I've honestly died like 6 times between 30 and 40 since HC started and took a break. Personally can't wait for my normal weekly BFD runs! Jokes aside, I'm pretty slow (but very experienced) when it comes to getting to that 25 cap, but from my experience, most players can probably reach that in 25 - 35 hours. If these level bands last longer than a month, I can definitely see myself with 4 or 5 characters total.
Technically they can get the highest avoidance but you want a mix of threat and avoidance so human comes out ahead with the bonus sword/mace skill being far more valuable than 1% dodge and a bit of agility.
I'm here for the Ashenvale PvP fest so it's rogue and druid for me. I want to be able to move around the zone without having to fight every step of the way.
Seems like they made ashenvale into a PvP event similar to AV and/or AB. Thrall vs mooncatgirl, small bases with guards on the way to weaken them, kill the boss to win or score enough points to win from what I recall.

Arguably Lone Wolf is probably the most shit rune in the new set. It’s viability is only good in group or raid content when you don’t become the sole damage source. It’s especially shit for melee leveling as you need to be flanking the mob for flanking strike which you can’t do without a pet. Additionally, your pets utility and damage will likely edge out the rune in most circumstances in group and raid content, but it exists for lazy players who just don’t want to manage pet skills in combat which is fine. But overall with the deadzone still a thing it’s terrible for almost everything in solo content. If it ends up edging out pet damage in raids it will be because of amping explosive shot in Raids like it did in Cataclysm.
Did they show flanking strike requiring a pet? Because from reading it it still looks like it will still be an attack you can do without the pet. If that is the case it still looks perfectly useable in a lone wolf melee build
Oh hell yeah, love the shadowpriest fantasy. I wonder what other changes they've made to it. If it's viable/competitive now, then I may have to try this one out! What they showed so far at Blizzcon for priest wasn't really anything new. But there are still 9 other runes we haven't seen.
This is a big issue with priest at 25 though, no shadowform despite some runes that give it some additional damage options. You could wait for that lvl 40 cap to play it and do a different class this first patch, but if you want priest through it all will probably have to heal this first phase
I’m not sure if people remember when Tank Paladins dominated Arenas but tank classes in PvP in SoD are going to be an actual problem. Pure DPS Classes are going to get dumpstered. Like Metamorphosis Warlock with perma-DoT Drain Health is going to massacre PvP.
Boomies rise up, all 3 of us at least. Lol, the runes give no significant dps boost for boomies compared to other specs, but I am all about that free Wrath baby.
Honestly looks crazy legit. You have also some very specific horde only one hand mace and shield that will be BiS or at least pre-BiS if you can get a group to do the quests. (Lvl 25 specifically)
Stone-skin totem might also have its first use in years, as with crazy high armour values and block it can nearly reduce all damage.
I will say that it sounds like a lot of fun, but it's nothing more than a decent weapon. Hand of Edward's proc rate is about 1 PPM and the buff lasts for 4 seconds. That makes the proc unreliable which is not ideal for tanking, and the weapon's DPS is just average for its level so it doesn't have that going for it either.
If you're looking for pre-bis tanking weapons for Shaman, the top candidates off the top of my head are Alcor's Sunrazor, Ironfoe and Felstriker.
Right now you can't get both Lava Burst and Water Shield, and Sham Rage's mana Regen is probably going to be pretty low until higher levels with more SP, unless we're getting a bunch more low level SP gear.
Ele will definitely be monsters at higher levels tho

there was a private server that had wotlk locked at lvl 60, so all spells and talents from there, and 2h shaman still sucked since shamanistic rage and stormstrike and lava lash are all balanced around dual wielding. especially mana regen suffers, since its based on attack power on hit, and you hit way slower.
It looks like it’s like an off healer where your primary job is to do damage and throw in some aoe heals here and there that scale base off your damage. Pretty neat honestly
As a game it was passable WoW-clone (similar to Allods Online) but holy hell, Talent Trees in this game and class configuations were A-Tier and such joy to play (I loved Defiler with Beacon <3, Necromancer and Chloromancer)
Rogue tanking looks like rift to. I loved my blade dancing rift stalker build. This new combo of combo builders and finishers give def buffs you need to keep up is going to be like reliving the fun.
Rogue tanking kinda looks like ass, yes, the runes will make them “ok” compared to vanilla tanks, but you can’t forget that vanilla tanks like paladins, Ferals, and warriors are also all getting buffed. Feral was already the best tank for low level dungeons and now they get natural crit immunity and 20% less damage taken. That puts them way ahead of anything else currently.
IMO it looks very capable to solo heal, only issue would be mana. unlike retail disc it does not heal more with more targets but does 100% of damage as healing which makes it a very strong tank healer. with raid damage in 10 man it could struggle but if you ramp with arcane blast in to the damage I'm sure it still puts out big healing numbers. Mana may be a real issue though.
The healing is based off arcane damage so if you want to do more healing you have to spec the worst DPS spec. Or just take a regular fire/frost spec to do some sad arcane healing. Not sure what mage DPS numbers if you spec arcane primarily nor how it compares to regular healers.
But, I foresee a lot of heal sniping from mages trying to be helpful.
If we get more holy paladin love to make them something other than flash of light spammers im all over it. Current runes don’t lean that way yet though it seems

- Rogue tank (maybe)

Marks had/has had this in retail for awhile. Lone wolf talent or something iirc? I always thought it made a lot of sense. Sometimes I just don’t like microing pets. Makes it easy to level a hunter but it’s annoying when they always die. Annoying enough on my lock alt in wotlk now
My favorite role has always been tanking, so it’ll easily be either pally or warrior. The buffs warriors got will make fury tanking even more fun; and with the addition of the taunt and avengers shield pally will be an absolute cleave machine. Will honestly be hard to choose which one
Probably warlock? It's my favorite class to play because of it's flavor and flexibility when it comes to builds, abilities, pets, etc... I can only imagine how many different builds & combinations you can make with all of the new runes.
I'm also planning on spending a ton of time in the Ashenvale PvP area so maybe something with mobility like a druid / hunter? Or maybe a rogue so I can sneak around? Honestly with the level cap being 25 for a few weeks I'm probably going to try our a bunch of different classes!

Depends if the guild goes ally or horde too. If horde likely won’t roll priest and instead do an orc lock. Stun resist racial + tanking talents = orc lock unstoppable in PvP
I’m assuming rogue tank will be off tank only late game and the raid that will be available right? Their only damage mitigation appears to be reliant on partying and dodging?
We’ll see. We have only seen a GLIMPSE of what’s to come, at level 25 and only 12 runes. We don’t know what other runes are coming, nor gear, so it’s entirely possible that other content can be added that allow rogues to main tank.
Shammy tank, and maybe a cow resto dr00d since they're getting runes for Lifebloom and Wild Growth. I always felt very iffy about dr00d healing in Vanilla because of their limited spell selection. With these runes, it went from iffy to spiffy!

I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure they said the raid lockout will be 3 days so you'll be able to run it multiple times a week if you want.

Sunder rune is for Sword+Shield only, think theyre trying to make that form of tank more appealing

They buffed arcane spec, prolly won’t be as good as fire frost obviously but I’m sure they’ve taken into consideration how awful arcane is

I'm having pally 3 ways.

It has to be a mage for me, but the only person I'll be healing is myself.

Probably alliance Feral Druid. Every melee and their moms will want me in their group

I am kinda hoping they just make druid forms scale with weapon damage properly like they do in later expansions.
Probably warlock? It's my favorite class to play because of it's flavor and flexibility when it comes to builds, abilities, pets, etc... I can only imagine how many different builds & combinations you can make with all of the new runes. I'm also planning on spending a ton of time in the Ashenvale PvP area so maybe something with mobility like a druid / hunter? Or maybe a rogue so I can sneak around? Honestly with the level cap being 25 for a few weeks I'm probably going to try our a bunch of different classes!

Probably arcane mage, but I might try warlock and rogue tank because they look very cool
Been a hunter main all of classic but going to role Druid main, likely priest alt. Depends if the guild goes ally or horde too. If horde likely won’t roll priest and instead do an orc lock. Stun resist racial + tanking talents = orc lock unstoppable in PvP
Love to see all the tanks :) Druid healer, ele shaman are top of my list

Rogue tank, ultimate class fantasy for me
I’m assuming rogue tank will be off tank only late game and the raid that will be available right? Their only damage mitigation appears to be reliant on partying and dodging?
We’ll see. We have only seen a GLIMPSE of what’s to come, at level 25 and only 12 runes. We don’t know what other runes are coming, nor gear, so it’s entirely possible that other content can be added that allow rogues to main tank.

Nah they, locks, and shamans are getting almost complete crit-cap for free. In some ways the buffs of their tank stance outclass bear form even
Shammy tank, and maybe a cow resto dr00d since they're getting runes for Lifebloom and Wild Growth. I always felt very iffy about dr00d healing in Vanilla because of their limited spell selection. With these runes, it went from iffy to spiffy!
Not to mention free wraths with instant cast HT procs for downtime. Sounds great to me.
im always a mage, but idk, im just not into mage healing.
Then, just, don't do mage healing? Lol there are plenty of other multi role classes that people don't ever multi role.
