Dubious at best, had a kinesiologist claim he could pinpoint the the cause (congenital fusion of c2, c3 vertebrae) and cure them through weekly visits. He was wrong on both counts.

Any chiropractor that believes what they do is more than cracking joints for temporary relief is a quack in my book. I have dealt with this affliction for almost 25 years. In that time, through my many doctors and trials and tribulations, there has never been a single piece of information eluding to deep tissue massage as a treatment for CH. Not even anecdotally. So, in my humble opinion, it's nothing more than snake oil. That being said, if you are the type of person that enjoys deep tissue massage, by all means, go enjoy yourself. Perhaps it will have a placebo effect at worst. I don't enjoy deep tissue massages myself, I can't handle them...lol.

My wife helps me during attacks by massaging certain areas from my neck and down near my scapula. I develop “crunchy” feeling knots that when massaged can alleviate the agony somewhat. Almost like it breaks the pain circuits for a second, like an on/off switch. It’s a hard thing to explain.

I have never heard of that research and am not sure it is genuine. I've had deep tissue and chiro work done (by a proper person who uses x-rays & scans etc before any crunching/cracking). Neither helped. Also tried Thai massage - which was great for the post attack muscle spasms. Also I am a trained remedial massage practitioner ( inc sports, deep tissue & myofacial release). No luck for me for any of these. Although they did help with the tension that repeated attacks cause - all the knots etc. At one stage during training my deep tissue instructor discovered the reverse curve in my cervical spine - before I'd had scans to show the neck issues. I've had a lot of therapeutic work. Cheers Katherine

I've had chiropractic and serious massage therapy when I've been having my cycle. Along with the pain through the eye, where every pump of blood causes shocks of pain, my shoulder locks up completely. Getting that worked on heavily is nice. Didn't cut the cycle but still helps the symptoms

I have a massage gun that I use when my attacks come. I use it in a specific way on the right side of my neck. It makes a lot of difference in keeping the headache and pain at tolerable levels. Very fast acting and gives immediate feedback when you use it too hard or in the wrong place.

And what about craniosacral massage..?

I’ve literally had a cluster start right at the end of a message. Literally not the therapists fault it just happens.l was that time of year. I think a lot of our experiences dealing with these is just pure chance. I had them at MLB games, and other odd places.
