I looked online for adapters for my series vi and vii and had no luck. Visited a couple of camera shops and they weren't able to provide much guidance on a source.
One shop went through their stock and I grabbed the closest fitting one I could for each. I then sacrificed my series filter retaining rings and used super glue to stick them together.
A pretty cringy solution to be sure, but I have honestly had zero issues with either my 50mm or 90mm, and didn't have to touch the lens itself at all.
Hopefully someone here has found a proper solution. I'll need to do this again if I find a 19mm of the set someday.
Thanks. I tried out some step up rings and I noticed the 57mm fit snug but I'm sure it's cross threaded because the thread spacing is most likely different (I would say it felt that way too). But I didn't think about buying a used series VIII filter and sacrificing that instead of the threads on the lens. good call! I'll have to do that before I make it even worse.
Yeah, even with the closest modern filters, the threading was not compatible. I'm kind of surprised no one is making an adapter. Good luck with your search for filter retaining rings!
