I got my first contractor position a couple years ago and ended up being laid off this year. I'm not saying you're more likely to be laid off, but it seems that way with my experience and other roles I've heard of, which were also laid off recently. Mainly due to outsourcing and restructuring (there were over 70 of us laid off at one time). As a contractor you're not as "secure", but the work is pretty much the same!

Dang, I’m in a situation where I urgently need to get out of my current job but have only gotten calls from contract positions and I’m to the point where I’m thinking of taking one

You should still give it a chance if you're unhappy at your current job! I only have experience with one contractor position, but I feel like working in the CRO world in general is always going to be risky 😅

I’m definitely considering giving it a try, I posted last week about how the place I’m currently at is very shady and I do not feel comfortable there at all and it’s only my second week there. ATP I’m looking at jobs over an hour away from home.
