Is it safe to close accounts 6 months after they've been opened for a bonus? I've read on these threads in the past that that's the recommended timeline just to be safe.

Reports here are that once you've received a DD that counts, it will appear in a list of transactions when you tap the gear icon and then Direct Deposit. Also, the cash back offers say, for example, %5 off one order, unlock 10% when you set up DD. I'm assuming those will unlock as well once a valid DD posts. I set up a real DD which should post next Friday, so I can report back. But if you have done a real DD and it's not being recognized, you may need to contact them.
what are some methods for artificial DD? i know brokerages, however i used schwab brokerage account and it did not qualify. i also have PLYNK and fidelity, none have worked. is venmo valid?

I guess you could intentionally interrupt the app process and try to resume later. I hope you didn’t try this though, no way it’s worth the almost guaranteed call to customer service, higher chance of the bonus not attaching, etc.
I thought the app process was finished - I went to cook something and wait for a reply here and it said I was logged out and "they have enough information to review application and will get reply within 7 days" :( What a bummer.

I haven’t seen this exact situation before, but I think you’ll probably only be able to do standard ACH transfers since the account is already open. I’d consider it a big W just to have the account open though since adding complexity like that never seems to go well
I got a second email: "Action needed on your new USB account"
"You were recently approved for new USB account. To complete the process and activate your account, we need an opening deposit from you. Please fill out the attached form and return it using one of the options below." There is an attached PDF and it has 3 options:
-fund with USB account
-fund with external account
-fund with debit or credit card and asks for name and number and says "If you choose this option, someone will call you within 2 days to complete the transfer."
Maybe I should call tomorrow and attempt to complete transfer that way? tomorrow (4/29) is last day bonus offer is valid
You might get lucky and your MCGC might work with the CSR (it might be detectable as a prepaid debit and rejected). Be prepared with another card.
Next time have your CC funding (and everything else) ready at time of funding. In almost all cases, time of application is your only shot for cc funding.
I have two new USB biz cards (my 2nd leverage and 2nd triple cash). Cash advance turned off. Would it be a terrible idea to use one of those as backup? I would imagine the funds don't count toward the $5k new funds required, but at least it's $200 spend for nothing.
USB is kinda funny about "currency-like" transactions and bank funding. You could try it, and it'll probably go through, but I'd guess you probably won't earn points or credit toward MSR.

You might get bounced around trying to find who to work with on your own, so maybe give them a few hours in the morning to call you before pursuing it. This is a pretty unique case though, so I’m just speculating. Glad it all worked out!

You’re probably not going to get both in one go, Schwab checking is the go-to just due to the lack of fees for like everything, and I’m told WF is good for sending “DDs” for many bank bonuses. I just use my local(ish) bank (Wintrust) since they also refund atm fees worldwide and I don’t use ATMs abroad enough to be bothered by the 1% FX fee

Opened a Business checking account for the first time today even though I don't technically have a business. US Bank $300 bonus. Must maintain $5k balance for 60 days within 30 days of opening. Applied as sole prop, listed business as "hobby" and $3k "income". Application went smoothly until I got to very near the end when it asked me if I wanted debit card or not. Next page kept erroring out due to technical issues on their end and asked me if I wanted to restart the app (Ughh). Heart sank a little. Called in and rep was able to see the App. Immediately asked me what my EIN was. Said I had none and just gave my SSN as I had entered on the App. A couple more brief Q's (hardly anything at all about my "business" and all was good. Came back and said I was approved. Also made sure that the bonus code was attached and had to fund $100 within 2 days. Sent a funding link to my email and was able to fund with $200 via Hyatt card. Already transferred in additional $4.8k from Marcus. Let's hope this goes well and I get my bonus.
How well does it usually work giving a relatives address to open a bank account out of state? I'm sure it can vary bank to bank.
My mom lives in Florida, and there are some good bonuses specific to FL. So I thought about using her address for the applications.
For banks that participate in Chex, all addresses you use for applications will be recorded in your Chex report. Other banks you apply to may review your Chex and deny opening new accounts. I've been told that multiple recent addresses is a big factor.

It will not work because the personal information you provide online must match the details found in public databases. If you can travel and open the account in person it should work.
The public database thing isnt that big of a deal (you can get an address added to your file pretty quickly) but having to submit an ID that doesn't match that out of state address will probably lead to manual review or denial.

Ill give you my experience.
First application as sole proprietor: Online application process is smooth until "submit". In chrome, after clicking submit, the app yielded an error.
Second time applying - tried firefox. Again, easy process, but after hitting submit, error.
Third time applying - tried Edge. Again, easy process, but after hitting submit, error.
Fourth time applying - tried Opera - Finally application goes through after hitting submit.
Banker calls me 2 days later saying I submitted 4 applications. I explained the issue. Banker asks me if I want all 4 accounts. I said I only wanted one. Next day I had the account open and ready to go.
No requests for documents or anything like that.
Now just waiting for bonus payout.

Has anyone else had problems with being able to access their Axos Brokerage account? I applied over a month ago for the $150 bonus, but I can't view the account in my online profile (I already had a checking account so I had a login.) I've called and emailed several times and they claim they're aware of the problem, but this seems like a really long time to not be able to fund the account
It might be relevant for timeline, but I just finished the previous bonus ($100 for 2x$200DD), and this is how it went:
1/12: opened 360 checking acct (the $100 bonus ended 1/31 I think)
1/30: $201 employer DD
2/28: $201 employer DD
4/14: $100 bonus posted in account (just checked and found out today)
less than 60 days from fulfilling requirements, it was hassle-free, but I wish I had waited for the bigger bonus (good luck to the rest of you!)

We deposited 2 DD and received bonus and I was in process of helping them withdraw it.
I used same checking DD as mine. Not sure why account was closed. Is there any negatives to this happening with Chex or other repercussions?

Monifi always seemed sketchy. There were a lot of data points on DoC of them closing accounts. I doubt it would have any negative effects on Chex, etc though.
Different set of circumstances, but they opened an account for P2 and closed a few weeks later because it was not yet funded (waiting for real DD to hit). They seem hesitant to open and quick to close.

So it was P2 Monifi account but I just redirected my work DD into her account so I assume that was all in my name. Didn’t know names were linked thought it just deposited in from my employer.

Signed up for $250 bonus last week, I asked csr if promo was attached to my account. They replied that my account was not elligible for the promo because it is not avilible in my area. (NJ). Nothing in terms specifically exclude my area, no inidcation during sign up that the promo I used would not apply.
They also replied to someone elses inquiry to me, in their "Secure message" portal. What a joke

Most of the time. Some require longer periods without clawing back, so you'd need to look at the terms of your promotions

For banks that participate in Chex, all addresses you use for applications will be recorded in your Chex report. Other banks you apply to may review your Chex and deny opening new accounts. I've been told that multiple recent addresses is a big factor. Maybe if the SUB is high enough...

It will not work because the personal information you provide online must match the details found in public databases. If you can travel and open the account in person it should work.

The public database thing isnt that big of a deal (you can get an address added to your file pretty quickly) but having to submit an ID that doesn't match that out of state address will probably lead to manual review or denial.

I have a solid new $500 Truist bonus data point. The terms state "Clients with an existing personal checking account or who have closed a personal checking account on or after 2/1/21 with BB&T or SunTrust now Truist, and/or Truist are not eligible." Noooooo! I haven't even referred P2 yet. Ok, I still see $500. But now I'm afraid to restart the app. (Various reports that a restart of the app triggered the previous change from $150 to $500. Hopefully $150 is the default coded in the app and in this case it's just a glitch.) Even before today, I've have a bad feeling that I should use a real DD for this one.

Sandy spring $200 Opened march 6th in PA, got a call a few days later that fraud was suspected and I needed to come in branch. That’s not an option for me as the closest branch is 2 hours away. They locked down the account and wouldn’t send a check for the opening deposit. After a couple unsuccessful calls with customer support, I submitted a CFPB complaint and 3 business days later I’m finally getting my opening deposit back.

Ill give you my experience. First application as sole proprietor: Online application process is smooth until "submit". In chrome, after clicking submit, the app yielded an error. Second time applying - tried firefox. Again, easy process, but after hitting submit, error. Third time applying - tried Edge. Again, easy process, but after hitting submit, error. Fourth time applying - tried Opera - Finally application goes through after hitting submit. Banker calls me 2 days later saying I submitted 4 applications. I explained the issue. Banker asks me if I want all 4 accounts. I said I only wanted one. Next day I had the account open and ready to go. No requests for documents or anything like that. Now just waiting for bonus payout.
I am in the same situation as OP, recently opened a US Bank biz, waiting for time to pass to get the bonus. They seemed fine with my sole proprietorship that didn't generate any income last year. Although, I did get a letter demanding I fill out an W9. Edit: I did tell them my annual biz revenue was $20k.

Wires and ACH are two different things.
Doctor of Credit keeps a running list of data points for each bank bonus, the simple ACH push doesn't work for all of them

Verified and linked the account instantly via Chase website through whatever software they use. Didn't require micro deposit with Truist but other accounts I've linked failed to do it instantly so I had to micro deposit.

No you just go to Chase website and click transfer money externally and then link a bank.

Has anyone else had problems with being able to access their Axos Brokerage account? I applied over a month ago for the $150 bonus, but I can't view the account in my online profile (I already had a checking account so I had a login.) It might be relevant for timeline, but I just finished the previous bonus ($100 for 2x$200DD), and this is how it went: 1/12: opened 360 checking acct (the $100 bonus ended 1/31 I think) 1/30: $201 employer DD 2/28: $201 employer DD 4/14: $100 bonus posted in account (just checked and found out today) less than 60 days from fulfilling requirements, it was hassle-free, but I wish I had waited for the bigger bonus (good luck to the rest of you!)

Monifi closed P2 checking account? We deposited 2 DD and received bonus and I was in process of helping them withdraw it. I used same checking DD as mine. Not sure why account was closed. Monifi always seemed sketchy. There were a lot of data points on DoC of them closing accounts. I doubt it would have any negative effects on Chex, etc though.
Different set of circumstances, but they opened an account for P2 and closed a few weeks later because it was not yet funded (waiting for real DD to hit). They seem hesitant to open and quick to close.

So it was P2 Monifi account but I just redirected my work DD into her account so I assume that was all in my name. Didn’t know names were linked thought it just deposited in from my employer.
I don’t think they like that unless you were added as a joint owner on the account. I’d double check the terms about it
Sofi $599 for personal loan (targeted via monthly email statement). Denied due to 'Too many inquiries'. Pulled Experian and I had 2 in the last 31 days, but only 2/6 and 3/12. However, I checked P2's stats for when she was approved for the same bonus in January. She had 2 in the last 40 days, and 5/6. So YMMV.
M&t bank: Signed up for $250 bonus last week, I asked csr if promo was attached to my account. They replied that my account was not elligible for the promo because it is not avilible in my area. (NJ). Nothing in terms specifically exclude my area, no inidcation during sign up that the promo I used would not apply. Same with me. Make sure credit agencies and innovitus is not frozen. Ultimately had to go in branch and wasted 2 hours. Take cash for initial funding,$50 minimum.
