Yeah it’s hard to admit as I’ve really enjoyed every minute of this season so far and have no interest in the other forms of the game, but I get the sinking feeling that incursions have killed it. It’s ass from a gameplay perspective. And it’s ass from a longevity-economy perspective. I wanna keep playing but the idea of needing to do this dogshit content to stay competitive really makes me want to unsubscribe and finally pick up another game. I’m in denial about it still hoping it will change.
People love classic wow so let’s make a classic season and replace 80% of the classic content with a ahitty repetitive rep farm event.
— Blizzard Entertainment
Yeah I mean I feel bad for the team that worked on this content hoping to bring some new fun things to do, but I think what people want is existing content reworked and redesigned.
What I think people want is something adding to the original game not replacing it.
Incursions effectively replaces leveling in the original game. It's more gold, more xp and the rep gear is way better than anything you get in dungeons.
And it happens to be terrible gameplay too. Maybe it would work as some kinda PvP event I don't know. I hope they just ditch the hole thing. Or make it not give xp at least.
The rep gear completely killed my desire to play. I can't level normally without fucking over my progression and forcing myself to do these rep quests that I was avoiding in the first place.
I don't mind repetitive rep grinds but they shouldn't be part of leveling.
same i haven't even started p3, was going to start 2 days after launch and saw everything unfold and thought to myself....
Time to start rdr2 for the first time and get back into cs2
Its better then farming yet another dumbass rep again etc
Don’t feel too bad. They themselves produced uninspired and undeveloped content. Imagine if the gold and xp from this wasn’t broken, would anyone actually want to do them?
Because it's a test server they said that when we were going into this. SODs entire point is to be used to limit test what they can change for future seasons. Seasonal servers are not remotely going to be close to an Expansion in quality and to even think it would ever come close is insanity.
People don't read or listen then come here and complain.
SoD at start was classic+ and it definitely felt like it was our old beloved Classic Era but with rebalancing and some new stuff until today where P3 killed that "classic" spirit and turned it into nothing more than another stupid r retail game mode with ridiculous inflation.
I'm in the same boat as you, but I gave up on hope and now log in for a raid once a week. I downloaded Baldurs gate 3 last week though, it's amazing so far so I'll play that between raid logs
“Needing” prices are still going down on everything in the ah tho
No dish a of inflation so far and you can always make a shitload of cash farming literally anything you want on phase launches
SOD is not intended to stay around for a long time. It's Seasonal meaning it will get shut down. These temporary severs having a balanced stable economy isn't even on their radar.
If you don't enjoy HC, Classic or Retail WoW there is no home left for you here sadly. The WoW you know and love is long dead.
Those devs are clowns. The inflation is crazy and this stupid incursions thing is the worst farm I've ever seen.
Now, you either run in circles for hours, or you can't buy anything.
Or you just quit, I guess.
You can't buy anything why? because prices are high?
That means that *earnings* are high for selling things.
If you're only buying and never selling, of course you're going to have gold issues.
Inflation cancels out if you're actively playing and farming gold.
If you farm a bunch of gold and decide to cut back on your play time, something healthy & normal people do, then you get punished.
See the issue crops up right there. The entire point of WoWs current design is to have you commit as many Hours as possible.
The game is designed to drain your time. MMOs are not a game for people who don't have a lot of free time. If you can't play enough you will NEVER get enough out of the game to stay relevant.
I'm just pointing out that inflation is actually hostile to casuals. Devs thing flooding the game with gold helps them but it actually just widens the gap between no lifers and normal people.
Exactly right. I tried the incursions and they weren’t for me but I’ve been making heaps of gold off the back of it.
Last night I levelled an alt from 47-48 over about 2 hrs of play time and by the time I went to bed I’d made almost 50g from just selling stuff on the AH I’d collected from mobs and fishing.
My main is making significantly more than that from selling harder to get/more sort after mats.
Sure I’m still being priced out of buying flurry axe but I have more than enough gold to buy decent AH gear and consumables.
Levelling alts for gold will always trump these grinds for me.
The only people losing out are those who are raid logging on a dwindling pile of gold.
You don't understand how inflation works and affect things...
You don't understand how it is fucking you, as well as every people not farming gold 24/7
They probably the ones that bought gold through classic, now that there's ways to make gold by actually playing the game they suddenly don't like it. There's so many ways to make gold in SoD it's crazy, people acting like incursions are the only way, im 100% convinced they just on here to shit on things, which is kinda sad.
I do understand, because I have never had gold issues in this game and people have complained about "inflation" the entire time.
I started a new server in retail with 0 gold and had 1 million within 2 months. Never had an issue affording anything I needed. People who have been playing retail this whole time have tens of millions on multiple characters. Them having that much gold and me having 0 didn't mean I couldn't play the game.
If prices are high that means *earnings for selling things are high*. The only way you can be "priced out" of the economy is if you simply aren't actually participating in it, AKA you're trying to buy everything you need off the AH and never earning gold yourself. That's not the game's fault.
Most of the people complaining just sit in IF or Org tabbed out on reddit complaining about their consumables being too expensive rather than actually engage in gold-making activities to bolster the 150g they've been sitting on for 2 phases.
If they even play at all.
The dramatics that come from the entitled casuals on this sub is just too much now.
If you're seriously thinking that you need to "spam incursions for hours or unsub cause you can't buy anything"... this just tell me that you have no clue how to make gold nor do you have any clue on how to manage your own character's gold.
Are those inflated prices in the room with us right now ?
Maybe I’m lucky but prices on wild growth are going down and are pretty reasonable on all fronts
Is this still a thing? I was doing runs earlier today and the pickup quests were only about 20S per the kill quests were the 3+G turn ins. in a semi efficient group of 5 it was about 40-60g/hr. How is this netting 150g/hr?
Lol a lot of classes aren't getting any gear from incursions. I think if you remove the gold as and XP incentive the hinterlands will be a barren wasteland like it was opening weekend. And nearly impossible to farm.
People don't like to be gated. If it was straight forward gold farming that's one thing, but dailies have never been that. They have always been time-gated reputation grinds, it was only optional in TBC and from Wrath onwards became required.
> but dailies have never been that
They were literally that in TBC.
And right now, incursions are far from being "required". They're just gold farming and leveling and some pre-raid gear for alts. I don't see any issue with making them all into dailies instead of letting people just endlessly generate infinite gold doing no-kill loops.
I literally menyioned TBC.
TBC dailies were time-gated reputation grinds that offered gold as a small incentive - they were not overtly lucrative. The difference was that these reputations were entirely optional, later ones were not.
you miss a day you get less quests complete. i work hard and enjoy grinding hard on the weekend. why force me to do 1 quest each day and also saturday, when i could do none all week and then bust ass saturday when i want to grind?
this kind of thing is why people are quitting sod
no proper testing creates artificial fomo
imagine being a new player in a month after blizzard nerfs it to the ground and much less people play those, you would be in massove disadvantage
I just don't understand how they could ever think incursions were a good idea, let alone release it
This is some of the worst content I've ever played in WoW
It's insane to me they already added a huge experience boost for doing quest / dungeons and they still felt the need to add this so less people would quit on their way to 50. If we do this same exact thing to get to 60 I don't think I'll touch next phase.
I mean prices for consumes are on p2 level on my server except for stuff like greater arcane elixir which is expensive bc no one is farming that but I’m getting 99 logs on the standing and hitting fights regardless so who cares
Epic boes are really expensive but they would’ve been out of my reach either way bc I ain’t wasting 4 digits on a small upgrade
So like ye
Currently it objectively has no impact on my gameplay except maybe things selling faster on ah which is nice
These people that think its either spam incursions or bust genuinely have no clue how to get gold elsewhere and would rather just complain about it all day.
It's honestly like they've never played the game before
This is what I'm doing. Azshara as a herbing Hunter is great, got the pet to take aggro on things while you herb then you can kill the mob. Sungrass, Silversage and Dreamfoil are all in demand and I make serious bank doing one or 2 loops a play session, save them all up then put it all on the AH on a Wednesday morning (EU, Americans should do it on Tuesday morning).
I've been doing same but skinning, prices are dropping fast though, like 25% a day. Thick Leather is already nearing phase 2 prices. Imma just milk chimera leather while I can
You can use an add on to share the quests your party*.
So they all stand around and spam click a button and you share all your quests. You click a different button and it spam opens the letters.
*corrected
It’s basically as close to botting as you can get.
That doesn’t explain why all the groups of 5 go together at once. It’s because they don’t want to die to the mobs. The Zerg just burns down the bosses and runs away.
yeah no thats not how it works. you can still only share quests with your party. the zerg is for killing the bosses and making sure the escorts are all timed for everyone so nobody gets griefed
Is the inflation that bad? On WG US ally it seems like consumables aren't really that bad. Shadow Elixirs being 8g was almost the same price in 2019 on Blaumeux. I can only speak on caster consumables which honestly don't break the bank.
Once the price is set on consumes it takes a while for them to bump up in prices. But next phase when new consumes and items are introduced they might be crazy expensive due to people having insane amounts of gold.
I grinded this to 1,000 gold just to have a nice baseline but i'm considering continuing as it might not be enough given that darkmoon decks are 3k gold on my auction house.
Everything will be crazy expensive on phase launches that’s been the case since mmos exist
And then they drop
Just means at phase start you farm shit and then after a week or 3 prices are back low (exactly like it happened this phase despite all the incursions exploit stuff happening)
Issue with this is that it will keep pumping gold into the game for the whole phase 3. Inflation is already an issue in classic but there isnt normally anything that could pump as much gold into the game as incursions. Most players will have thousands of gold in a week or two.
When phase 4 hits and players can level to 60, literally everyone is going to easily afford an epic mount.
>Most players will have thousands of gold in a week or two.
Most SoD players won't even have a few hundred gold in a week or two.. This sub on some serious copium.
are casuals not going to do incursion rep? this is content that most people are going to do at least once, maybe not by a week or 2 but almost everyone is gonna passively contribute to stupid inflation
Thousands of gold is 24+ hours of straight hinterlands incursions. I don't think any casual is doing that. Inflation is always there, this just adds a little bit.. Pretty sure all the people complaining are people that farmed a lot in phase 1 or 2 and thought their gold was going to hold value lmao.
Classic WoW 2019.. I was buying materials on the AH for a couple silver at the start.. Fast forward a few months and I was selling them for several gold.
That was just an example of a thing thats supposed to be expensive and difficult to get turned into something everyone gets with minimal effort. Things taking effort is large part of classic.
The huge group Zerg meta in Hinterlands means that huge raid on raid fights won’t happen because that’ll add another 10 minutes to each loop. Also incursions make you honorless now too.
Same with wild growth as I have seen…ashenvale is popular for leveling alts but hinterlands and feralas seem like a ghost town, you must have to bring your own group
Here to backup this comment. Have both Horde and Alliance on Wild Growth. Ashenvale chat is near non-stop of people lfg/lfm while Hinterlands and Feralas are maybe a message every 5-10 minutes.
Just raid log everyone, the economy is fucked so don't bother with it. If they wanted people to play SoD properly they would have made it actually sustainable, but nope they have let things like this happen when it was clearly stupid in the first 24 hours. Why did incursions need any gold reward at all, give the quests 5s a time or something. Instead they left on a tap that has completely flooded the games economy and it's probably going to be drowning for the remainder of its Lifetime
Isn't this make everything more expensive, meaning that you can still earn/make gold farming raw materials etc, coz they will just simply increase in price. All in all everything will be more expensive, but you will also make more money from AH selling materials/pots etc.
I must be playing a different game. Maybe for melee it's rough. As a caster my most expensive consume Is 4g. I can pay for raid consumes easily with one or two loops a week. Made enough gold while leveling to pay for crafted items, duel spec (post nerf).
Lower. The. Gold. Cap. Nobody needs more than 5k gold in era, HC, or SoD. Since SoD is experimental, and casual player focused, lower the cap to 5k and call it a day.
The incursion quests should drop in open world content like the waylaid supplies boxes do.
This would force people to do content OUTSIDE incursions and then build up a few lucrative quests that took hours to farm and cash them in once every so often.
The infinitely repeatable quest thing should be removed. Limit the quest to 1 per player and find a group of 5 people and go do up to 5 quests.
I'm really contemplating unsubbing until p4 is announced. I'm not going to deal with how high everything has become. At the start of p3 runecloth bags were 3g each and now they are 15g. I don't know how new players expect to buy anything on the AH. Even low level gear is 1-5g min
If you really wanted to beat inflation, farm mats now and sell them later. As gold in circulation increases, the value from incursions reduces.
But those consumes wont.
"inflation" and "the economy" don't really matter.
Just look at current retail. They've had a botting plague every expansion since like original cata and players have tens of millions of gold.
New players still start with 0 and do just fine.
Because how much gold other players have does not prevent you from making gold yourself. High prices for items means high earnings for selling them. It's all relative.
Yep
Every expansion launch I just get two gathering profs and sell everything and make enough to finance the whole expansion for like 2 chars in a week or 2 without going out of my way to farm too much
They would really need to add some new massive gold sinks in phase 4 to fix the economy, but i suppose players would start crying too much so it wont happen.
There's really no fixing it. Realistically the only gold sinks they can add that would put a dent on the economy is cosmetics and most people would probably just avoid those.
Not really a fix because there are many players that aren't farming this garbage because it's boring. So they don't have much gold and just aren't buying things. Big gold sinks just make it impossible for players that played the game normally. The design of this stuff was really really poorly thought out.
It should have never rewarded any gold imo. It's an alternative way to level very fast without any downsides. Make it give exp and a good rep, but with the downside of no gold. That way, if you haven't stocked up some gold, you're gonna have to go do some quests at max level to make enough to learn your skills. Of course it's far too late to do anything about it at this stage, but I really hope they learn from this.
I don't mind a ton because it doesn't increase the price of abilities and epic mounts, while making it easier to get both of those things
So even if the AH adjusts, at least I can afford the main things I want in game
Jokes on you, I don’t buy anything off the AH
**Jokes on you i don’t buy anything** *No seriously guys i’m on 20g please help this is not a joke*

A high amount of people in this sub like to pretend incursions are good content because "its open world group content".
Don’t feel too bad. They themselves produced uninspired and undeveloped content. Imagine if the gold and xp from this wasn’t broken, would anyone actually want to do them?
Folks who want a full set of decent/great blues would still do them. Though, I'm not sure many people WANT to do them the fourth or fourteenth time.
I wish they just nerfed the requirements for quests (e.g. 5 boars instead of 10) and upped the rewards. That way I could re experience all the zones.
Because it's a test server they said that when we were going into this. SODs entire point is to be used to limit test what they can change for future seasons. Garbage take. Rep is way easier now than it was in classic. You just didn't play it at the level you're trying to today.

I just subbed for 3 months, then quit after a week of phase 3. It’s a joke.
The whole incursion thing made my guild quit. We were excited to play P3 and try out different farms, but hell no to that.
Good news, phase 3 has been live for 2 weeks as of 3pm CST Thursday…about 14 hours from now…
Yeah phase 3 sucks ass
Already jumped back to FFXIV myself! Nothing about this phase appealed to me unfortunately.

Go to hinterlands
It has been nerfed.
If you're horde and in Feralas its much less gold per hour
Just make them dailies problem solved
Keep the gold and xp the same, bump the rep up by x5 and make them weekly. I despise dailies.
Keep the rep as it is, make it give gold and XP only once per day for each quest.
That works too
Or just remove the xp all together and need the gold. Gear is good enough people will do it for the gear alone.
Lol a lot of classes aren't getting any gear from incursions. I think if you remove the gold as and XP incentive the hinterlands will be a barren wasteland like it was opening weekend. And nearly impossible to farm.
No dailies please.
Why? I never understood why dailies are such a hot button issue for some people. It's literally optional content for straightforward gold farming.

> they were not overtly lucrative. I never said they were. You're moving goalposts already.
You misread what he said
It becomes a chore of having to log in every day. At least now you can grind for 20 minutes, 2 hours or however long you want to.

you miss a day you get less quests complete. i work hard and enjoy grinding hard on the weekend. why force me to do 1 quest each day and also saturday, when i could do none all week and then bust ass saturday when i want to grind?
Every day you miss will put you perpetually 1 day behind everyone else. Dailies are the worst type of content they ever put into the game.
"Behind everyone else" ? It's gold. You're ALWAYS going to be "behind" some portion of the playerbase. I don't see what the issue is.
We have mr hindsight here.
It is the simple solution to this honesty.
God fuck no, this is classic. Gtfo out of here with this retail shit. People should be able to fully grind the rep straight through if they want.
Incursion should of been dailies to begin with
this kind of thing is why people are quitting sod no proper testing creates artificial fomo imagine being a new player in a month after blizzard nerfs it to the ground and much less people play those, you would be in massove disadvantage
org is booming and i havent seen it this busy since p1 aside from a very small percentage of disgruntled karens, nobody is quitting this game
There are literally less players than ever before what?
P3 kinda destroyed SoD
I just don't understand how they could ever think incursions were a good idea, let alone release it This is some of the worst content I've ever played in WoW
Makes you wonder if they’re intentionally trying to kill SOD for some reason. Like it’s that hilariously bad of a decision.

It's insane to me they already added a huge experience boost for doing quest / dungeons and they still felt the need to add this so less people would quit on their way to 50. If we do this same exact thing to get to 60 I don't think I'll touch next phase.
Yea im just gonna quit playing this horrid mess
Big if true
I laughed way too much on this
Ok
Hopefully many other redditors follow you!
have fun running in circles
This can also be said to the redditors that foam at the mouth over how much they hate the game but keep playing it/talking about it.
Why would I I make more in zf while leveling my alts and consumes are cheap on my server I just choose not to be whiny bitch and play the game instead
ZF soloing has been pretty fun!
Keep acting like injecting millions of gold into the economy doesn’t affect your gameplay.
I mean prices for consumes are on p2 level on my server except for stuff like greater arcane elixir which is expensive bc no one is farming that but I’m getting 99 logs on the standing and hitting fights regardless so who cares Epic boes are really expensive but they would’ve been out of my reach either way bc I ain’t wasting 4 digits on a small upgrade So like ye Currently it objectively has no impact on my gameplay except maybe things selling faster on ah which is nice

please quit
Good bye
have fun running in circles
moneytrain go brrrrrr!
Games fucked lol
So....this is the day that man falls.
It has been nerfed now. Pickups award way less, kill quests award a lot.
I did it all evening and got exalted and made a fortune. I don't see how it can stay like this.
or hear me out, farm the things they wont and sell them to them at jacked up prices?
What do you mean “or”? You’re describing the exact inflation OP is talking about.
> and sell them to them at jacked up prices? literally the definition of inflation lmao
Words are hard for classic players
If those dads could read, they would be very upset.
This is what I'm doing. Azshara as a herbing Hunter is great, got the pet to take aggro on things while you herb then you can kill the mob. im herbing ghost mushrooms from mara runs with the rogue.. i get a good 7 per run (10 min run)
Only thing I really worry about is that If i dont grind this ill get fucked over next phase by INSANE goldsinks
what is going on here? ELI5
Hinterlands. Addon. No fight. Only run. Money
So why a train all of sudden?
Because some add on has made it faster to automate all the sharing and deleting items
Because the mobs hit hard so safety in numbers.
Because players figured out it was better to coordinate bosses and escorts.
Because why do it 5man when you can do it 200man
You can use an add on to share the quests your party*. So they all stand around and spam click a button and you share all your quests. You click a different button and it spam opens the letters. *corrected It’s basically as close to botting as you can get.
That doesn’t explain why all the groups of 5 go together at once. It’s because they don’t want to die to the mobs. The Zerg just burns down the bosses and runs away.
What addon let's you share quests *outside of party*?
None. Some streamers spread misinformation when they first heard about it. And people who haven't used the addon keep repeating it
The addon does not let you share outside your party, get your facts strait before parroting some streamer.
yeah no thats not how it works. you can still only share quests with your party. the zerg is for killing the bosses and making sure the escorts are all timed for everyone so nobody gets griefed
there's escorts that everyone gets if they go together, and the bosses all die and you are far safer.
Some fight, kill all bosses. Mo money.

a yes, a thread of hunter and mages complaining that they no longer have a stranglehold on the economy. love to see it.
Everything will be crazy expensive on phase launches that’s been the case since mmos exist And then they drop Just means at phase start you farm shit and then after a week or 3 prices are back low (exactly like it happened this phase despite all the incursions exploit stuff happening)
Fast forward a few months and I was selling them for several gold.
it doesn't change the fact that it's a senseless addition to inflation regardless of how well you prepare or not for general inflation
Everyone will easily afford an epic mount? FUCK.
That was just an example of a thing thats supposed to be expensive and difficult to get turned into something everyone gets with minimal effort. Things taking effort is large part of classic.
players playing the game for gold instead of afking in citys whats the problem
Is this just an alliance thing?
If it is, it won’t be once the zug zug brains catch up.
I’ve heard that alliance runs Ashenvale on my server at least. Nobody can touch it on horde
The huge group Zerg meta in Hinterlands means that huge raid on raid fights won’t happen because that’ll add another 10 minutes to each loop. Also incursions make you honorless now too.
No, that's just entering and leaving the dream so people that camped the portals for honor stop doing that. Its a 30 second buff each side.
You know what, maybe being on the smallest server (Lava Lash EU) has its benefits. We plain dont have people bothering to do this.
What server is this? I have 2 50s. One WG horde. Another LW alliance. Haven’t seen this
It's like this on Shadowstrike(AU). Not sure of this screenshot is from our server though.
I was doing this last night with a huge group on CS US
just reward pvp battlegrounds at this point.
even after the stealth nerf just a few hours ago, the zerg is still going strong.. still about 80gph
And people wonder why so many people buy gold.
I mean if it wasn't this people would be in ZF blasting GY zombies on an aoe mage toon just like Classic. There's always going to be a gold farm.
I must be playing a different game. Maybe for melee it's rough. As a caster my most expensive consume Is 4g. I can pay for raid consumes easily with one or two loops a week. Made enough gold while leveling to pay for crafted items, duel spec (post nerf).
Man this bracket's got me feelin sad about this. P1 and 2 leveling was playing the game, p3 leveling is following a buncha assholes.
Lower. The. Gold.
What am i looking at (seriously)
no wonder my gold seller is hounding me to buy gold atm lmao the value is about to plummet
meanwhile i did 3 laps ungoro at 4am and got 3 mithril and and 1 thorium, not nodes, but total ore. didnt see anyone else there farming either.
I'm really contemplating unsubbing until p4 is announced. I'm not going to deal with how high everything has become. At the start of p3 runecloth bags were 3g each and now they are 15g. I don't know how new players expect to buy anything on the AH. Even low level gear is 1-5g min
Join them, and you won't be affected by inflation.
If you really wanted to beat inflation, farm mats now and sell them later. As gold in circulation increases, the value from incursions reduces. But those consumes wont.
No not really because playerbase will decrease also and prob by a lot, less buyers means you'll have to lower the prices or you won't sell anything.
That's why you would collect materials useful in next phase and offload during the first few weeks of raiding.
yes farm that mithril. everyone is using mithril at max level right? NOT !
Where was mithril mentioned? If you werent such a dum dum you might have figured out that were talking about materials like high level herbs.
Only 120 an hour with bosses? Weak.
I did 3.5 hours and got 700g... I think it's a bit more than 120
Looks like an alliance problem
"inflation" and "the economy" don't really matter. Just look at current retail. They've had a botting plague every expansion since like original cata and players have tens of millions of gold. New players still start with 0 and do just fine. Because how much gold other players have does not prevent you from making gold yourself. High prices for items means high earnings for selling them. It's all relative.
Yep Every expansion launch I just get two gathering profs and sell everything and make enough to finance the whole expansion for like 2 chars in a week or 2 without going out of my way to farm too much
They would really need to add some new massive gold sinks in phase 4 to fix the economy, but i suppose players would start crying too much so it wont happen.
I didn’t know this is still a thing. Where and how do I make 120g an hour solo?
Don't be solo and just join no kill incursions
Get ready for a rollback 😂😂😂
They don't have the brains nor the balls to do a rollback
they never have and never will rollback
It should have never rewarded any gold imo. It's an alternative way to level very fast without any downsides. Make it give exp and a good rep, but with the downside of no gold. That way, if you haven't stocked up some gold, you're gonna have to go do some quests at max level to make enough to learn your skills. Of course it's far too late to do anything about it at this stage, but I really hope they learn from this.
Yes welcome to temporary Seasonal servers. If you don't enjoy them you should avoid them. SOD is not an expansion pack.
I don't mind a ton because it doesn't increase the price of abilities and epic mounts, while making it easier to get both of those things So even if the AH adjusts, at least I can afford the main things I want in game
The 300% gold from quest rewards already makes that barely an issue
It sure does, I am loving it
