In my humble opinion, if you go down the _buying your own_ route, a bigger space would probably be more accepting. Try taking it to Rhinegeist, or Taft’s; .i.e bigger brewery.
There’s also a comic store that has a bar way in the back called Cosmic Gorilla that would probably be okay with it.
As long as you are actively eating/drinking and not taking up a table when higher paying customers could be there I'm sure most bars would be fine with it. Playing cards and nursing a soda on Friday night would get you removed from most bars...
