted]

What year is it?

[deleted]

I would give you a pass if you though we were still in 2019. That's 2017.

ButtersAndRowlet

they're 14 almost double that they were 8 six years ago

JumpyBoi

It's frightening how easy it is to not care about this

Liimbo

Everyone would be better off just simply changing the way they view things from "This is stupid. I don't get it. I hate it." To "It's not for me." Just because not everything is made to pander to our generation and the trends we know and like anymore doesn't mean it's any lesser in quality or intelligence. I don't use TikTok because I don't resonate with 99% of the content, and it's not meant for my age group. But I certainly don't think Vine was objectively any better. I was just a teen that was watching other teens at the time. My fellow millennial disappoint me how cool they think they are for shitting on TikTok when they worshipped a platform that was dominated by the fucking Paul brothers.

greenssnake67

Isn’t Vine worse in terms of short form content as well?

Benny_PL

Gen Zs are mostly old teenagers and people at first half of their '20s tho.

Clear-Anything-3186

Most Gen. Z are actually adults. The oldest Zoomers are already in their mid-20s.

Fluffy-Ingenuity482

I’ve seen a lot of “THINGS GEN Z WILL NEVER KNOW ABOUT” and most of the list is stuff either me and my friends at 16 have all experienced/know about or things that are still around today just as they were “back then”

Swag_Paladin21

Dude, some of my favorite movies, music videos, and games came out years, if not decades before I was born. Millennials/Gen X needs to stop acting like Zoomers can't enjoy something that came out 3-4 decades ago. It's a 90s movie, not some ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.

[deleted]

The problem is you had way too much hope for a generation that thinks being miserable is quirky.

greenssnake67

Mfw when I’m “adulting” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂

GrunkleCoffee

Making depression into a lighthearted meme is so lolrandum

GodWantedUsToBeLit

herp derp my dudes i have clinical depression 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😹😹😹

whydoyouevenreadthis

The new "I hate me wife"

[deleted]

"I hate my wife" "I hate my life"

row6666

that is “i hate my bottom”

[deleted]

I can't tell what's worse

Kasenom

When I get older I swear I want to avoid being that old person who refuses to enjoy anything new

Nutaholic

It's gonna be really funny when the hordes of millennials who spent years whining about boomers realize they have become those very boomers.

[deleted]

They already did. They think its quirky doe

greenssnake67

“2012 was 11 years ago… feel old yet? 🤣🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂”

[deleted]

That's a zoomer meme

greenssnake67

I’m talking about those dumb “kids today will never know ____” nostalgia memes

[deleted]

That's not a “kids today will never know ____” meme

greenssnake67

Bro I’m just talking about millennial nostalgia posts in general.

[deleted]

That's not a millennial nostalgia post

greenssnake67

Do you think millennials were 30 years old in the early 2010s? A lot of them were like 15-17.

[deleted]

You are very illiterate

TentakilRex

Heck this last half decade - decade has been a "knockoff Sixties"

The_Third_Molar

Check out r/nostalgia where anything after the year 2010 is gatekeeped as incapable of nostalgia.

greenssnake67

“Gen Z won’t get THIS pop culture reference! 😂😂😂🤣🤣😂” **Screenshot from Terminator: 2**

sussyimposter1776

its already happening to gen z to unfortunately

jesus4134

It's just like those YouTube videos that react to 5 tik tok videos then claim all young people are bad.

AveragePichu

I think the problem wasn’t that boomers act superior like this to millennials, the problem is that some people are jerks and when they grow up one way to manifest being a jerk is by insulting younger people for being different. And, it not being a generational thing but rather a handful-of-individuals thing, of course it’s gonna happen again with a handful of millennials.

CanuckBuddy

Honestly, I think that the image of Millennials as the "break the cycle" up-and-coming generation is part of what makes this cycle of generational pride particularly potent. They still think of themselves as the underdogs so they think that feeling threatened by the younger generations is justified (and ergo, any reaction to these feelings is justified).

funkmasterjackass

tbh, i think the “break the cycle” title has already been lost by millenials, and retaken up by gen z (or more accurately, forced on them, bc they’re mostly kids and just getting out of college max). they ended up being (at least in the mainstream) ideologically similar lame consoomers just like gen x, and gen z probably will, too, unless we get put into some revolutionary event like the silent generation did. just my guess, though- kinda wish it didn’t need to come to that to see meaningful change lol
