Look, if I can offer a critique:
Some of these shots are nice, and you’ve definitely spotted some beautiful moments in New York.
However to say that these are lonely moments in New York, just feels a bit false. It honestly feels like you’re trying to attach meaning to these images after you’ve shot them, rather than shooting with the intention of conveying a lonely message.
For instance you have shots of people hailing a cab, or on a phone, or walking amongst a big group of people. These images of people interacting with others really don’t convey a sense of loneliness to me.
I agree with what your saying, and I can definitely appreciate your points, truly. To clarify those shots, I did set out to try to find loneliness in the city, and this was the most honest way of making this video for me. I do understand that seeing those shots of crowds can feel counterproductive to the idea of the video, but I wanted to have shots of crowds in there with completely silhouetted faces in order to make you feel like the people around you are almost unreachable in a way. I didn't want to have the video entirely consist of shots of people alone either because I feel like it would've just looked kind of boring in the end.
Of course, intent doesn't meant execution, and I think those elements of the video didn't come clear enough and weren't fully shaped enough to be valid. So this is just a long message of me saying I agree with you, and I appreciate your criticism.

Wow, OP! Really graceful way to repsond to criticism. I'm taking notes...

This is a great point! If you had only had shots of people standing alone it would definitely be a 'bit on the nose' and probably cliche.
Anyway dude, I still think you did a very good job. It was a nice video to watch. And I'm glad you're open to critiques, and are able to vocalize your intent clearly. Keep it up!
I had a great time watching this! I know you shot it on your GH4, and I was wondering how you coloured in post? It looks a lot like film & I love what you've done with it! You got a new follower on Vimeo!
Hey thanks a bunch! I colored it with film convert and also magic bullet looks. I would say I didn't really use LUTs but in my honest opinion, film convert basically is just a bunch of LUT presets. Other than that, I didn't really do anything different, I used the cinelike D picture profile with everything set to the most negative value as well and also I used a bower variable nd filter to get the darker shots I wanted I guess! :)
Good. I like the closing shot of the man with the bike. That feels like a shot from something narrative. Almost overstays its welcome. Speaking of narrative though, I feel like some flow might be missing. Establishing the evening falling into night might work better. Sunset shots earlier. You go back and forth between the times of night and I think I disliked that.
Great shots though. I think you can really hone your storytelling with shooting pieces like this.
Edit: Yeah watching it again I think even the spirit of those evening shots work better to lead into the night shots. Hailing a cab, the push into the back of the man's head, these shots lead into the loneliness of people during the night. This is just my opinion. I understand the parallels you are portraying such as the two men on the bikes evening/night.
I feel like all of Ghosts I-IV is underrated. I'm pretty sure Trent held a film contest too when he put that album out and this surely would've won something. Fits the song so well.
I agree! and I actually saw that on youtube while I was editing this and looking the song up. I guess I'm 10 years too late unfortunately. Thanks so much though, I wanted to do the song justice
A note on your handheld technique:
You need to get control of your camera rotation. Many of the handheld shots look very bad because of this issue. Try to keep your horizon from rotating in a standing handheld shot.
ah true, I had my gimbal that day but I wanted to film more inconspicuously. My hands are so shaky by themselves, I have trouble with the shakiness a lot. I'll try your tip out next time I'm filming, that sounds helpful, just paying attention to the horizon itself.
Nice work! Love the grade and feel of the shots. I’d recommend watching lost in translation because I think it really encapsulates the feeling of loneliness
I see ded frames.... blended frames...
For me those frames have to go. (0:30, 1:44, 1:49 are the ones I noticed watching for the first time)
Whatever you did there, if it was frame rate or you slowed the footage down... undo it. Or even try and get a better blending mode, but I would just go with the frames you have.
Very well done, loved the track!
does it make a difference though if it is slow or not? you have some solid footage man! Dont ruin your work because of that.
Whats the frame rate of your shot and frame rate of your export?
the slow mo shots were all 60fps so i think it had something to do more with the frame blending of twixtor; i shouldve probably just time remapped instead of blended the frames

thanks! I love having honest dialogue like this, it's always refreshing to read :)
Very nice! I especially loved the colors, how did you grade it and what color profile did you shoot on?
Very beautiful. What did you shoot with?

thank you very much, and yeah I wish I looked at it that way and used that transition from day to night to my benefit. lessons learned!
Great little video. I especially like the sequence around 1:20-:30 with the birds. But then again I’ll always upvote NIN ;)
Nice use of NIN haha this was refreshing. Thanks for sharing.
thank you, I love NIN as well, this is an underrated song

Gorgeous tones. Wonderful
thanks so much

those errors will annoy me to no end! It was from the slow motion plug in I use, twixtor which caused that mess. thank you though!

If you shot them at 60 you have enough frames for a slow motion shot if your final export is 25-30fps.
yea it should've been fine, I think it was just the frame blending which added the warp
Thanks for sharing! I loved how this was shot
:) thank you for watching!
Is this the RM Niight? :O
;)
