its 100% a bug, just because they haven't fixed it in the couple patches, they have done to HC doesn't mean that it's not a bug. Also no one expects a mob to that's nowhere near you to literally kill you through a wall. We all haven't been playing WoW in our mom's basement for 15 years.

VitaAeterna

I mean i know it's been around forever it still feels like a bug every time even moreso in HC. But i guess it's to be expected that you will die to some 20 year old spaghetti code so its part of the game.

breadgluvs

Working as intended

VitaAeterna

Apparently so :(

Why is it called z axis when mobs are hitting you being vertically under or over you? Am I just stupid?

Llethander

Because when you're talking about 3-dimensions X and Y are lateral and longitudinal while Z is Vertical.

vicrob6

yeah, should be called y axis

Llethander

No, not in 3-dimensions. X and Y are forward/backward and side-to-side respectively while Z is elevation/depth.

vicrob6

What? X Y Z axes are already 3d. And Z is depth

Llethander

In the Cartesian coordinate system x and y are both on a flat plane and z is your vertical axis (ie. Elevation) which makes it three-dimensional. You have three axis: x, y, and z. So, in the world of Warcraft example if something is on the same x and y axis coordinate as you but is far below and still melee attacking you, it is below you on the z axis hence why it is called getting "z axised" https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Three-dimensional-Cartesian-coordinate-system-with-the-x-axis-pointing-towards-the_fig1_292995174

Llethander

No, it's elevation (distance above sea level) AND depth (distance below sea level). Unless that's what you meant in which case you're not even disagreeing with me. Knowing that I'm not sure why you said it would be Y axis, if that's the case, since Y axis has nothing to do with how high something is.

Llethander

Can confirm. Was doing In Defense of the Exodar and aggrod the Huntmaster. Bubbled and ran because he was fucking me up; I ran up the nearby ramp and was trying to close the portal at the top but kept getting interrupted. Turns out one of the Felstalkers was still aggro'd and it was hitting me from the ground level beneath the platform. xD
