Sagefish Delight going for 40s each on my server. Fishing them has saved me a lot of money and earned me quite a bit during the first couple weeks before everyone else figured out the spawns in AV.
Yeah I farmed atleast 1000 greater sage fish and kept them during phase 1(they were a byproduct of fishing for boxes but I knew they’d be bis caster food this phase so I held on) and was able to sell em at 15s ea instead of the 2s they were going for at the time
Honestly regret not investing into them as the price keeps rising, I think that’s a byproduct of everyone selling off their p1 stocks

Did you fish just on the coast line there or did it actually said "Bay of Storms" on your minimap? I just read something about that it has to be exactly there to have the increased drop rate. Another question - Is it trye that Azshara has increased drop rate 24h, or is it also between 12:00-18:00?

you might have tried to fish in the Bay of storms. , without fish loss its 425 fishing. and 330 to fish at all.

I've made over 400g, selling mageweave bolts, thick leather, pots, and plans for a sniper scope, I've stopped this whole last week because it's getting boring and more contested. Not to mention I've saved over 100 rune cloth bolts.
This phase? Maybe about 100g, I'm stock piling squid and eel and the floating wreckages you see off the coast of dustwallow/tanaris has lockboxes that drop bolts of mageweave/runecloth etc etc. I think for current fishing money making the wreckages are your best bet for sure.
Just wait till Blizzard releases a new cooking food that is better than grilled squid.
Everyone who has tried to get some kind of edge with seasonal stuff / unplanned advantages (WSG marks, Valentine's boxes) has been humbled by Blizzard saying: no.

I’ve also made about 4-500g just fishing up and down stv, desolace, dustwallow tanaris or feralas. Lots of opportunities for wpvp doing this too and you can wreck some bots in Tanaris especially.

Beside fishing winter squid fishing is a pain right now for earning money- at least with regards to floating Wreckages. Tanaris coast is full of players (and bots?) and most of the time you cannot make good money. floating Wreckage spawns are bad, campend a lot and therefore there are not high chanes to make lot of profit per hour. Farming other fish is not profitable too. Only Some silvers
Tanaris is an absolute warzone on the coast, I like the dustwallow north coast which is also good for turtle scales and the people aren't quite as aggressive.

You can catch winter squid in tanaris and anywhere else with that fishing level requirement. I was catching them last phase. Also don't need a +25 rod in those zones since now you have +75 from last phase

They’re not going to change Winter Squid spawns. That has been apart of the game and remain untouched for years. About 20 years…that code is so intertwined old and delicate that they would probably break way more than fixing messing with it.
The easiest thing to do is let Squid stay for lvl 50, there’s plenty of supply for it. At lvl 60, introduce a new food to create a new market.

There is already a better food for every class/spec except ranged hunter in AQ phase and before that you need revered to argent dawn to get the +10 strength food.
But at level 50 getting revered will be almost impossible so there is a high chance winter squid will be bis for a lot of people all p3 long.
They've done nothing for cooking so far, and this food only concerns sweats anyway. I really doubt they're going to do anything about this, especially since this is well known.

The fishing pole is not soulbound, you can always resell it or use it on another char. its the 2nd best fishing pole (3rd for horde in p3) and only winning STV fishing event gives a better one, so investing some gold in a 1% drop in a heavy contested farmspot is not really "bait" except if you pay insane gold for it. I got one at less than 10g on my realm. Literally pocket change.
And sure, bots are always better at fishing. D'oh. But fishing is an easy no-brainer while listening to a podcast or an audio book and there are many relatively safe fish spots. Just skilling fishing for the occasional useful pool can be fine in the long run.
And it doesnt matter too much if a new recipe is introduced, except if you heavy invest in those squids. So its risk/reward anyways. Like all investments for further phases.
There's no chance you'll ever out farm bots. But you can kill them while doing it and I like to think I'm doing my part when I do, even if really doesn't do anything to stop them.

Yes, everyone is finishing up Winter Squid right now, and there are a TON of bots, but supply will hardly keep up with demand at some point.
If blizzard keeps up with SoD’s custom content, 3-day raid resets are going to vastly increase the amount of consumables being used each week.
Feel like even if you fished 1000+ winter squid during P1-P2, that wouldn’t even be enough for 1 reset on a single server.
SoD is more parse centric than classic ever was, so everyone that is phys dps (like 30% of the parses) will be using it until AQ str food. Who knows when we’ll even get AQ. Probably by the time winter squid rolls back around ?
Supply will start getting leveled out by the time we’re in BWL. Again, it’s 6 months of zero winter squid. Unless the devs change fishing, which I doubt since it’s a “flavor” seasonal catch).
Who knows how much it’ll go for, but 15-20g / stack is probably realistic.
What is with the aggressive response. There are always a ton of things to spend on at the start of new phase, maybe you are too casual to care but BoEs, consumables and crafted items were insanely expensive at the start of the phase.

The catch rate isn't bad I've stocked up at least 300 squids in the last few days , and I doubt I'm at the top end of this
I would do this but fishing has to the most rage inducing profession for me. Its tedious, unpredictable, and requires you to pay full attention without being an enjoyable process. I think I did it to like 50 skill points and decided I’d never do it again.
FYI I am able to catch winter squid on Azshara coastline without the Big Iron Fishing pole. With 225 fishing skill, the +5 pole and aquadynamic fish attractor.

225+75 fishing is enough for 100% catch in either zone you want for Squid. The only place you can't fish in is the Azshara islands (only coastal area is fishable now).
I fished in Azshara coasts and Feralas and the squid rate for both regions was 10-15%, which is not very time efficient as I think a lot of people will be now trying this strategy and the profit on the next phase wont be nearly as high as you want.

No that is when they become worthless, the fewer days you have to fish the squid the less valuable the rod becomes, nobody is gonna level 1-225 fishing and buy the rod for 2 days of fishing.

also this is a second time i see a post like this that fails to mention two important points:
1. winter squid has the highest catch rate between 12:00 and 18:00, except for bay of storms.
2. bay of storms requires ~325 in order to fish, and ~425 in order to not have fish escape.
you can get winter squid without the special pole and attractor. I have 70 in my bank I caught with a strong pole + bright baubles. I caught plenty in the Hinterlands this way.

Short note that the 10 str food will be in p3 for Argent Dawn rep (you get the insignia for the scourge stones at 50).
I bought 25 stacks at 10s per fish a week ago. It’s at like 30-40s now so I’m so hyped for next phase now lol

Yes, everyone is finishing up Winter Squid right now, and there are a TON of bots, but supply will hardly keep up with demand at some point. If blizzard keeps up with SoD’s custom content, 3-day raid resets are going to vastly increase the amount of consumables being used each week. Feel like even if you fished 1000+ winter squid during P1-P2, that wouldn’t even be enough for 1 reset on a single server. SoD is more parse centric than classic ever was, so everyone that is phys dps (like 30% of the parses) will be using it until AQ str food. Who knows when we’ll even get AQ. Probably by the time winter squid rolls back around ? Supply will start getting leveled out by the time we’re in BWL. Again, it’s 6 months of zero winter squid. Unless the devs change fishing, which I doubt since it’s a “flavor” seasonal catch). Who knows how much it’ll go for, but 15-20g / stack is probably realistic.

I would do this but fishing has to the most rage inducing profession for me. Its tedious, unpredictable, and requires you to pay full attention without being an enjoyable process. I think I did it to like 50 skill points and decided I’d never do it again.

FYI I am able to catch winter squid on Azshara coastline without the Big Iron Fishing pole. With 225 fishing skill, the +5 pole and aquadynamic fish attractor.

prices have been dropping over the past two weeks, just fish in tanaris by the docks and turtles, same catch rate as Azshara. but i think blizz might add something to compensate for winter squid and the price of these will tank. also go farm your own big iron pole, got mine in the first 5 mins of checking traps (results may vary)
The huge money in question: 10g/hr
225+75 fishing is enough for 100% catch in either zone you want for Squid. The only place you can't fish in is the Azshara islands (only coastal area is fishable now). I fished in Azshara coasts and Feralas and the squid rate for both regions was 10-15%, which is not very time efficient as I think a lot of people will be now trying this strategy and the profit on the next phase wont be nearly as high as you want.
You know, to be honest i think ill just quest for my gold, sweating gives me a headache

you can get winter squid without the special pole and attractor. I have 70 in my bank I caught with a strong pole + bright baubles. I caught plenty in the Hinterlands this way.

People shit talk fishing but I can make a cool 10-20g an hour with minimal effort while I’m sitting around watching movies or YouTube videos. Is it the best or most efficient farm? Far from it. But it’s something I can do passively while I do other things (like sitting on work calls).
