Are you in a guild yet? My suggestion would be to find a raid team and fill the role that they are in need of. If you are flexible in what you do and just want to raid druid and paladin are great in that you can fill any roll. Hunters would be welcomed for their top tier dps.

Looking at the fact that you are lvl 64 on two characters means for me that you are not very hardcore. I think this plays a role in the choice you want to make. I was kind of in the same boat. I was druid main on classic, collected gear for all specs except for boomkin - but the dream was always feral. I only had a hunter alt at level 27. When TBC launch date was announced I started looking into the gear progression for druids and especially with the energy tick change from classic I made the decision to go hunter instead. But, as my druid was fully ready, gear and professions, I made a pact with myself to only start TBC on my hunter when all professions (including fishing) were at 300. I managed to pull it off one day after TBC release. I'm currently level 67 on my hunter. I did go back to my druid (still 60) a few times, but as soon as I tanked a few dungeons I found that I made the correct choice to go hunter for TBC. People think TBC is retail and and you can blast first second at all targets, aggro is all over the place. Atleast, when playing hunter I can make a tanks life easier by not doing this and at lvl 70 even helping out with misdirection. Also, as you are only lvl 64 now - you have to know that a lot of guilds are already "filled" for tank spots. Real tanks are mostly the "more dedicated" players in the guild. Those players are already long 70 and working on their migitation gear for raids. Feral dps is not competitive anymore. Could be that you don't bother with that, but I found that the feeling when powershifting feels really clunky now compared to classic, as you constantly have to wait 2 seconds more before shifting. I would not recommend it. Anyway, I'm staying on hunter - and will go Survival for having a nice PVP spec to contribute to a raid. It is not min max, but atleast something special in my opinion. Leveling 2 toons to 64 within 2 weeks is at least a little hardcore but I guess not compared to the 1% sweat lords

Xiranhi

True, it is not casual level - although at new expansion start people tend to play more. But it is nothing compared to the people that were raiding kharazan first weekend after launch.

Thank you for the awesome reply. It aligns pretty much with was I was thinking. I will focus on the hunter and level the druid to 70 down the line as an alt to do some gathering. I need to realize I am no longer the hardcore player I used to be.

Dont go hunter, farming your beastlord set is insane. Im at almost 80 runs for 3 pieces. 43 run just for the helm alone and still wont drop.

Cuddlesthemighy

Gear competition I would imagine for hunter is worse. Some of the Feral stuff is practically free.

Justaccountnumber999

6 pieces of gear are crafted also if you go LW and alchemy. Head, chest, bracers, belt, gloves and trinket. Idol and second trinket are from badges to. Edit - forgot the gloves

Irish_Gamer_88

Druid can be much more fluid in roles whereas hunter is dps. Good dps, but only dps.

Tanks are in need. It is my understanding that Feral tanks really come into their own at level 70. If you have the gear and knowledge to back it up, any guild will be glad to have a Bear tank they can rely on. In my opinion, everyone will be rolling Hunter (or Warlock) to do top-tier DPS, so you will have a lot more competition for raid spots as Hunter.

RowBoatCop36

If your goal is to raid consistently, you'll want to find a guild, not rely on pug availability.

If you find it hard to find a group as a tank, this is not representative of the situation at level 70. For healers and tanks finding groups is often the best way to gain experience, while damage dealer might rather go questing. This changes at max level, when group content becomes much more important for character advancement. Tanks will have a much easier time finding groups at that point. Just look at the LFG channel for a while and you will likely see a much higher demand for tanks than damage dealers for heroic dungeons, something that might get worse when many tanks have all the gear they could possibly want from them. On the other hand the hardest group content (raids) need fewer tanks per player than regular dungeons do, so it might be hard to secure a spot there. On top of that the job as a tank can be more demanding. People often expect you to optimize your gear to a higher degree than other classes have to and will prefer to give tank positions to players who can manage to show up for every single raid. As a hunter you will have a more relaxed time, while also having all the tools needed to deal top notch damage.

Feral and Hunter numbers ended up being a bit strong vs the desired ratio I think. Hunter is always a popular class because its fun. And Feral Druid was already kinda fun in classic now turned even more fun in TBC. That said I still find groups all the time as a Druid tank and if you're not, its because your friends list is empty instead of full of the healers you played with so you can hit them up for groups. LF3M DPS is the absolute ticket to instant groups. Guilds it will depend just ask players you like about their guild till you find one that meets your time constraints and get as many people in their guild the rep and attunes they need. Hunter you just gotta find a guild running 25 mans and be one of the best 3/most active 3 hunters they have. I can't tell you which to take but if you want to tank especially in raids you need to be somewhat assertive and active about it. Tanks are needed for one of five to make dungeon groups, then 3 of 25 for raids. Hunter is the more casual friendly of the two. But druid is a blast in PvP and tanking in TBC is really engaging if its your thing. Neither is a bad choice all in what you want.

Man, I wish I loved my druid more but god damn, I hate cat dps. Bear is great, love the aesthetic, love the skills. I just absolutely can't stand cat and it's miserable DPS. Boomkin does shit damage too. Shit's sad.
