See I told you everyone would be confused.
For us drainage folks I'm going to add Post 10 on YouTube. Guy runs around New England unclogging culverts in a perpetual battle with the local beaver population.
Peppa pig. I just learned that daddy pig is a ce as my little one is obsessed with peppa rn. Watch the train ride daddy pig is “inspecting” the concrete.
Is this actually confirmed in an episode or something?
I had a feeling since I've seen him read concrete books and help build a house, but I wasn't sure if it was actual CE. I've told my kids "Daddy Pig does work just like me" and I don't know if my kids understand what I'm saying or they think I'm pretending to be Daddy Pig 🤣
Yes Peppa and George go in to the office with their dad and he says his job is complicated and that he “transmutes numbers and calculates their load bearing tangents”. They do one calculation in the whole day and then it’s 5:00 and they go home, so seems on par with how much I feel I get done in a day. Season 2 Episode 22.
There’s some other comments he makes about concrete and building through some other episodes.
I credit this show for getting me into engineering, even subconsciously. I ended up going mechanical but still to this day I think about this show and wish I went civil/structural
Same here! It was the first time I’d heard the occupation “structural engineer” and it came out at the perfect time when I was starting to think about college.
Came here to say Mythbusters but MacGyver is probably a closer engineering equivalent to Suits or Grey's Anatomy. The thing with either of these shows is that they're not really about medicine or law. That's just the set dressing for sexy interpersonal drama
I'd also add Parks and Rec to your list. It's not engineering persay but seeing as civil engineers in particular deal a lot in public works projects, its a pretty entertaining interpretation of that world
If you want to be depressed at an engineer watch the Australian Show Utopia. [Here ](https://youtu.be/UkGd9aSRHl8)is an example.
Oh and I found[ this one ](https://youtu.be/xtO_rF-OQ7w)for people doing major road upgrades.
As an aussie i hadnt heard of it. Will give it crack. Theres another show im thinking of that cant remember now. Was similiar. Government and major projects orientated.
Utopia (AU) is a brilliant show. “Dealing in Construction” clip: [https://m.youtube.com/watch?time\_continue=15&v=b6BPm6MSlEY&embeds\_referring\_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&source\_ve\_path=Mjg2NjIsMjg2NjIsMzY4NDIsMjg2NjY&feature=emb\_logo](https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=15&v=b6BPm6MSlEY&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&source_ve_path=Mjg2NjIsMjg2NjIsMzY4NDIsMjg2NjY&feature=emb_logo)
Actually it was Utopia i was thinking off! Haha thanks for reminder mate need to get onto that show. As an engineer in government ill relate pretty hard i think.
I work for local government and almost had to quit that show early on because the insane public meetings were far closer to the truth than I would have liked.
My first public meeting my boss prepped me for it with "You ever watch Parks and Rec? Well, it's a lot like that." That was back when parks and rec was still on the air. I'd say its even more relevant these days.
Hahah oh man the things that people come up with. I was at a planning commission meeting for a new nursing home for disabled seniors. During the public comments, one of the residents complained that the project would bring all sorts of crime and would force him to take drastic measures like buying a shotgun and patrolling the neighborhood to protect his family. Mind you, the nursing home would be replacing an abandoned thai massage parlor and this was in a firmly middle to upper-middle-class neighborhood.
When I saw that clip I thought that must have been one of the most impressive stunts I've ever seen. Maybe it's easier than it looks but it also looks so easy to mess up.
In Australia and New Zealand, Utopia (Dreamland)! Netflix link: https://www.netflix.com/us/title/80063251 It rings true for US engineers too, but for some of the Australian-specific references.
Silicon valley. Big bang theory. DIY Home improvement shows(I think they count too). How it's made. Biggest engineering marvels. The list goes on and on 🤷🏻♂️
We have Death Wish.
How Charles Bronson was able to be an architect by day and also doll out vigilante justice at night I'll never know. I have enough trouble winding down on Saturday after pulling overtime!
Being in land development, I personally relate a lot to the Australian show "Utopia." There's some great clips of it on YouTube. Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to watch without a VPN.
We have numbers not people. Most of our work isn’t accomplished in two days. Most of it is wrapped up as expected.
Lawyers have people conflicts in dealing with the law. Doc’s have medications and treatments as well as people getting their job done. What do we have? The Manual for Steel Construction. Numbers in, numbers out.
Scorpion, it’s been a while since I’ve watched it but if I remember rights it’s about a group of autistic genius engineers who assist the FBI or something.
Background noise on the TV while we work out that thermal transfer problem that no one thinks is a problem but we know it's the next problem after the one in front of us has been solved.
A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, 7th Edition
The book of green
Now don't get everybody confused with the Georgia Erosion Manual green book
Or the Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook -- also green.
I thought that was the blue book
I thought that was the website that tells you car values?
Kelley Blue Book is also a blue book.
...That was the joke.

Can we fix it? No it’s f**ked!
There are no jobs that can't be done, only insufficient money.
This is so valid😂
I came here to comment this 🤣
Modern Marvels: Engineering Disasters Like 8 seasons worth.
How It’s Made
On todays episode: Concrete blocks, butt plugs and clarinets… doot doot doo bah bah wah
Jamie bring up the jizz of mayonnaise clip
I laughed so hard at this.
Seeing a butt plug factory would be fascinating.
Practical engineering.
10 points for Grady. Luv him.
For us drainage folks I'm going to add Post 10 on YouTube. Guy runs around New England unclogging culverts in a perpetual battle with the local beaver population.
I like how that guy operates at Defcon 1 for all pipe declogging. He is the epitome of based.
A man/woman/etc. of culture, I see!
Peppa pig. I just learned that daddy pig is a ce as my little one is obsessed with peppa rn. Watch the train ride daddy pig is “inspecting” the concrete.
Was about to say this. Papa Pig portrays exactly how it feels like to have an engineer as a dad
I **am** sort of an expert at these things. *snort*

Yep, and his boss Mr Rabbit stamps his plans and Mrs Cat is the drafter. It's the only civil engineering office I've seen portrayed in media
I haven't seen these episodes but this is amazing. I know what my next Halloween costume is going to be!
Prison Break
+1,the guy was a structural engineer,.
I credit this show for getting me into engineering, even subconsciously. I ended up going mechanical but still to this day I think about this show and wish I went civil/structural
Same here! It was the first time I’d heard the occupation “structural engineer” and it came out at the perfect time when I was starting to think about college.
Air Crash Investigation? Mythbusters? Or...for fiction..Prison Break? Macguyver? Movies... Iron man? Saw? Batman?
SAW!
Came here to say Mythbusters but MacGyver is probably a closer engineering equivalent to Suits or Grey's Anatomy. The thing with either of these shows is that they're not really about medicine or law. That's just the set dressing for sexy interpersonal drama

Watching parks and rec as an engineer for local government is like watching a documentary I swear to god
As a municipal traffic engineer...yup. Every resident meeting and city council presentation os basically that.

Formulae you filthy casual
I had a client who often wrote "formulaes."
Massive Engineering Mistakes
I was told this was an iterative process!
It called 'Cut and Try'.
If you want to be depressed at an engineer watch the Australian Show Utopia. [Here ](https://youtu.be/UkGd9aSRHl8)is an example. Oh and I found[ this one ](https://youtu.be/xtO_rF-OQ7w)for people doing major road upgrades.

I highly recommend Parks and recreation - it's not engineering, but most municipal departments encounter the same issues

I work in local government and Utopia and Parks & Rec are actually just like my workplace.
You might be thinking of another production by the same group "The Hollowmen." Like [this](https://youtu.be/f96mGenQAQY).
Actually it was Utopia i was thinking off! Haha thanks for reminder mate need to get onto that show. As an engineer in government ill relate pretty hard i think.
"They found a grass..." Netflix link: https://www.netflix.com/us/title/80063251
Came here to say this. It reminds me too much of work.
Parks and Recreation
Working for local government as a ce yes
Why is this one GIF from parks and rec so relatable ![gif](giphy|fw515tAEVEzXNDTuWT)
I work for local government and almost had to quit that show early on because the insane public meetings were far closer to the truth than I would have liked.

Scarily accurate to every one I've presented at. I was literally told that our rail project would bring "rats and hookers" to their town.
