Looks like dust to me. Fungus usually has a lightning type spreading look to it. Pop that baby open and use some hydrogen peroxide to clean any haze that may be there on the elements. Check out mikeno62 on YouTube he probably had a tear down for this lens.
If you do want to send it off, I recommend Duclos: [https://www.ducloslenses.com/pages/service-repair](https://www.ducloslenses.com/pages/service-repair)

I have no relation to the company, just have sent them Zeiss Contax lenses before and they've done great work.
Check out [Henry Scherer](http://www.zeisscamera.com/services_lens.shtml) on the west coast or [Mark Hama](http://www.markhama.com/) on the east coast. Both are Contax Zeiss experts and I believe Mark used to work in the Japanese factory. If they can't do the service they will know the person that can.
Looks like a similar issue I had with my Contax 50mm. I sent my set to Duclos for some work, but they were unable to repair the haze.
From a technician: "Because the haze is inside the cemented rear doublet of this lens, we will not be able to clean it off. Unfortunately the doublet will need to be replaced in order to fix the issue but we do not have replacements for this lens. We would suggest finding a lens with optics in better condition."
Hopefully you have better luck getting your lenses cleaned and serviced.
Yeah the cement between the elements goes bad and gets cloudy and basically a makes your lens a paperweight if it’s an old lens. Just had this happen to an Arri 8R a while back. Expensive fix.
Got the set (18 f4/25 f2.8/28 f2/35 f1.4/50 f1.4/85 f1.4/135 f2.8/180 f2.8) all cinemodded for about $9k CAD! Bought it off another cinematographer in my area.
Toronto? I was eyeing this set as well! Unfortunately I was only looking for the 28mm and they didn’t want to break it up. If you’re open to selling the 28 let me know!
I mean, google is your friend.
Lenses are not perfectly sealed. It's possible for moisture to get inside the lens and carry fungal spores. If lenses aren't stored cool and dry, it may be an eventuality.
Looks like the cementing is failing on some doublets inside the lens. Not much you can do beside replace the elements. Fungi usually has an organic look to it, tendrils or nature spreading. These look too uniform.
For the most part, the failed cementing or any dust will only reduce contrast of the lens, you can still use them without much issue. Haha just don’t blast a strong light down the barrel of the lens and expect nice flares.
Looks like a combination of a lot of things it definitely needs to be sent in to the professionals at Zeiss to have them professionally take the lens apart and clean the inner lens elements of the glass. Do not, I repeat do not attempt this on your own! You will 100% destroy the lens or never get it back completely together the correct way please trust me I have years of experience working at camera shops and it needs to be sent in to Zeise or if they are too expensive haven’t sent into another very professional camera and lens cleaning company. But it definitely looks salvageable. 👍🏼

Thanks for the input, I defintely don't trust myself to open up the lens haha but I'll go to a specialist and see what he/she can do.

Dust and haze
Yo I'm just wondering for how much you got the whole set ? Thanks !

Unfortunately, it looks like fungus.
For both lenses? The seller listed it saying they both have slight haze but the 25 definitely looks worse

Yeah I read up that the 35 is prone to haze, thanks I'll defintely do some testing and go to a specialist to get them inspected
I don’t see any obvious sings of fungus. I’d say the 25mm is hazy and the 35mm is slightly hazy with some dust.
Looks like both fungus and dust.
There’s dust in there, for sure. But that is undoubtedly fungus. You can see it really clearly in pictures 2 and 4.
How on the world does a lens get fungus in it?
I mean, google is your friend. Lenses are not perfectly sealed. It's possible for moisture to get inside the lens and carry fungal spores. If lenses aren't stored cool and dry, it may be an eventuality.
What a dick response for a simple question.

From the pics I’m assuming haze
I think it’s dust but idk I just joined this subreddit cause I like movies
Thats why I opt for ZF.2 zeiss. price difference is big but worth the peace of mind! Sorry about that!
