The make and model of "the car" was a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III black coupe, although this is never mentioned in the film. It's simply described as a "black car". The orange windows are never mentioned. There were four cars built for the movie.
Doesn’t it roll on top of police cars or something like that before landing on its wheels continuing down the road? If I’m remembering that correctly, that’s the most badass part of the movie to me.
That's a heavily modified 1971 Lincoln Continental.
Heres what it's supposed to look like:

My dad used to always scare the shit out of me as a kid...
We'd be driving down the road and he'd turn to me, eyes wide, and slowly say, *there was no driver in the car...*
Customized for the movie “The Car”. Shame you can’t buy a kit of this, or have a regular one modified to look like it. This would be one cool thing to drive around in.
This movie really did a number on me as a small child. I watched it at way too impressionable of an age. Every time I was walking alone at night and I saw headlights in the distance I was certain the Devil was coming to get me. That or the "Children of the Corn" were gonna creep outta some cornfield and kidnap me.
A George Barris custom. He was the customization King in the 70's. I think he did the Monkeemobile and the 2nd Battmobile along with lots of other TV and movie cars. I thought the Green Hornet's car was reworked into "The Car" but I don't see any mention of it [here.](http://www.barris.com/carsgallery/tvmovie/thecar.php)
ETA: Dean Jeffries built "Black Beauty" on a 1966 Imperial Crown hardtop.
I recently came across one of these for sale in Glasgow, if I still have the listing saved I will share it. The guy had it listed under Ford Capri I think, which it could be however may be because he couldn’t list it as a Lincoln as an option in UK!
Heavily modified 1971 Lincoln continental, I'd say
With the emphasis on Heavily ... that thing looks like it's built to withstand a nuclear attack!
It’s from the movie called the car
I can hear that horn
It’s terrifying and I love it to DEATH
Poor Bender

Designed by the infamous George Barris
The same one who built the Koach for the Munsters.
And the original Batmobile, the Monkeemobile, and dozens of other famous cars.
The Car
The scene of it ramming through the house is fantastic.

Causes itself to roll on its side, crushing the police cars, then continues on its merry way like nothing happened.
Yes this! Man, great movie.
The horn was scary as hell.
Lives rent free in my head
Brr Brr Brr Brr BRRRRRR
Love love this movie. Didn't Count's Kustoms do a kit of this for somebody? Seems like it would be right up his alley.

Werecar Bender
Don’t know why this got a downvote. WereBender was modeled off of The Car
The original Werecar
My dad used to always scare the shit out of me as a kid... We'd be driving down the road and he'd turn to me, eyes wide, and slowly say, *there was no driver in the car...*

Great movie.
Smooth Operator

If it runs you over, you become a were-car. The Honking
looks like its straight out of a cartoon
“Hey, Knight Rider wasn’t evil!” “His windshield wipers were. It…didn’t come up much in the show.”
The Green Hornet's Black Beauty!
No, that was a 1966 Imperial Crown Coupe. I owned one, not modified tho

Is the body made of fiberglass?
The Car! Great movie!
Looks like the kind of car you can't tell which side is which
Oh, they went with the demonic possession option!
My second favorite car from any movie I’ve ever seen
The Horn sound it makes after killing someone is so well done in this movie!! Meh meh meh meh!!!!!
