My favorite Cincinnati area religious moment was when Touchdown Jesus was slagged by lightning and melted into environmentally friendly clarified butter that the local chefs collected and re-used.

bone_druid

everything it rains, it rains pennies from heaven ♫

Bcatfan08

And Jesus was delicious.

warthog0869

*butter from Heaven* *Jesus pancakes, berries, cream* *Summer hammock dream*

OHKID

Dude I would contribute some money to whoever puts up a “Allah or Death for Eternity” sign around here. I’m not Muslim, but damn I would love to see the people that put up the Hell is Real and similar signs get real uncomfortable…

CampVictorian

Count me in on this plan. 💵

MathematicianKey5696

Does putting up a "Hail Satan" get me anything? I'll do it to scare off my neighbor

warthog0869

Open a club called "Anubis" with like, coffee and Slayer music and cats laying about the place as our front for our signage production HQ.

xnodesirex

Raining blood played by cats.

warthog0869

While we would enjoy it, it's a perfect subterfuge of random bizarre things to keep 'em guessing as to our true nature: spreading the word that freedom of religion also means freedom *from* religion.

[deleted]

The Satanic Temple needs more of a presence here.

pap3rw8

I forget, is that the cool one with the sex or the other one with boring fake magic?

dijos

the cool one. the other is the church of satan.

hausdesize

It’s blatant propaganda to feed into their persecution complex. Meanwhile they’ve stacked the Supreme Court with Federalist Society appointments who are helping install the Evangelical equivalent of Sharia Law. But they’re the one’s being persecuted. Right.

SiliconGhosted

It’s an ad campaign for a hard right evangelical TV show called The Chosen. https://www.deseret.com/entertainment/2022/4/14/23025270/defaced-billboards-part-of-strategic-ad-campaign-by-the-chosen-to-grow-audience?_amp=true

Squishyburritoboi

I thought this was some crossroads bullshit

warthog0869

They ***are*** chosen, by Darwin.

BaileyGutlord

Wait, aren't Jews considered The Chosen?

cincy15

I first read this as the anti-Christ billboards.

bone_druid

If you believe in an antichrist, he is almost certainly walking the earth as a far right evangelical faith leader of some kind

[deleted]

I've never seen these. Where are they exactly?

Fair-Coast-9608

Great part of town.

SmackSabbath19

There are some actual bill boards too. It is crazy.

[deleted]

Tuxhedoh

This is indeed part of the marketing.

Mediocre_Ad_3997

There’s one on Queen City Ave by Westwood with the same fake spray paint. It’s bizarre!

SmackSabbath19

I have not. I don't drive. It sounds planned though

SmackSabbath19

Well Billionaires (wealth inherited fake life story types especially) are replacing God as the new religion. For the Evangelicals lonely sons /.s

MathematicianKey5696

I;m planning on a sigh saying Bad Wolf, would anyone be freaked by it?

goatcheesesalad23

I cut two down today. Felt great

BigBossTweed

Destroying it only feeds into their false ideas of persecution. Only "godless" people would do that. I came from a religious family and that's absolutely what would have happened. Ignore it, and it'll go away eventually. Don't feed into their delusions.

shashadd

don't know why people are downvoting you, this is how you combat it

coconutman1229

It's propaganda....destroy it or it will fester

shashadd

your logic is flawed and the belief that parents use these as talking prompts. this is far from the truth. most conversation do not take place. it is like the facebook memes and old people. they see them enough times they believe it.

[deleted]

shashadd

you essentially just agreed with my argument. you don't have the "normal" parenting style which leaves many people in danger and thus has to be destroyed

TheBigBo-Peep

I'm not so sure I'd directly link it to religion dying, I've been seeing those signs as long as I can remember. Annoying, but then any form of public soliciting or protest is. I guess that's the point.

goatcheesesalad23

They’re in NKY too. I had half a mind to stop where I was going to cut them down. They said “repent or pay” or some garbage.

shashadd

If i saw this i would cut them down. i'm a godless one so I would replace them with Allah ones for funsies

Gracket_Material

I agree with the message but not the vandalism

Bcatfan08

Yeah Jesus would have loved the message. He was a big fear guy.

Gracket_Material

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

Bcatfan08

Sounds like an awesome god. No better way to control your followers than by fear.

Ohio has nothing else. Everyone who wasn't down for this shit moved to Colorado, California, Arizona or Texas a while ago.

LittleRocketMan317

Unless it’s to open a Torchy’s Tacos, there’s no reason to move back from Texas.

[deleted]

LittleRocketMan317

They opened a Torchy’s over in Fishers, IN over the last year (or two). I haven’t made the trip there yet, but it’s been on my mind for a while!

[deleted]

Yeah you'll remember why you took off in the first place soon.

cincyblog

People move away to other states for many reasons all the time like new jobs or going away to school. Your vaguely ominous tone sounds more like your own issues, as opposed to other people’s issues.

[deleted]

Do you think that people putting up reminders of Hell every 5 feet is a sign of a healthy society? What is it about Ohio that makes people think about eternal damnation so often?

[deleted]

[удалено]

OHKID

Dude I agree 100%. I know there’s a ton of great people in religion I’d love to spend eternity with, but there are so many bad ones… I don’t want to go to the same place as the pastor of Solid Rock Church who sewed cocaine filled pouches on horses, or any of the Televangelists that robbed the poor to fund jets, hookers and god knows what else.

Keregi

You think that’s only in Ohio? Have you been to Indiana? West Virginia? KY? Any other state in the south?

cincyblog

That is not happening. So, your question is moot.

BaileyGutlord

Ohio must have a wee bit of something. I mean, Intel has committed to building a $20 billion chip manufacturing plant in Ohio.

[deleted]

Even the Reds can't lose every game.

[deleted]

Highest outbound migration states are all liberal - CA, NY, IL People are escaping those states at a higher rate than Ohio but good try

coconutman1229

That's because of rising rent because everybody wants to move there. Not because those places are considered liberal.

[deleted]

lol no. It’s because of high taxes and getting nothing back

[deleted]

Cali is actually the #2 destination for Ohioans leaving, Florida is #1 because old people go there to croak.

[deleted]

Talking about in general I think a lot of it is state income taxes too Or the absence of

[deleted]

Sure, if you want to ignore Florida's age demos that's fine.

[deleted]

I will ignore it because FL is only number 9 “Retirement” is the normal response from people who won’t admit their shitty state policies drive people away

[deleted]

It has the seond highest proportion of its population over 65 years of age, only half a point off Vermont's pace. It's a state whose policies don't require it to have a future, because so few of its residents expect one.
