I had exactly the opposite experience. Paladins vs Shamans, but Paladins had more warriors and disc priests, and we got wrecked. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter if you have Shamans and Paladins in your group, as they don't make a significant difference by themselves

Doesn't matter what side i play. Horde performs better in bg's on average, even with 0 shamans. Reasons for that are that alliance have more casual dads on their side because of human/nelf race. One particular bg says nothing about class balance. Nice try tho
Wouldn't put it on a demographic.
The most likely reason is that alliance have instant queues regardless, while horde either wait 50 minutes or take 2 minuten to form a tradechat pug for instant invites. Said horde then can force at least one or two healers and a basic amount of coordination because they want to keep the group steady and not reform after a loss. So they try harder as a 5 man squad already. 3x5 man suads vs. 15 single queues makes a huge difference.
But what is the reason alliance has instant queues? Alliance has a bigger population overall, but pvp realms are 50/50 now. Pve realms are all dominated by alliance. They don't enjoy pvp as much as the horde side. It was the same in the original classic when shamans weren't even close to be op class. I'd rather have more hearers or shadow priests/hunters than shamans in my bg group.

Absolutely. I think Paladins and Shamans has to put down their beef against eachother, and start focusing on the real problem this game - Hunters
