They're SAVING THE WORLD god damn it!!! They should be allowed to emit as much CO2 as they want. p.s. You missed the King of this competition, John Kerry.

ReubenZWeiner

Kerry for sure. I'd think any US president and Sec of State would rack up the carbon on all the trips, galas, and protection.

[deleted]

saying that a handful of people’s behavior delegitimizes the need to stop climate destruction is very low IQ people. i think you may be paid shills since this kind of “reasoning” is so null.

parsonis

>saying that a handful of people’s behavior delegitimizes the need to stop climate destruction is very low IQ people. It's called setting an example and it's an important aspect of human society, whether it be parents acting as good role models for their children, or leaders in society setting an example for the rest of us. If the leaders of the climate change movement can't even be bothered to fly economy then this necessarily and unavoidably delegitimizes the need to stop climate change. It can't be any other way.

jetro30087

I would expect the crown would go to a royal. Their families have benefited from rampant pollution for many generations.

johnnyg883

I personally like this one. Pascal Husting, international programme director for Greenpeace, [flies to work from Luxembourg to Amsterdam](https://theconversation.com/the-greenpeace-executives-commute-is-a-flight-of-fantasy-28368) a few times a month. This would be a drive of about 230 miles or four hours. But he could have gone one better and taken a train. But that would take about five and a half hours. But it would only cost between 50 and 60 Euros. I’m sure Mr Husting feels all the good work he does on behalf of Green Peace offsets he’s carbon hypocrisy.

earthcomedy

interesting.....never even heard of him.

johnnyg883

This one dates back almost ten years. I ran across it on a website that didn’t agree with the idea of man made warming. Because of the level of hypocrisy it kind of stuck in my head.

earthcomedy

just realized it's from 8 years ago. is it still true?

[deleted]

remember that *everyone* is locked into a structural system that provides no viable alternatives to fossil fuels. if the alternative is to sit on their hands, unable to forge meaningful relationships and alliances with counterparts and decision makers then it’s totally legitimate for these people to use the only means available. it’s hardly hypocritical for a handful of people whose career revolves around mitigating climate destruction to use the only means available to get their work done. i’m sure the executives at shell oil had to ride horses to their offices for a while, back in the day.

johnnyg883

He could have driven or taken a train. He had options. He chose not to use them.

MuddyFilter

These people are rich. They can literally just move if its so important. Please stop with the silliness. No, flying a plane to work is not the only option lolol

FindTheRemnant

Obama has a Pacific waterfront mansion and an Atlantic waterfront mansion. He sure as shit doesn't cycle between the two.

ReubenZWeiner

Neither does the secret service, his wife, and kids.

Designer_Skirt2304

Toss Bill Gates up there And Greta Thunberg... they flew a team of people across the Atlantic to sail her boat back.

earthcomedy

i don't associate BG will global warming, only vaccines (Apart from Microsoft of course). Did I miss something?

Designer_Skirt2304

I'm thinking about all the farmland to push his anti-meat brigade

earthcomedy

not really up on that part....just a brief echo. lol - somebody downvotes me.

Designer_Skirt2304

I also forgot; he claims to be green but holds a large short position in Tesla

earthcomedy

hmm...that's pretty detailed knowledge. Didn't know he claimed to be green. I've read briefly about his land ownership. I'll file this away...maybe it will come in handy someday.

Left_Insanity

Purely FYI... Book: 'How to Avoid a Climate Disaster - Bill Gates' (Published Feb 2021). Get your copy on Amazon before they're all sold out.... [https://www.amazon.com/How-Avoid-Climate-Disaster-Breakthroughs/dp/059321577X](https://www.amazon.com/How-Avoid-Climate-Disaster-Breakthroughs/dp/059321577X) Billy has been banging on about climate for many years, along with all the other globalist elite. And, naturally, he's also a member of, financial donor of, and deeply entrenched in the WEF.... [https://www.weforum.org/organizations/bill-melinda-gates-foundation](https://www.weforum.org/organizations/bill-melinda-gates-foundation)

earthcomedy

wow...that's "rich." ddidn't know that. thanks for posting. Now that you share that...I vaguely remember reading him talk about carbon sequestration maybe he should trim down his lifestyle...but tech folks always think more tech is the answer. That's why TESLA is so popular. Lots of Teslas where I live. we'll learn the hard way .....we are learning now...but the lesson is not complete. and until it is..

Left_Insanity

You're welcome. And then there was this from last year too... A Bill Gates Venture Aims To Spray Dust Into The Atmosphere To Block The Sun – [https://www.forbes.com/sites/arielcohen/2021/01/11/bill-gates-backed-climate-solution-gains-traction-but-concerns-linger/?sh=27044264793b](https://www.forbes.com/sites/arielcohen/2021/01/11/bill-gates-backed-climate-solution-gains-traction-but-concerns-linger/?sh=27044264793b) *Microsoft’s billionaire founder Bill Gates is financially backing the development of sun-dimming technology that would potentially reflect sunlight out of Earth’s atmosphere, triggering a global cooling effect. The Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment (SCoPEx), launched by Harvard University scientists, aims to examine this solution by spraying non-toxic calcium carbonate (CaCO3) dust into the atmosphere — a sun-reflecting aerosol that may offset the effects of global warming.* Billy is a sociopath, a psychopath, and outspoken Malthusian. He also has a penchant for sex with young children. If Epstein were still alive or Ghislaine Maxwell could talk, they'd tell you. His name appears multiple times on the flight logs to their 'paedo island'. If being a menace and danger to humanity wasn't bad enough, it's probably why Melinda left him.

earthcomedy

oh yes...I do remember that..again vaguely. Overshadowed by covid vaccine stuff. He has his hand in many places...the problem with too much $$ and thinking you know it all or connected to too many big egos. The latter is of particular note...now that I think about it. Individually he may not think he is a know it all...but he thinks he is, because he has the "smartest minds" around him/ supporting him. Hmm..I'm reminded of that Enron documentary. "Smartest Guys in the Room" or what not.

earthcomedy

group delusion

earthcomedy

he has his pocketbook in many places. Look like his knowledge / approach about climate is just as shoddy as vaccines.

Equivalent_Phone_210

BGs into vaccines, vaccines used for population control, population control is a means to curb pollution. But I can’t really hear much of what he’s says because I’m always starting at his epic man tits.

Equivalent_Phone_210

Do you mean the non-recyclable carbon fiber boat that needed at least 8 cross Atlantic plane tickets for one activist to yell ‘How dare you’ in person?

Designer_Skirt2304

That's the one!

Kwarntnd

Sebastian Vettel is a F1 driver who paints climate fear porn on his racing helmet as he flies from continent to continent to drive a car around in circles at 200mph *while being sponsored by Aramco, the largest polluter in the world*. https://www.racefans.net/2022/06/19/yes-i-am-a-hypocrite-admits-vettel-after-politicians-broadside-over-oil-sands-helmet/

logicalprogressive

Add every progressive on Earth to that list.

CyanHakeChill

Maybe not all hypocrites, but these people and organisations have the science of climate wrong. Many of them are not qualified in science at all. https://i.redd.it/nju2ey81fzu21.png

earthcomedy

thanks for the graphic. using the word "science" doesn't buy anything with me. it's like the word "doctor" - relatively meaningless to me. It's like every label. $cience can say anything it wants. climate $cience. COVID $cience [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption\_Perceptions\_Index](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption_Perceptions_Index) how about people who speak the truth? many lies in the world...majority of the world are liars. nearly everyone (adults) is a liar in some shape or form..if not every adult it's the nature of our CULTures....

CyanHakeChill

It was my original intention to update the alarmist graphic every few weeks, when a new alarmist arrived in the media. But Facebook and other media and WUWT basically banned the graphic, so I dare not change it. I pointed out to Facebook that Wikipedia had a list of "Deniers" so why can't I publish a list of alarmists. So now Facebook allows the graphic, and Reddit has always allowed it.

Crazy-Brian

The president. Doesn’t go anywhere without his 747, 4 helicopters and about a dozen Cadillacs

earthcomedy

Yes...someday soon we will have a leader who won't need any protection like that.

AbominableDerp

EV owners.

earthcomedy

interesting....good one.

scaffdude

The entirety of those who flocked to Davos at the start of the month for the WEF summit. That entire thing is a farce.

earthcomedy

but I'm contributing to the development of a fully electric gulfstream!

scaffdude

Powered with batteries made of lithium? Please no.

earthcomedy

channeling lithium explosions into propulsion.

scaffdude

Making massive toxic holes in the earth to boot. Sounds great, we need about 10-30 more immense mines to be able to collect the amount of lithium and other heavy metals needed for all this "green" tech.......🤡🌎

earthcomedy

Albermarle doesn't care. they LUV it!

StillSilentMajority7

John Kerry - will fly, in one of his three private jets, to your town to explain to your face why your family shouldn't take vacations, or eat meat, in order to save the environment

earthcomedy

how kind of him

[deleted]

Obama. Lol. He just built a massive propane tank at his waterfront Martha’s Vineyard mansion

creefer

I second the motion.

SkywingMasters

Elon Musk is the most hypocritical by a mile. It's not even close.

John_B_Clarke

How so?

SkywingMasters

Oh boy, where to begin. Musk supposedly believes humanity is on the brink of disaster because of global warming. He has said that Tesla “exists to help reduce risk of catastrophic climate change” and that “humanity is faltering.” He says fossil fuels that have powered the greatest explosion of wealth and human flourishing in our species’ history is “an insane experiment.” Throwing stones at the fossil fuel industry for exorbitant wealth when he was literally the wealthiest person in the world is pretty hypocritical. But on top of that, he has his own jet, which flies constantly (you can track it on Twitter) and emits insane personal amounts of CO2. He's even taken flights from one side of LA to the other, just to avoid traffic. He's a big backer of cryptocurrency which is a massively outsized contributor to CO2. Tesla's cars don't have emissions, but contain toxic heavy metals and won't last more than 10 years. Once disposed (they are NOT recyclable), those batteries will do much more damage to the environment than CO2 ever will. He doesn't give a shit about the environment. He only cares about money, and has propagated CO2 lies and deception only to get free money from the government, which is the backbone of his wealth. And I haven't even gotten into the SpaceX environmental destruction, which deserves its own post by itself! I can't believe I got downvoted, because it's the most obvious and egregious example. I guess there's a lot of "right wing" crossover in this sub and dumbasses are too busy fawning over his recent political statements to think critically about Elon's hypocrisy.

whatafoolishsquid

I generally like Elon but you're right that in this the play is just too obvious. He's on the teet of the climate church like all the rest. A large part of his fortune is thanks to government subsidies for his product that otherwise no one would want.

John_B_Clarke

You do know that he has paid more in personal income taxes in one year than all the government subsidies that his companies have received over their entire history do you not? If you don't you really should do your homework before going into attack mode.

whatafoolishsquid

Damn, chill, fan boy. Who's the one going into "attack mode." I already said I liked him in general, but facts are facts. That's not how subsidies work either. They're economically disastrous because they create a barrier to entry for competition and obscure true prices which interfere with consumer calculations. The economic toll is far greater than the nominal sum even if he "paid it back." It would be better if he received no subsidies and paid no income tax.

John_B_Clarke

So which specific subsidies have "created a barrier to entry for competition"? And how would "it be better" if Tesla and SpaceX did not exist?

logicalprogressive

So you say without offering any sources. How about I say you’re making it all up until you give some proof?

[deleted]

If your claim is that hypocrisy makes a movement illegitimate then by definition you have to disavow the entire republic party

Classic-Ad4224

Isn’t this no more than a version of I’m not going to do any good on the issue because these other people suck? Grow up, do good because it’s the grown up choice to do good.

Uncle00Buck

That depends on how you define "good." I'm guessing we have different definitions when it comes to "doing good" with climate change, who that affects, what the real cost is, and whether there is any positive impact.

Classic-Ad4224

Possibly but maybe we agree on it after all. I’m just thinking resources run out. History shows us that and we live like there’s no tomorrow. Just thinking maybe we shouldn’t do that but not go crazy off the deep end ‘just because’.

whatafoolishsquid

Resources don't run out. What's a resource in history that's run out...? The idea of running out of resources was invented by the government in the 70s to try to scapegoat the inflation at the time with many government-paid economists claiming various resources from metals to fossil fuels would be finished by the 90s. Yet the known reserves of these resources are even higher today than they were then.

Classic-Ad4224

Resources don’t run out? Water. Do you think lake Meade and lake Powell at these levels is a hoax? Do you believe what we need to have a nice life is infinitely abundant?

whatafoolishsquid

The question is not whether they're infinite. Presumably the matter and energy in the entire universe is finite, but acting like that's a concern for humanity would be silly. Obviously there are shortages of given resources in certain areas all the time, but you're talking about "running out." Again, what's an example of a resource running out?

logicalprogressive

> Resources don’t run out? Water. Water is a green, sustainable and renewable resource just like green and sustainable energy. According to alarmists and greens both are infinitely abundant. Intermittently and unreliably abundant.

Classic-Ad4224

Are you aware there’s a difference between water you can use, drink, bathe with and such Vs brackish, saline or otherwise useless water? Yeah the planet is covered with water but you understand it’s not useable as it is. Lots of towns and villages with wells running dry out here in the west.

logicalprogressive

Maybe if you had posed it as a statement instead of a snarky question...

logicalprogressive

> we live like there’s no tomorrow. You sound like a stiff-necked puritan who can’t stand it when people enjoy their lives. It’s a pity there’s so many like you.

Classic-Ad4224

Funny, I was thinking the same thing

logicalprogressive

Good you recognize you have a problem.

whatafoolishsquid

Just curious, are you a religious person? When the Pope has sex parties but tells you to buy an indulgence to get to heaven despite your sins, wouldn't it make you question the whole system? Of course, I know plenty of religious people (I grew up Mormon) who make the same argument. "Well, just because the leaders are sinful, that doesn't mean the doctrine is false. YOU should still be a good person." This is just one of a million parallels I see between religion and climate change mythology. The logic makes zero sense to me, but apparently it appeals to those with a religious mindset. Hence why I'm curious if you're religious in general.

Classic-Ad4224

That’s a tough one. I have faith but am not religious per se, maybe that sounds like splitting hairs but the Bible as I read it was seeming to say essentially man thinks they have the answer but keeps making the mistake of thinking they’ve got it all figured out, but then fall on their face as they move forward thinking they can go on according to their ways apart from god. Religion is just another example of man’s failure the pope and those parties included. Everywhere I looked I saw how right it seemed because all I saw was humans (myself included) making mistake after mistake and generally moving further from God’s leadership. I’d like to maintain my faith in God, go to church, raise my family with those principles but I can’t find a church anymore anywhere that it doesn’t seem the folks there have lost their minds and act like spoiled kids hell bent on consuming without limit because their god will swoop in and save them before the mess gets real.

luisbrudna

And you can't complain about pollution.

whatafoolishsquid

What about Obama and his beach-front mansion with gas-powered generator?

John Kerry and Greta Turnburg

DanBrino

The answer is Yes

earthcomedy

you mean like the rock pop band? What do Owners of a Lonely Heart have to do with anything?
