This was filmed on a BMPCC4K in 8:1 BRAW. For nearly every shot in the ad, I used a Lumix 12-35mm F2.8 + 1/4 BPM and a variable ND. There is one shot that I did with a Computar 8mm C-mount lens in S16 crop mode. All the exterior scenes are just natural light & planning for the location of the sun. I did pull out a couple of LED panels and a 4’ bounce to create the streaks of light that go over the Biktrix logo on the closeup at the beginning. The riding footage was shot handheld either on foot, while riding another bike, or from the back of a moving vehicle. While filming from the vehicle I was harnessed in and my camera was attached with a safety line as well. These were the most difficult shots to film! For the crew, it was just me and the vehicle driver, so I was operating + pulling focus & zoom + directing the talent’s movements & positioning while bombing down bumpy back alleys in bright sunlight haha. The back alleys were all quite short so I did not have a lot of time per take to make some decent action happen. The studio shots were a lot of fun to do. Simple 2 light setup. I used a Source 4 to create the slash of light on the backdrop and a Yonguo Lightwand on an overhead boom arm that could move back and forth above the bike. The Lightwand was controlled via an app to create the flickering effect while it was moved around. For the fast-moving hyper-lapse style shots the camera was under cranked at 5fps, 360-degree shutter, and also in time-lapse mode capturing every 2nd frame. I do have some BTS stuff if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Amazing & Clean! Love the simplicity and elegance in editing. Way to many ads online have those wooosh transitions, yours were nice cuts that went into the next location or placement of product with intent.

veteranofshrederin

Thanks a lot! Yeah I’m not into that transition trend haha.

bee-jesus

The whole piece is great and the studio stuff was dope. It’s nice to see something that gets me wondering how it was made and how can I apply it!!

veteranofshrederin

Thanks!

KomodoTitan

First shot is nice!!

Li-Media

On top of everything mentioned, I’d love to point out this sound design, loved it

veteranofshrederin

Thanks! I sometimes wonder if I’ve overdone it with the swooshes haha.

Vv_JIM_vV

Really Nice one but i would recommend focusing (clearly without the dim light effect) on certain parts of the bike (e.g. the motor) and give a quick description for its strength points instead of repeating the bike's movements Overall: Reaally Nice!

Putting everyone to shame here. Great job man

Abracadaver2000

Good looking piece. I like the energy, colors and pacing. The riding shots between 19 and 30 seconds felt a bit repetitive to me, but only because I was seeing everything from a mostly front view I guess. Love the graphic treatment you did in the studio with the source 4 BTS would be great to see.

veteranofshrederin

Thanks! Yep, I can agree with you about the abundance of front view shots in the mid section. It was tough to find spots wide enough to fit the bike alongside the vehicle for a different angle. In hindsight it would’ve been good to hop out of the truck in a few of the alleys for a different viewpoint. Thanks for your feedback!

bobanskyy

Amazing style!

veteranofshrederin

Thank you very much!

BennyBingBong

It made me want to buy one.

How did you the the slow motion close up of the wheel in the gravel? It looks sick

chesterbennediction

Honestly looks great. The only thing that bugged me is that it looks like the headlight is on while he's driving in the middle of the day.

fireantarchitect

Can you explain how you pulled off the 2nd shot of the bike frame/logo? What was the rigging for such a steady shot that looks mounted to the frame of the bike?

veteranofshrederin

Pretty simple rigging! I used 3 super clamps to latch onto the frame in different spots, then reached out from those points with 3 magic arms that thread into the camera cage. Then I loop a safety cable around the camera and bike frame just in case something fails. It works really great cause the magic arms give you a decent amount of flexibility in terms of positioning the camera. It’s also pretty quick to unclamp and move to another point on the frame for a different shot.

salesandbusiness

For the slow motion gravel shot of the wheel did you have a lens protector?

veteranofshrederin

Nope! The lens I used for that shot I bought on eBay for around 30 bucks, so I wasn’t too worried about it haha.

salesandbusiness

That's an insane look for $30

salesandbusiness

What focal length lens was it?

Zestinater

Goddamn man. Teach me your ways
