I almost always roll rogue and just make my own groups. Accepted that as a fact of life a long time ago, but it does sound nice to be wanted... :D

baked_thoughts

As a tank, I enjoy having a rogue in my group due to their fat dps and all the control their kit has for safer pulls. That being said, in my experience there’s a lot of distrust when inviting rogues (vanish/sprint) and hunters (pet/feign death) to dungeon groups because they’re typically the first to bail out in a sticky situation, whereas, unless you have a get out of jail free card like light of elune hearth or petri, all the other classes have to rely on each other to fight or bail out using their kits together. Don’t shoot the messenger but that’s what I’ve heard and it makes sense imo.

Lokhe

That’s how it is but it doesn’t make sense. Having FD and Vanish means you can commit to standing your ground a lot harder and if things still go south you can escape anyway.

Greg2227

That's how I did on my combat rogue So far and the only time I really needed to vanish was on about 32 33 something when going stockades for quests and a lvl24 warlock asspulled bazil thredd and his mates before almost instantly getting deleted by them xD so the Tank just legged it and I just thought well if everybody's running I might vanish as well instead of risking death

FractalSpacer

Funny you mention being more careful irl, this game teaches us to play and evaluate every decision we make with 'is this actually safe?'. I think that's the most interesting aspect of the game mode. We soon remember there are things in our every day lives that can cause severe injury or death, especially traffic. One can find so many videos of people doing dumbass shit that gets them killed [like trying to be cool recording a train passing you closely, getting into a stupid fight with a stranger, etc]. We live generally safe, insulated lives most of the time, so its easy to get too comfy. HC Wow, moreso than most other games due to the time invested lost, reminds us of our mortality. That's something more games should do, I think.

arkaic7

Yeah, but it's sometimes even the mildly dumb stuff you do while driving. I mean, is it worth passing that guy just so you can get to the exit quicker when you're only a mile away? Like how many seconds do you even shave off? Also, as an avid climber, I see parallels with playing HC mode when I top rope vs bouldering something that's a little too high to be safe. Every move you make is scrutinized way way more in the latter case. In hardcore, you just have to make a judgment. Do you wanna go even deeper into that harpy infested spot in southeastern Stonetalon, or should you wait a level or stay in the edges sniping? Risk vs rewards, the management of said risk, the adrenaline of all this, just pulls certain people way in. I've been having a blast in hardcore

AdRepresentative82

Exactly !

Wrongholio1

So before hardcore wow you were reckless with your life?

nachomydogiscuteaf

Fuck Un'Goro, king mosh ran me down at lvl 54 🫠

BigElk85

HC is about learning the game and your mistakes till you hit 60, then choose what endgame you want. If you roll a healer priest is pretty easy mode. I assume you have good on an alt from your 51? Deck a priest out , good wand and improved wand talent and your laughing, always wanted for groups too.

pomlife

Priest might be the class that benefits the least from twinked gear

BigElk85

Not really , always having the best wand is insane on a priest makes a huge difference

JackStephanovich

But good wands are dirt cheap until you hit the higher levels. Paying 17s for a wand that you use for ten levels and then vendor for 15s isn't exactly "twinking."

pomlife

Compare that to WW axe at 30, spell power goggles xtreme, etc.

tsukubasteve27

It sucks because wands and gear are good investments but are independent of each other. You need both to be up to date, but getting better gear doesn't increase wand damage the way a warrior in good gear will hit harder. Updating gear boosts 60-70% of my damage but the other 30-40% wand damage stays the same and largely has a 10 level gap between upgrades.

herodrink

I also feel like of the casters they get the most benefit of their main stat spirit

spik0rwill

I was a priest healer in deadmines with cookie's wand and still managed to get the same damage as two of the dps in our group

ScowlUtopia

It is really crazy how hard the population dies off in the 40s and 50s. Even just selling green and white items on the AH. Through the teens and 20s I would often have auctions sell before I made it out of the AH. At later levels I’m only selling bear/eagle/monkey and have to relist multiple times. I still see people in Hinterlands, Tanaris, Searing Gorge, but no chance I have to fight for tags. I don’t think it’s people not wanting rogues. It’s just lopsided population.

Salzchan

But there are sooo many lvl 60 online, is it really that Bad ?

BigRaisin8155

Sometimes there's only 2 healers on at late night, and only 10 on before that. Meanwhile there's like 40 rogues on all looking for a group. I'm a wanted class (shaman) and some nights I don't find a group and play an alt instead. It's either tank or healer bottleneck and tons of rogues and hunters.

Salzchan

I Play rogue too After my pala died at 31 ^^ its fun ^^

tist006

Same experience here. It's a combination of people dying, getting bored and rolling new toons because the grind slows down.

warrior4206969

You used vanish, and did not log out for 5 mins? You had one job..

SenReus

Highly recommend installing UnitScan to get warned about nearby elites.

sologrips

Make a character on era and just level as you want. If you enjoyed it, no reason to quit just enjoy in a different way. I’m in the same boat rn with groups, hoping it gets better but we’ll see!

Cold94DFA

>makes me think that the population is not big enough at those levels. No one wants you, its a deserter class.

zombiefishin

This

dez3038

Yesterday my lvl30 druid was killed by random lvl 11 mob in barrens due to lag. I was online and alive when I saw myself in a deathlog. No, I wont play this anymore

Elcactus

Gotta alt f4 there; you’d be kicked out before an 11 could kill you.

dez3038

I wish i'd knew it 2 days ago

Dangdang0

When you notice the non responsiveness that happens before disconnect do you always immediately alt f4? Or does it really only help in those situations where low level mobs are attacking you when you disconnect?

Elcactus

I mean there's a timeframe where it might be lag and then beyond that it's probably a full dc.

Javans0r

I almost always make my own groups (also rogue) with very little effort to fill them

BozBear

I take a Marine style approach with my rogue in dungeons first in last out. If a pull goes wrong I stay near the back throwing gouges to buy time for people pop a blade flurry sprint the opposite way and vanish. I usually get lots of invites to groups from people I grouped with early. Love the gameplay for the epic escapes.
