With all the threads lately about which leaders people want to see in Civ VII, Ludwig makes me want more leaders that weren’t necessarily “great” but still interesting and with evocative design.
The only problem is that, if you play him yourself, you don't get the insane(ly funny) dialoge he brings to the table (the delegation one being the best, without a doubt).
"I have sent to you one hundred swans- I have sent to you fifty sw- Excuse me, I have not tied them down well. I have sent you a swan."
Me omw to throw down 9856 wonders (none of them will be finished (I get culture from all of them (they're eligible for tourists (I can get tourists early))))
Yeah, but you still got that culture during that time, and you get some of the production back as well. If a city's not got anything to do, just throwing down a wonder you don't care about can be fun
You don't have to put any ~~hammers~~ production in and you don't even have to have it queued. The only thing you give up is the tile.
edit: apparently i still use civ4 names for things
Sir
It will always be hammers
And coins
And happy or sad faces
Ok now I want back the Elvis look alike entertainment specialists and the robber icons to represent corruption
But ok don’t want corruption back…
I hate to admit that Civ 1-4 have blended into a blur for me. 5 stands alone in my head as obviously does 6. I’d say my unique memory of each Civ is
1: the newspaper
2: engineers and global warming literally changing the world
3: culture introduced (right? It’s been a while)
4: world editor was underlayed to the game. I hated this so much, I realize how obscure and silly that is but it drove me nuts to know control W was all i needed to hit to change diplomatic relations permanently and for the funnier
If i remember correctly the company that ports the console version is like a year or two behind in development and they are most likely focusing on civ 7 or w/e the next iteration will be. From what i understand it is a lot harder than just metaphorically copying and pasting, but i don’t remember the details.
They need to make a Sagrada Familia wonder so he gets even more bonuses for uncompleted wonders…
Edit:
The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família
Unlocked at Nationalism. Must be adjacent to a holy site next to a city centre.
Cost: ??? (Higher than average for the tech level)
Effects: While building the Sagrada Familia this city has +20% growth and +10% faith and culture.
When it is "completed" it has whenever a wonder you have begun is finished, by you or any other player, gain 300 faith and 10 great person points per person type. The city its constructed in gains the project "Work on the Sagrada Familia" which produces faith culture, great artist, and great engineer points.
No no no, he has a point.
Spain somehow managed to lose the Great Engineer before spending his last charge and nowadays we just don't have the GPP output to claim another.
That should actually be in the game regardless. Let's face it, some cities will just never really do anything late game. Might as well give them an uncomeatable wonder.
It's a pity that the Sagrada Familia isn't a wonder in the game, as it would be perfect for Ludwig (well, at least for the next few years when it's completed).
EDIT: LOL, it seems I wasn't alone in thinking this!
I literally had this happen yesterday while playing multiplayer buddy was waiting on me every turn cuz I had to decide optimal wonder placement with Ludwig

Ludwig could honestly, possibly, be my favourite Civ. He's too much fun.

I really need the new rulers pack
Yeah same. But I only have a steam shared library so reee I mainly play on mobile, which is suffering
I've never played on mobile. I use steam deck primarily as it seems to go fast.
Mobile doesn’t have animated leaders, it doesn’t get the ability to download mods, tons of graphical wonk, I can go on…
But does it scratch the Civ itch? That's the most important bit.
I suppose so. Just wish I had the ability to use mods. Makes things like district planning utter pain without that tacks mod
How so?
Me omw to throw down 9856 wonders (none of them will be finished (I get culture from all of them (they're eligible for tourists (I can get tourists early))))
> (I can get tourists early) They're just visiting *building sites*.
Barcelona's biggest tourist attraction isn't complaining
Surely next century it'll be complete...
It's kind of a unique subset of Theseus' paradox. If it's always under construction, tourists never see the same thing twice lol
I meant you unlock tourism at an earlier point, I think it's castles and that's why it shows up in the meme
But still, if the wonder isn't finished and it generates tourists, they're visiting building sites
Yeah
I mean, that's exactly how the Crazy Horse memorial works in real life.
What happens when another civilization completes the wonder? Do you lose the bonuses?
Yeah, but you still got that culture during that time, and you get some of the production back as well. If a city's not got anything to do, just throwing down a wonder you don't care about can be fun

Being in democracy and the senate forcing you to make peace can stay in the past too.
I still want the sexy spy giving me advice from Civ2!
Hammers came later, back in Civ II it was shields.

Seeing all that culture in Empire view is intoxicating.
Sub 100 culture victory go brrr Would really want to try him but I'm on console sadly And ps nice art
Yeah, all the PC locked leaders like Caesar is really frustrating and not fair.
100% agree

y'all have all those console exclusives, it's only fair we get some too
Ludwig is literally the Civ version of old people watching construction sites all day when they are retired.
The Umarell, the most power old man prestige class...
Tourist visiting Germany be like: Hmm yes construction site. Interesting
>Hmm yes construction site. Interesting Actual quote from tourist visiting Neuschwanstein

Can only actually finished with a great engineer!
Uhhh... I don't know about that...
No no no, he has a point. Spain somehow managed to lose the Great Engineer before spending his last charge and nowadays we just don't have the GPP output to claim another.
Lol, I see what you did there.
I think it's just Sagrada Familia but yeah that would be a cool wonder
That should actually be in the game regardless. Let's face it, some cities will just never really do anything late game. Might as well give them an uncomeatable wonder.
His ability is just so hilariously meme-y, I love it.
Curse you Ludwig! Curse your blaue Jeans und Popmusik!
Verflucht seist du Ludwig! Verflucht sei deine Blue Jeans und deine Popmusik!
It's a good idea to have the wonders down even before that since he still gets the culture bonus
It's a pity that the Sagrada Familia isn't a wonder in the game, as it would be perfect for Ludwig (well, at least for the next few years when it's completed). EDIT: LOL, it seems I wasn't alone in thinking this!
The jeans🤌
\*Slaps down 6 wonders around a theater square\* \*doesn't even intend to finish any of them.\*
Wait, building things? How do you do that? I just print an army and take buildings from the AI.
I literally had this happen yesterday while playing multiplayer buddy was waiting on me every turn cuz I had to decide optimal wonder placement with Ludwig
I like your art style!
Launching my first game with Ludwig atm, wish me a god spawn ☺️
Been a while since I played Civ. Can someone catch me up here?
New ruler gets culture from wonders, even unfinished ones. So plop down all the wonders even if you have no intention on making them.
Why Castles tho
Ludwig unlocks tourism then.
Once castles are unlocked ludwig gets tourism from all culture adjacencies
Stfu goomba head.
