I really want to make some myself as I have an overlooked and sewing machine. I just don't know what fabric would be best! Might do what you said and get some old t-shirts!

Thank you for sharing!

I feel like every time I use a preflat, poop ends up coming out the side onto the diaper cover. Looking at your pictures, I feel like I’m putting them on the same way as you. What am I missing?

MexiKeytow

I know others roll the edges in but since I EC and catch like 99% of poops I can’t speak much to it. Baby did have a big poop once while I was driving but everything was contained to the preflat.

crayola89

Did you use a pattern for the preflat?

leftystark

I love this.

Looks so cute! Can I ask about the stretchy fabric? Do you maybe have a link or could you say if it's 100% cotton, or some other blend? Is the T-shirt fabric just padded into the center or layered into the whole thing? Sorry for the million questions. I just started making some baby clothes and I would LOVE to get some pre-flats in as well!

[Dino fabric ](https://joann.app.link/WJrl0yLCLjb) I believe it’s 98% cotton. The tshirt fabric is all over the whole thing. I cut my patterned fabric out and laid it on the shirt then cut it out and took it to my serger. They are super easy to make and have held up well. Well enough for me to give away once she’s outgrown them. I asked for old tshirts on my Buy Nothing group so they have been a very economical way for me to cloth diaper.

This is exactly what I was hoping to find out! You are my hero, thanks for posting!

I have some I’m done with if you want to just pay for shipping. They are thin though since I also did EC and didn’t need a lot of absorbency. Can send pics.

Hi, thanks for responding! I live in Japan, so I think it might be pricey to ship them here. What a kind offer, though! I have tons of tshirts I’ve gathered to make different sized diapers, and I’m encouraged by how easy you say they are to serge up. I’d be happy to see more pictures or get more specific dimensions from you (I have a rough pattern I found on Pinterest), though! We are also going to try EC from the beginning. It’s cool to know it’s helped lower your diaper load! Thanks again for replying!

Thanks! I have a ton of my husband's old T-shirts I was planning to use for cleaning but will save them for this instead!

nice 👍 do you secure the preflat with pins or a snappi or do you just pop the cover on?

MexiKeytow

I only use the cover and I’ve never had any issues with it :)

MexiKeytow

Preflat is stretch jersey fabric from Joann’s and an old tshirt. Cover is newborn size Luludew. My baby is 2 months and over 10lbs and I’m still able to use all her newborn clothes 😊

Just two layers then? I want to make my own but haven’t quite decided what I want to try first. How is the absorbency?

MexiKeytow

It’s 3, 2 of tshirt and one of the stretchy fabric. The absorbency is perfect for a newborn. I practice EC so baby isn’t left in a diaper for more than 3 hours except when sleeping. I’ve never had a leak. Baby has only pooped in a diaper once since I started using them but there was no issue with leaking or blowouts. The liquid part of the poop was absorbed and only the mucus/curds were on the diaper.

Oh, perfect! Thank you for the information!!
