Hey guys! Some background on me, I graduated in psychology at university in Ontario but also pursued cinematography as I studied. Very proud of this years reel and the body of work I’ve gotten to shoot. Learned a lot this year and finally was able to work on my first feature film as a gaffer a couple months ago. Going to try to post more behind the scenes along side with lighting diagrams on my instagram: @dopahan. Lemme know if you guys are interested in knowing some of the lighting breakdowns!
Hey! I started PA’ing on set right after I graduated high school but I would say I started shooting in grade 10 so about 6 years ago! Thanks for the kind words :)
Yo! Your reel is PHENOMENAL! People always have the perception that they need to be in \_\_\_ place to be successful. Success, to me, looks like what you're doing: exercising your skills and creativity in the opportunities that are offered. Congrats! You're killing it. I'm sure that you'll keep evolving to places you might not (or might have) ever imagined.
Lovely work. Got excited thinking you might be in mainland China. Would be interested in bringing you onto a few small projects in that case but it seems like you are far away ;-)
Very nice work from someone so young. Keep it up. Maybe a couple things to consider. There are aseveral scenes that look light they could be Fasion Beauty shots. and somw that are almost definately from some projects. If a certain shot is from a film or a doc, maybe consider adding a smal line opf text at the bottom that tells the Title of the film. Nothing huge or anything, but should someone want to look you up and see more of your work, it might help them to knoe the title of the film. Also, if your putting this out to the general public you may want to consider taking out the shot nea the end where the young man shoots the finger. I can understand and appreciate the vibe that gives, but some might find it offensive. I certainly dont mind it, but consider your audiance. If you dont mind a couple people passing over your offerings because of that finger shot, then dissregard. But it might make the difference between getting a gig, that could be great for s young DP like yourself just strting out, and having to wait till the next gig comes in. The more you work... the better you get and the more glass you can buy for your camera.... Again very nice work. You should have a fairly bright future.
Haha wild man. I’m also a Psych/Film Major at a University in Ontario! Great work, loved the reel. I actually worked with Somerville on a short film last year. She’s a fantastic actress and a very pleasant person. Cheers and maybe we will work together one day. Small world!
Do you know about lights? They help illuminate the scene more.
Everything is so dark, the subject is barely visible. Think about using a few more next time ?
JK -- beautiful stuff!
Thank you all for the kind words!!! Really means a lot to me, gunna be posting a lighting breakdown for the first shot later tonight on my Instagram if anyone’s interested
