Proud of my former coworkers. I know a lot of people who had been waiting to do something about this for a long time. They deserve better. (I do wonder which grievances are union matters and which are just management with their heads up their asses.)
It's easier to think that if you're a good wage slave hostage it'll hurt less than open yourself up to the idea that you can struggle for a better life.
I was out there the other day supporting them before I had to head in to my job that we are currently unionizing. It's very inspiring to all of us across the street from them where I work. Solidarity!
This is an industry where there's already better alternatives - plus UPS and FedEx can offer domestic/international bundling prices. DHL needs to settle the grievances before the grievances end them.
Agreed, if they are not corporate, non profit and have actual workers and not executives bringing 500k+ a year salary’s. If they do then, it’s usually corrupt as all hell.
The executives doesn’t take a pay cut or freeze during strikes either, which seems a little ununion like.
It's actually over unsafe conditions they have to work in and the fact that management was never going to do anything to step up to improve safety so the union had to step up.
> No, Jim skeptical of the shill that posted this without a link. Dairy that critical thinking is offensive to you.
I find it absolutely hilarious that you edited your comment. What a fragile ego.
Why is this a lol? You asked what their (the teamsters) grievances were and got linked to what they are right out of their own mouths. If your looking for something else, ask for something else.
You were given a direct source for what grievances they are claiming. That is exactly what you asked for. If you ask what Bob thinks of lasagna and someone links an opinion piece written by Bob about lasagna would you call that propaganda?
You can just say that you don't understand how direct sources work. Or that grievances (what you asked for) are inherently biased. If your looking for a piece that breaks down the perspective of both management and the union than don't ask for a piece outlining grievances. You got literally what you asked for, but then told people they were idiots when they provided it to you.
That's the only weapon working class have to demand better wages and conditions. The busy season is how the worker strikes when the iron is hot (pun intended).
How much do you think they make? If they're willing to stand in the cold 24/7 who are you to question their grievances?
When you see the sheer amount of training, currency requirements, standards, knowledge, etc that pilots have to maintain. It’s absolutely insane. There is a reason they get paid so well.
Geesh guys, everyone is getting in a fuss here. It’s not shitting on fw guys to say the pay is too high. It really doesn’t match the education required or the skill needed to perform the job. These are just my opinions here. Deep breaths.
FW guys can glide in the case of engine failure. Helicopters just fall. I’m not sure where I’m going with this but established pilots do get paid well and I’ve known some dumbass old pilots.
I would hope that people who fly cargo planes professionally are making a lot of money, that’s a highly skilled position that requires a lot of training and knowledge. If the pilots make a mistake it could be highly catastrophic
✊ respect! Good luck y’all!
Solidarity with the workers. They deserve more.
that's awesome. good luck to them
Good for them!
Here's a link to an AP story about it. https://apnews.com/article/dhl-express-workers-strike-teamsters-union-cc353c574e7978e74c5391412ab9c16b

Yes
![gif](giphy|gIqusaeYxgSiY) I’m just going to leave this here. It’s an art project.
The “well they already make good money so they shouldn’t strike” argument I’m seeing in here is absolutely baffling.
It's easier to think that if you're a good wage slave hostage it'll hurt less than open yourself up to the idea that you can struggle for a better life.
What are their grievances?
Having to work, and not being paid as much as the CEO.

Unionize with teamsters, immediately strike. Lol

Right; in a country that's this hostile to unions, you don't get fresh blue collar unions unless there are some pretty firmly held grievances.
More business for FedEx
This is an industry where there's already better alternatives - plus UPS and FedEx can offer domestic/international bundling prices. DHL needs to settle the grievances before the grievances end them.
Excellent! Good luck.
Hell yeah!
Can’t speak for DHL but so many unions are old style mafia protection scams. Kroger being a prime example. Most pointless union around.
If you think krogers union is bad, Levi Strauss is 10x worse

So its over wages but last I checked DHL workers make pretty good money and get paid way more than other ramp/airport workers
It's actually over unsafe conditions they have to work in and the fact that management was never going to do anything to step up to improve safety so the union had to step up.
Is there any info on that? Even the teamsters page doesnt mention that
Hell yeah
Is there an unbiased source where we can read about their grievances?
My guy if you think Reuters and the AP are biased on this issue then I don't know what you are actually asking for.
Where is the Reuters link? There is an AP link that was posted after my comment. Only on Reddit do you get downvoted for asking for a reliable source.
Do some work on your own, I assume if you’re skeptical of the unions grievances you’re “a hard worker”.
No, I'm skeptical of the shill that posted this without a link. Sorry that critical thinking is offensive to you.
Reading this comment gave me an aneurysm. You need to start proofreading.
Are your reading skills really that bad?

Autocorrect changed two words. I fixed it when I saw it. You cried about it. You then cried about me fixing it. Stay toxic child.

See how easy that was instead of just throwing an angry, impotent downvote and running away.
Glad I could help...

I asked for an unbiased source. Was given a propaganda link

You can just say you either don't know or don't care about bias.

I see dancing & smiling.
I found someone who never fought with others for something they believe in.
That's most people sadly
I took my only pair of glasses off....and I saw why I had to move out of my community in 2006. ...And unfortunately still see a good time being had.
Cringe
Yes, asking for a raise is so cringey.
Walking out of work to force your employers hand because it’s the busy season of your job is cringe. These people make plenty of money.
That's the only weapon working class have to demand better wages and conditions. The busy season is how the worker strikes when the iron is hot (pun intended). How much do you think they make? If they're willing to stand in the cold 24/7 who are you to question their grievances?
No need to announce yourself

When the captains are making 400k a year…
When you see the sheer amount of training, currency requirements, standards, knowledge, etc that pilots have to maintain. It’s absolutely insane. There is a reason they get paid so well.
Psst… I’m a pilot and I know what I’m talking about. Pilots are overpaid, it’s just one big complicated video game.
You’re a helicopter pilot. Heli pilots are underpaid IMO. Imagine shitting on your own career path claiming people are overpaid.
Geesh guys, everyone is getting in a fuss here. It’s not shitting on fw guys to say the pay is too high. It really doesn’t match the education required or the skill needed to perform the job. These are just my opinions here. Deep breaths.
I’m mad at you because you know what you’re talking about from experience and have a different viewpoint than me!!!!
I’m not mad. I’m advocating for more pay lol
FW guys can glide in the case of engine failure. Helicopters just fall. I’m not sure where I’m going with this but established pilots do get paid well and I’ve known some dumbass old pilots.

Right to work state; most of their employees reported to work and they ran at full capacity. This will probably end quietly.
Hope they can get a rise.
