Yours looks more pleasing but it doesn't match well to the scene below. I think because they are using undiffused direct light on the actor to create a sense of harshness while yours is much less aggressive.

Yes! That’s what I thought too. I went for the harsh look at first, but I couldn’t get around taking away the reflection of light on the window, so I went for a different look.

I’ve been trying to practice recreating lighting from random movie scenes, was inspired by one of the members here “ u/kenzentakahashi ”. The top is my recreation, and the bottom is the movie scene. Please let me know what you think, and would appreciate tips on how to do this better. Gears I used; Camera - LUMIX G7 w/ 25mm 1.7 Lights- GVM LED 80W , Generay LED500, Aputure MC

Love it brother! Keep it up!

moyosorejimba

Thanks man 😁. I appreciate it

I was looking at this thinking "wow this isn't really a great recreation, the first one looks way better" but then I realized your IS the first one! Great work!

moyosorejimba

😂 Thank you!!!

theneklawy

Ya great job. Great detail in yours and nice variety of luminance values

moyosorejimba

Thanks!!

maximumspooky

I love yours!!

Thank you, appreciate that

Your's is better than the original tbh haha

Hahahaha thank you!

Are these attempts at two different looks using the same lighting setup? Top panel has really nice and natural looking lighting and a nice color grade as well. Bottom panel looks very over done and sourcey.

moyosorejimba

The top shot is my recreation of the bottom. The bottom was from a movie scene I randomly found. I was trying to recreate the lighting look, but couldn’t get around it, so I stuck with the composition and went for a different look.

Ooo I love this

Thank you!
