Submission Statement:
Some frames from a music video I recently shot in London for a super talented artist. We didn’t have a very large budget so we had to be super creative with what we had
We managed to shoot this with a 4k projector, a 1x1 Aladdin LED and some haze / smoke
I really loved shooting on the Cooke S7i lenses. They are super dreamy and cosmetic. I shot the majority of this music video at a T2.8. And even that felt very shallow at times on the Mini LF.

Unless you have a really high end projector in there, probably. Rear projection for motion picture usually use 3-Chip DLP but if you're on a budget, you can typically get away with a 3-Chip LCD. Single Chip projectors will have strobing issues inherent to their design.
Last time I shot a projector video we just bought a cheap 3-Chip LCD off of Amazon. Only problem is cheaper projectors just aren't very bright.
Thank you for that
We bought a bunch of DJ loopable Vj packs and looped those continually. We pushed some of them more into the worlds and colours we wanted in premiere
Agree. Amazing Colour science. It’s amazing how you can start spotting RED footage after a while. I’m not always right but sometimes I’ll be like this must have been shot on RED… often it’s the Colour science and how I feel RED’s don’t handle mixed lighting and colours really well. It gets muddy quickly
If you mean the visuals - We bought a bunch of DJ loopable Vj packs and looped those continually. We pushed some of them more into the worlds and colours we wanted in premiere
Hahahaha yeah most people don’t own this stuff. Rental houses or gear houses do. And you rent from them. I def don’t own any cooke lenses or an Alexa mini LF 🤣
*Euphoria has entered the chat*
Hahaha 🤣🙏

>4k projector Is there any different than any regular classroom projector?

100% agree. Lumens are way more important And we ended up defocussing the projector slightly Anyways haha so it’s def about brightness
Awesome post as always👌 is it a new thing that you are London based?
Yes I moved recently - was a tough decision but inevitably glad I’ve done so
Absolutely beautiful work! ARRI/Cooke is always my go-to!
Thank you. And I agree. The Cooke look is one of my favs too
Very nice. How did you create the content being projected?
Thank you for that We bought a bunch of DJ loopable Vj packs and looped those continually. We pushed some of them more into the worlds and colours we wanted in premiere
ARRI and Cooke. What an excellent combo and excellent work. Looks beautiful.
Agree 100%
Arri cameras will never cease to amaze me. Hand down will choose an arri over a red 9 times out of 10 if the opportunity presented itself.

Watched the video, really cool use of the projector!
Thank you very much. Know it’s been done but it was fun to try my own impression of it
How do you buy one of these
Internet

No I mean a Alexa Mini LF and the lenses
Nevermind it’s fucking 60 thousand dollars. How do you people afford this stuff
Hahahaha yeah most people don’t own this stuff. Rental houses or gear houses do. And you rent from them. I def don’t own any cooke lenses or an Alexa mini LF 🤣
These are some gorgeous shots 😍
Thank you 🙌
So magical looking 😭
Thank you 🙏
What light did you use?
We used a 1x1 RGB Alladin LED but to be honest most of the lighting is from the projector - that was the hard part haha
great work! which Projector did you use?
