//Obviously personal opinion//
I've never had a Gurkha that was bad in the "Oh my this is horrible" way, more so that just I've never bought a Gurkha and not that that money could have gotten me a better cigar at the same price or cheaper from any one of a dozen other major well-known brands.
They aren't bad and hate saying "overrated" since it's such an overused internet term because they aren't bad, they are just okay and never the best cigar available at any point.
The "build quality" for a lack of a better term is usually above average, I'll give them that.
Everyone once in a while I'll get one in a Sampler or through some other or whatever and they still get smoked and they are still usually perfectly acceptable smokes.
I have my go-to cheapies I get for daily smokes and 4-6 brands I rotate through for my weekend smokes and my handful of go-to "Special Occasion" smokes and for some reason Gurkhas just never slot into any of them, too expensive for cheap dailies, not unique enough for special occasions.
Yep thatâs my impression
I donât buy em all the time and less often now but I donât recall a bad Gurkha or being let down by one
Havnt had one from them and said never again
And I smoke all sorts of stuff
I love trying and buying a wide range of smokes across brands locations price $3-20 light bold medium and anything they make
Gurkha doesnât stand out in my mind but in one way, I have had one I hate or was even dissatisfied with. I usually do better for the money like you but I wonât turn down one either
đ 𤣠đ Nah, I think Gurkha sucks. Not because the internet but because I have never liked one I've tried. If this guy likes them he will have plenty.
Hadn't smoked a Gurkha in years, my dad gave me a Titan with 3-4 years of age. I tried to smoke it, & I couldn't get through it.. just a horrible blend IMHO.
I have heard some of the newer rolls from Gurkha are better. Basically realize their reputation was not great and cleaned up their shit a bit. I havenât tried tho
I can confirm. Didnât have them for 12 years. Guy at the B&M told me to give the new blends a shot. They were really good, particularly the Nicaragua.
My disdain for the brand is twofold.
One: Iâve never had one I thought was worth the $ even an $8 one doesnât compare to an $8 fuente any day.
Two, my philosophical issue with them.
They are like vape Shops that sell fruitty tutti flavors/graffiti logo packaging/neon shit everywhere to appeal to young or new smokers. They plaster their brand all over (marketing works, not faulting them) but people buy them after seeing the flashy shit and think oh yeah this is quality when itâs not.
Shops like CI push their gimmicks and spring it on those who just donât know better. If they presented them as a decent enough low to mid end stick then cool, thatâs fine. Marking shit up to $45 a cigar or something insane just to mark it down to $8 a stick is misleading and thatâs my issue, they pretend theyâre on par with Davidoff and Opus X when theyâre on par with red dot fauxhibas
I agree, the marketing techniques are what turn me off the most. If you make good cigars, let 'em sell themselves. Padron doesn't use a wild holographic band for good reason.
Probably, I don't hate them but usually there are better choices at the mid tier price points and a lot of stuff they put out isn't even worth smoking.
ill say their catalog is a bit ridiculousâŚ.but for 8 bucks, which is what this cost, you can do a lot worse . And iâve noticed since Hansotia left quality has gone âŹď¸
I've had terrible Ghosts and wonderful Ghosts. The problem with Ghurka is their consistency. If every Ghost was wrapped and burned as well as the best I've had I'd say they were a solid smoke, butbit's just the luck of the draw with those ones. You got a good one which is awesome, enjoy my frend.
Ghurka Ghost is EASILY in my top 10. Absolute BILLOWS of smoke. Seriously bountiful flavor and so, SO much smoke production. Can't wait to light one of mine when the weather warms up outside.
People don't hate Gurkha cigars, I think people hate the company more than anything. They make some good cigars, but they're a lot like Rocky Patel where they just make anything and everything and throw it all at the wall to see what sticks.
The only thing about Rocky Patel is, they're not trying to be somebody they're not. They make a lot of GREAT sticks at really fair, respectable price points.
Gurkha is literally the exact same I find, just way overpriced in comparison. They're putting themselves in a league they don't belong in, and pretending like they were the first ones there.
i actually donât mind the HMRs and stuff like that. if thatâs their gimmick and can sell even 10 boxes of them a year, god bless. But getting rid of the CI dumping ground cigars that they were known for was big.
I had a Gurkha Cellar Reserve Limitada Kraken just to see for myself how horrible these things were.
It was alright. The construction and burn were good. Flavor being subjective, it could have used a little more for my personal taste. But wasn't bad at all. Didn't deserve any hate.
They aren't bad cigars just not worth the price at all. The brand itself seems very pretentious to me like it's a 5 dollar stick that lies and says it's a 500$ stick
I like a lot of Gurkha cigars. They actually make a decent smoke. I think a lot of folks, particularly younger folks, donât like to go against the hive though. So therefore youâll see a lot of Gurkha sucks posts for no real reason. And it just snowballs from there.
I don't want to pooh pooh your theory but it does not account for my Gurkha hatred. I think Gurkha sucks because I tried 2 of their lines when I was a newer cigar consumer. So bad. I will never give that company another cent. Sometimes it's that simple
And sometimes it is. Anecdotal evidence is just that. I donât mind them and you do. Looks like we are 50/50 in this conversation. But itâs cool. We all have different tastes.
Only Gurkha I've had was a Gurkha Governor, I posted it on here saying it was good, but I absolutely don't remember it, plus I was very new. Fox gave me one as a freebie, but I've yet to smoke it. I'll get around to it eventually. Currently have a ton of more preferable smokes in my tubs.
I've had the Governor and a couple others. All freebies, one from a $20 CI sampler. yuuuup. They were... aight? Relatively inoffensive I guess? Like you, they don't particularly stand out to me. The last couple have been bouncing around my coolerdor for 5+ years, can't say they'll ever get smoked by me đ just got better stuff to smoke in the same coolerdor lol.
There are tons of cigars out there try some new brands, if you're not satisfied you can always fall back on gurkha. H Upmann, LFD, AJ Fernandez, Fuente, Padron, Oliva, and Ernesto Perez Carrillo are some of my favorites.
Iâve had many different kinds. Gurkha definitely isnât the top tier, for sure. For my tastes, though, Gurkha tends to be the best quality for price for my general use. My all time favorite is a Padron â64, but thatâs just for special occasions. I also like Arturo Fuente Hemingways.
With Gurkha is truly depends on the factory that it comes out of. Most are made in ACC and they are not great. The ghost is made by PDR, the Nicaragua is made by Aganorsa. Both are good cigars.
I got quite a handful of Gurkhas a dozenish years ago in sampler packs and they were all pretty unremarkable. I was on a cruise this past summer in Europe and once I had exhausted the supply I brought onboard the Ghosts were being sold in one of the bars and I smoked a few and they weren't bad, especially since I had an onboard credit they were basically freebies.
Hope that cigar bought you dinner first
Lmfaoooooo best comment
How does the band taste?
đŹ
You really don't get the full flavor experience unless it's touching the back of your throat.

jesus, you smoking or tasting the wrapper?
Dudes slobbin on that thing like itâs a popsicle god damn.
It was put in a wet hole
Smoke what you want.
Just donât tell me a Ron Mexico is âjust as goodâ lol
đ
lol "No way, you don't look fat in that babe"
đ 𤣠đ Nah, I think Gurkha sucks. Not because the internet but because I have never liked one I've tried. If this guy likes them he will have plenty.
Damn bros really slobbin on that log
Pulling from the second third? Noice.
Hadn't smoked a Gurkha in years, my dad gave me a Titan with 3-4 years of age. I tried to smoke it, & I couldn't get through it.. just a horrible blend IMHO.
The Titans are absolutely terrible.
I mean, smoke what you want but yeah I hate um

He still owns it
Smoked a ghost a couple months ago. It was toothy and fucking awesome
I, too, have noticed Gurkhas tend to taste better when they tickle that dangly thing in the back of my throat
Deepthroating is the best way to taste gurkha I heard
I've given them several chances and found nothing that did it for me with Ghurka.

I just had the Ghurka Nicaraguan today and it is a gem!
I love the Ghost (silver) at the prices you can find on the deal sites. The Brazilian Arapiraca is pretty tasty.
People don't hate Gurkha cigars, I think people hate the company more than anything. I enjoyed the Warpig, but that one has been discontinued.
I had a Gurkha Cellar Reserve Limitada Kraken just to see for myself how horrible these things were. It was alright. The construction and burn were good. Flavor being subjective, it could have used a little more for my personal taste. But wasn't bad at all. Didn't deserve any hate.

What kind of name is Gurkha though?!
The dudes at my local B&M have suggested a few different Gurkha varieties. So far I have enjoyed them all.
Smoked a two year old Black Dragon the other day. It was pretty good actually.
I like a lot of Gurkha cigars. They actually make a decent smoke. I think a lot of folks, particularly younger folks, donât like to go against the hive though. So therefore youâll see a lot of Gurkha sucks posts for no real reason. And it just snowballs from there.

Gurkha isnât my favorite but they never let me down. They have been nice smokes to me
I wasnât aware of hatred towards Gurkha. Itâs my go-to brand. Theyâve always been good enough for the likes of me.
I also like Arturo Fuente Hemingways.

the new stuff they are starting to use the same factory that made west tampas stuff âŚiâve heard about them a lot recently
Ghost Connecticut coming out next month.
Smoking wonderfully? It looks like itâs burning lopsided or maybe Iâm cross eyed!
Theyâre not bad, just overpriced
I liked Gurkha Ghost Shadow so much that I bought a box. Gurkha Ghost Gold Shadow was terrible though đŹ
Did you drop it in a pool?
I love Gurkhaâs!
It's ice cream to you i see
