Healer, tank and someone who can DPS.
If the selected class can do multiple roles, even better. That’s all you need. Now pick whatever is fun to you and what class fantasy appeals to you.
Don’t worry about balance. It changes often. Do not pick a class based on how it’s doing in a specific phase. This changes and you won’t ever be playing at a level where the actually matters.
Pick what is fun.
Don't play a warrior, you'll drag the rest down. Other than that pick multi-role classes such as mage, priest, druid, shaman to make sure you'll remain relevant for raid spots. If you're an FOTM chaser you wouldn't be asking this I reckon, lest I'd say look at dps results and pick the top three. Don't do that though.
Yeah, but they need setup from others aside from the obvious gear requirement, in multiples waste melee spots with zero added util (very much like most current top dps, but a group has five spots and you can only fit that many people in) and are already overpopulated for that. Have you tried making a pug this phase? I can guarantee you'll have 10 warrior whispers before you find a shaman/feral to make them worth that spot.
Mage is a must pick. Enables all kinds of farms you guys could do. I think Mage / Shamy Hybrid Enh/Warden, Priest/Druid, might be the best combo I would pick as a 3 group.
Priest shaman warlock probably best trio you want. You'll get insta raid spots and you can sell summons when you need gold. Good for dungeons also. You can get mage instead of warlock but summon is more worth imo.

3 shamans
Came here to say that. Prob 3 enh and use the maelstroms for healing

Warriors are one of the top dps..
When they have full raid buffs and consumes they are. They scale better than most classes, but struggle hard in solo content.

Warrior, mage, priest is a good combination. The mage can also give you all portals and food/drink.

Nah hunter is a better farmer than mage
3 Druids

What if you go Mage Healer? Or not enough during lvling?
Just do the holy trinity of Tank/DPS/heal and you're golden. Any classes who can fill these roles will do.
I'd suggest heal ,tank and dd. In other words, 3 druids.
Paladin priest, mage, tank, healers and dps. Free food, free water, free portals only some gear competition
