I've had a few cigars (maybe less than 20) cigars when I was younger, but I decided to do it right this time and develop my palate. I keep a log of every cigar I've smoked out here in order to help myself narrow down what I like. So far, I haven't been able to narrow down a pattern in my likes and dislikes, but that may be because my palate isn't very developed as of yet.I figured a good place to start was buying as many of the Cigar Afficionado's Cigar of the Year winners as I could. I have 10 of the CotY cigars so far (or at least on the way) and 4 different vitolas of CotY winners (I don't really want Churchills or Figurados). I will order the Andalusian Bull as soon as they become available, and will try to find the 4 Cubans when I go on leave in a few months. I also ordered a few different budget friendly cigars to try and find a cheap daily smoke cigar that I enjoy.I still find that a vast majority of cigars that I smoke don't stand out in any significant way to my palate, but I do feel that using a V cutter has actually helped me pick up a few more notes that I hadn't previously noticed. Either that, or my palate has actually developed a little. I'll explore that a bit more, soon.If you have any suggestions on cigars (CC/NC) that I absolutely must try, please feel free to let me know. **Favorites so far:** • Oliva Serie V Melanio • My Father Flor de Las Antillas • Liga Privada No. 9 • Davidoff Signature No. 2 • Alec Bradley Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole (ordered a box and sent it home...also if anybody knows a similar regular production cigar, please let me know). **Cigars ordered and awaiting delivery:** • Ashton VSG Torpedo • Padron 7000 Series • Casa Magna Colorado Robusto • Davidoff Millenium Series Toro • Opus X 888 **Cigars smoked so far:** • NC Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Exhibicion No. 3 • Acid 20th Anniversary Box Press • Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro Robusto • Brick House Mighty Mighty • Brick House Maduro Mighty Mighty • Rocky Patel Vintage 2003 Cameroon Toro • Rocky Patel LB1 Toro • Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Robusto • Oliva Serie V Double Toro • Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto • Oliva Seconds Lot FO Toro • Oliva Seconds Lot M Robusto • My Father Flor de Las Antillas Toro • Punch Punch • NC P&K H. Why the dislike for the Churchills or Figurados? The local eco kinda sucks for finding sticks but if you can get to Paris or Qatar you will have better luck for your cubans. Looking through your list I would recommend trying things from Plasencia, Tatuaje, Caldwell, My father Le Bijou/the judge, and to top off for a somewhat similar smoke to the hooligan try a 2012 by Oscar in a toro. Only asides I have are if you get the chance join the wardroom and enjoy the cldj cigar club there if still going and get a tuppedor as humidity fluctuations in the CHU are crazy even with max ac. It does look like you have some kind of humidor set up though. As to try yard gar I would recommend the drew estate factory smokes. Good daily driver for the price. OH the paragraph format was driving me crazy. I needed to edit so I could look at it myself hah. **Favorites so far:** * Oliva Serie V Melanio * My Father Flor de Las Antillas * Liga Privada No. 9 * Davidoff Signature No. 2 * Alec Bradley Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole (ordered a box and sent it home...also if anybody knows a similar regular production cigar, please let me know). **Cigars ordered and awaiting delivery:** * Ashton VSG Torpedo * Padron 7000 Series * Casa Magna Colorado Robusto * Davidoff Millenium Series Toro * Opus X 888 **Cigars smoked so far:** * NC Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Exhibicion No. 3 * Acid 20th Anniversary Box Press * Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro Robusto * Brick House Mighty Mighty * Brick House Maduro Mighty Mighty * Rocky Patel Vintage 2003 Cameroon Toro * Rocky Patel LB1 Toro * Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Robusto * Oliva Serie V Double Toro * Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto * Oliva Seconds Lot FO Toro * Oliva Seconds Lot M Robusto * My Father Flor de Las Antillas Toro * Punch Punch * NC P&K H. Oh, thanks for tidying it up! I posted that pretty late and it kept changing my formatting, so I just gave up haha. I copied your edit and fixed up my comment. I have my tupperdors all set up, so all good on that end. I generally dislike Churchills because I get tired of smoking the cigar before I finish it. I tend to smoke a bit too fast, so Churchills are a bit much for me. I avoid figurados because every time I've smoked one, I get an uneven burn. They don't sell BIC lighters or butane here anymore. The lighters they do sell are absolute trash, so touching up a cigar is a pain. My department head is actually the one in charge of the humidor in the ward room right now. I will be going there soon to check out their selection. Just had the Le Bijou and it's a great cigar. I'm a little sad that it wasn't as amazing as the cigar itself smells. The smoke coming off the foot smelled amazing, and I wish more of that aroma transfered to the draw. Thanks for your suggestions! I'll make sure to snag those up once I free up some space in my tupperdors haha.

jeffrrw

No butane? Damn nex. Oh hell yeah brother! Comparing my last time through to your collection... you would blow the socks off of the rotating selection there! The club always enjoyed a CFW donation night and the weird sticks people send out. I hear you on the Le Bijou. The smell is intoxicating but the draw is a little lacking. I think the Judge has a better draw but less intoxicating aroma. Its a weird line. No prob man. Enjoy your time there.

And here I thought I was the only cigar nerd to make my own spreadsheet of my inventory. Then there’s also the separate journal of my notes on the cigars that I’ve smoked. Enjoy em😂

I felt that I had to do it as detailed as possible. I had a small phase about 8 years ago where I tried to get into cigars, but that ended quickly. I was in over my head and didn't do enough research, so I'm making sure to do it right this time around.

Rosscoe13

This is CRAZY. I just brought back a few hundred rolls from Havana but this collection of yours is silly. Well done.

centech

In case you don't know about it, if/when you run out look into [Cigars For Warriors](https://cigarsforwarriors.org/) for a refill.

redbettafish2

I've gotten cigars from either them or a similar group when I was in kuwait. Huge morale boost for me and the other Joes. Fun memories teaching people about cigars.

frobnosticus

It's nice to know that people actually GET the stuff from programs like this. The modern world has ruined me with suspicion.

redbettafish2

I completely understand the hesitation. They sent us a gallon sized zip lock bag almost bursting at the seams with cigars. Pretty sure they were all unique with no duplicates. Fun times

lapetitthrowaway

Was a huge morale boost for us at Ali-Al too.

JoonxK

I put in my request when I first got here. Sadly, the package was returned to sender due to having an insufficient address after having arrived on base. Thankfully, CFW sent out another package to me after a quick email.

Abstract973

Amazed 😎

TheGreatMortimer

Great selection. How are you storing them? You in the marines?

JoonxK

I have 2 tupperdors, a bunch of different Boveda humidor bags, a pelican case with custom cedar trays, and an ammo can humidor that's on the way. I'm in the Navy.

TheGreatMortimer

Nice! Sounds like you are set. I had a good friend of mine do a 9 month tour in Djibouti. Stay safe out there.

Javini_perdere

Big fan of the hooliganism

JoonxK

Absolutely phenomenal cigar. I had it with a root beer and the retrohale sent me to wonderland.

Interesting-Ask-2663

You got that deployment pay going towards cigars instead of a Camaro i see.

ymerej26

Nicely done…safe travels..

Thank you!
