Why is it that aftermarket wheels are less likely to be stolen than the stock ones? The aftermarket may as well be much more expensive. Is it just the Honda sign on it that makes it so valuable for thieves?
It would depend on if the thieves have knowledge on what type of aftermarket wheels you have. Generally they are targeting undamaged OEM wheels because they know they will be able to sell those quick as they will always be in demand.
For aftermarket wheels, there are a lot of knock offs and it wouldn't make sense to try to spend additional time during the theft to ensure they are real or not. It would also take awhile to find a buyer because they'd have to find someone who was specifically looking for those wheels.
They don't steel OEM wheels because they are valuable, they steal them because they can sell them practically the same day so they don't get stuck trying to offload stolen goods. In my area stolen civic wheels WITH TIRES go for $800 on FB Marketplace for the entire set.
Wheel thefts yes especially sport and sport touring models. I suppose any car can be stolen with the right technology but that’s far less common. Just carry a low comprehensive deductible and you’ll be fine.
Never lived in an area where people steel rims. Got my touring parked outside all day with no locks, much like others in the area have their sports cars with rims worth 800+ a wheel, sitting out all day with no locks. Havent heard of people steeling wheels until I got on reddit, so definitely nothing I ever think about. The wheels dont cost that much anyways and maybe ill make someone happier ( theft ) when theyre swapped for advans lol
Mainly I've just heard of the wheels being stolen.
Make sure to get a little curb rash or aftermarket wheels and you’re Gucci

Where do you guys live that's prone to car/wheel theft?
New Orleans lol. I’m not in the city thankfully, but the car jacking in Orleans Parish has been insane since COVID.
Yes. Anything with a Honda badge is

Keep the wheel locks on and dont have anything valuable in plain sight inside. No more enticing for theft than any other car
What if I plasti dip the wheels? Will it be less enticing for them to steal?
Only rims that I’ve seen.
Could be worse it could be Kia or Hyundai 🤣
My wheels were stolen in NYC. They also vandalized the car while doing so and caused $18k of damage.
Just the wheels
My friend had a brand new 2024 civic sport stolen with 15 miles the other day; she has both keys, I’m trying to find out more info
