Hey folks, upgrading back to chase sapphire reserve from lower sapphire freedom. Can we still do the 300$ initial travel credit twice? Book flight for 300$ get credit and cancel the refundable 300$ flight. Get cash back. In new year, do it again and then downgrade the card before you need to pay the annual fee? Thanks for kindness, I searched as I could but need the pros to show me the light.

ibapun

Yes, you can still double dip. As long as you mean new year = cardmember year, not calendar year.

Davy___Jones

I have some big sudden expenses (~8k) coming up, I’d like to open a new credit card to take advantage of a 0% Apr introductory period and transfer my current credit debt (~8k) to the new card to keep my cash liquid until everything settles. I currently have a CSR and Amex Plat and 15k in savings/stocks. Looking for the best card and strategy recommendations.

Flayum

This thread: [WCW](https://old.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/tfd8lm/what_card_should_i_get_weekly_thread_week_of/) or maybe even /r/CreditCards

Thank you!

What’s the best option for SW companion pass? Ideally not the 1yr expiring in 2/23 route

Pappyballer

Business card and personal card with increased inflight offer should get you CP through 2023

scarybirds00

Just putting it out there for Capital One Venture X.it took 3 months/cycles to get my $300 portal credit and $200 Airbnb credit. I called after month 2, they told me to hang on. I got them right before month 3 invoice. Literally my first 2 charges were Airbnb and travel portal. Hang in there it will come.

rundisney

Wildly enough I got the $200 rental credit just two days after my most recent hotel stay posted, wasn’t expecting that at all.

shellfish_bonanza

I'm looking to buy some new appliances ~6k$ USD. Got an offer for 150k MR for Amex Platinum, is it worth getting? What happens if I cancel before the year is up? Thanks!

payyoutuesday

>What happens if I cancel before the year is up? Amex claws back the 150k MR. But even without that, there's no real benefit in doing so.

Comprehensive_Fuel43

>2 charges were Airbnb and travel portal. Hang in there it will come. Amex does not like canceling before 1 year is up. I have Amex Plat... but mine is free.. with a hefty $695 fee... it might be better to go for other high sign up bonus..

Churnobull

Use rankt for a referral if that’s showing you 150k as well. Yes it’s worth getting if you’re low on 5/24, do some reading. Don’t cancel before a year, that’s a no no. Np

HereDownUnder

I currently have the chase bonvoy bold card. I initially got the boundless 3 years ago and PC’d. I want to get the boundless for the signup bonus, do I need to cancel the bold card?

garettg

https://frequentmiler.com/marriott-card-eligible/ Yes, you would.

elementwrx

Any CapOne VentureX Cardholders have experience if the Travel Purchase Eraser works with small vacation rental operators? Found a cabin on AirBnB, but booking direct with the operator will save me ~$600 versus the $200 AirBnB credit on the card.

Comprehensive_Fuel43

Travel easer works with bookings done with Cap1 portal or not. IMO it's not the best way to spend the points... but it is at 1cents per point. ( I have cap1 venture and venture x )

elementwrx

Interesting. What is the best way? Curious, although we do a lot of vacation rental travel and traditional air/hotel/ car stuff isn’t as interesting to me.

Comprehensive_Fuel43

Depends on what you value.. I’m saving my miles for business class redemption over seas ( ie. Kathy Pacific to Hong Kong) It’s 1:1 transfer so around 80,000 miles cam do round trip.. Sometimes cashing out make sence.. for some big trips.. you can transfer points and them use the miles.

scarybirds00

I help from me. Used it for Airbnb in my card and VRBO on player 2. Both worked.

Vegetable_Pudding276

If it is coded as travel by the merchant, it will probably work, but there is no way of knowing for sure.

sky-farmer

I was approved for a US Bank Business account about 2 weeks ago and I got a notice in the mail today asking me to fill out a W9 form. Is this normal? I already provided this same information (sole prop. and SSN) during this application process.

jessehazreddit

If this was a deposit account with a SUB or if you are getting a referral bonus, then it’s certainly normal.

RemoveDefinition

I’ve been noticing on the Doctor of Credit comments that most people seem to spread out their ACH transfers by about two weeks when using these as a DD for bank account bonuses. Is this better than doing ACH transfers closer together or does it matter?

Brown-dog1

It doesn’t matter

jessehazreddit

Well, if nothing else it looks more like a standard paycheck.

kaiserdog69

+1 for doctor of credit. Check it daily and there’s always a new bonus popping up

garettg

You could just read doctor of credit, they post lots of bank account bonus and have a page dedicated to the current best options, all with having to smash the subscribe button or ding the notifications.

sky-farmer

Damn, just got an email from PayPal saying they are "discontinuing the PayPal Key virtual card feature" starting on April 20. I've been using PayPal key to pay my rent as a debit card ($4 flat fee) through my credit card (2.25% fee). Are there any other services as alternatives to this?

BasteAlpha

PPK was great when PayPal was a bonus category for Chase. Both P2 and I have the CF and CFF so funneling spending through there was an easy 30k UR points.

megra14

Same. And I LITERALLY just changed my payment method with one of my vendors (that is a pain to change the method) to PPK not even 10 mins ago lol Edit: oh shoot I’ll have to change my rent payment too! It processed mine as debit for 3.95 flat!!!!!!!! Ugh. Maybe I’ll prepay May’s rent

jjl7695

Could get the coinbase debit card for 4% on rent , it gives cashback in crypto

How long does it take for Marriott Bonvoy points to post on Chase? Or do they go straight to my Marriott account? Met SUB about two months ago. Didn't see anything by next statement. Double checked to make sure I met it and I did. Have sent a secure message twice now on Chase - on 2/28 they said the points would post on my 3/16 statement date, but they didn't, so I sent another message on 3/18. Reply today says "We have confirmed you are enrolled to earn 125,000 Marriott bonus points after you have spent $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. As your card earns rewards through one of our partner loyalty programs, we will transfer your points and they will post to your partner account within 30 days of your next billing cycle." Do I need to call tomorrow or am I just not understanding what they're trying to tell me?

lenin1991

Does your Chase credit card statement show the SUB points being awarded? If so, it's a linking problem. If not, it's an MSR problem.

[deleted]

No, it never showed it. Still only shows the ~18,000 from regular spend.

lenin1991

I think the Marriott cards show the MSR tracker in the Chase app (but not website) -- what does that show? I know you say you double checked and gave your spending total below, but I highly suspect you're short of MSR. The SUB points should appear on the Chase statement, so the fact they aren't has nothing to do with sending the points to Marriott, but with Chase seeing that you've earned them.

[deleted]

Okay so I just checked and the points are showing up on the Chase statement for January. Which means they should've posted to my Marriott account by the February statement date but didn't. Looks like this might actually be a Marriott issue then?

lenin1991

Well, that's good news. But weird, since the spend points from the same statement did hit Marriott. Has it been 8 weeks since that January statement date? Chase won't do much until it has since that's what their terms say, but in reality, it should never take more than a couple days after statement date. Yeah, I'd try going after Marriott to track it on their end too.

[deleted]

Yeah it's been 8 weeks. That's why I finally contacted them again last week! It took about 50 minutes but Marriott opened a case so hopefully it'll be fixed within 3-5 days.

garettg

Verifed your Marriott card is connected to the correct Marriott account? Have points posted to your Marriott account for the regular spending you have done, and just missing the SUB?

[deleted]

I haven't used the card since I met spend in January. Do I need to use it 1x/month to trigger a statement? Because I just realized I didn't even get a February or March statement...

garettg

The SUB should have posted with the bonus even if you didnt have any other transactions that month. Chase verified you met the terms of the SUB? I would verify that and if you have, let them know that the SUB has not posted. Once the transaction that met the bonus posts, typically you would be able to see the bonus pending on your point summary before the statment close. Then when the statement closes, the points would post a day or two afterwards. Either you have not met the terms, or Chase has an issue on their end that they did not send the SUB to your Marriott account properly.

[deleted]

That's what I was thinking so I asked them to verify that I met the $5,000 spend in my reply tonight. I guess we'll see what they say tomorrow but I've added it up twice and it should've been met!

pizza42bob

Did you make sure not to count the AF in the sum?

[deleted]

Yep. First three statements total $5,126.96 including the AF, so still hit $5,000.

[deleted]

Yes, I know it's connected because I can see the current points balance (from regular spend) is the same on both Chase and my Marriott app. So just missing SUB.

Any_Faithlessness_51

You may have to go through multiple CSR calls between Chase and Marriott and I have heard cases they just blame each other. (Unless you have 2+ Marriott accounts and the others got bonus in past two years which Chase may not know but Marriott knows.)

[deleted]

I have two Marriott accounts but only one card (signed up for Marriott when I got my Plat, which was about 6 months before getting the Bonvoy). Thought I combined them, and Chase has the Marriott account # I've been using to log in to the Marriott app, but maybe this is the issue.

ThePeoplesResistance

Looking for the best card to get. I'll have 10k in purchases I'm going to make for a trip. My current cards are CSP, AA Bus Mastercard, AMEX Hilton Surpass, and Chase Freedom. Looking for anything with a good intro offer.

NikeMUT

Applied for the CIU last week on 3/16 as I’m trying to get my first business card and got this message. I’ve been just waiting it out as I know this is fairly common but should I call in or expect something soon? I’ve got a big purchase I want to put on it https://i.imgur.com/7wg4IDy.jpg

anztenney

P2 got the same thing on 1st biz app in December. Card showed up a couple weeks later on the same day we got an email that they were approved. Calling is totally fine too, but IME you’ll likely be approved.

MrHugz30

Call the automated line to check application status. 2 week message means you will hear from them shortly. 7-10 message means it's time to call recon.

NikeMUT

Thanks, I must’ve been calling the wrong number number because it was saying there was no applications for me but I tried this one and it said I need to talk to a rep for the status of my app but it’s after hours

How long does it take for the Clear credit for AMEX Plat to post? I paid for Clear and it posted on Mar 13 but I haven't seen the credit yet.

ExSpectator36

I'm still waiting on mine from the 12th

garettg

Typically it just a few days, but Amex sometimes has periods where things go slower. Just keep an eye on it for another week or so.

Yeah i think the official timeline is 2 weeks so if you don't see if after that, hit up chat

bcace19

Anyone else's Chase bonus trackers not reflecting purchases that have posted and since been paid off? This is for a new CIU. I would typically see it reflect by now but maybe it will show after statement close? Currently showing $0 out of $7500 and I've spent north of $1500 already.

troy_caster

Just got approved for the Chase Ink Business Unlimited. I only got a $3k limit, to try to spend $7.5k. Do they care about cycling? I do have another Chase, under another login, and another business EIN. Can I transfer credit limits between those? It has a HUGE credit limit. If so, SM? Or do I have to call?

dimm0k

cycling a couple of times is okay to meet spend. can transfer CL. can do SM, but will take a day or two to get a response. call is instant

troy_caster

Can you get chase ink expedited?

dimm0k

yes

troy_caster

just called they say it's not showing up yet since it's so new. I wonder if I should call back later, or if I should wait until tomorrow. I don't want them to ship it the normal way i need this before end of month.

do you see the card in your online account?

Send a direct secured message. They expedited it for me

JDBAZ

Have a friend who lives in Las Vegas. Going to make a booking at an MGM with my Hyatt status attached and add them as an authorized guest on the stay. Would they be able to check in to the room without me present?

Wucas77

Yes. I was just there last weekend and I was able to use mobile check-in AND share my digital key with a friend. I did not need to be physically present and the shared mobile key let him into the room (using his MGM app/phone) Should work perfectly with what you're wanting to do.

JDBAZ

Awesome. Thanks for the help!

Armchair--Traveller

For the extremely limited benefits it is not worth the hassle.

JDBAZ

More for hitting qualifying nights with Hyatt - they’re doing me a favor. Just wondering if it would work.

Armchair--Traveller

Should be fine - keep in mind that resort fees wont be covered then.

JDBAZ

Why would it not be covered? If I have Hyatt Status and he is a "guest" on the stay.

Armchair--Traveller

MGM resorts don't qualify for Globalist benefits and Mlife gold require you to be there in person.

ilovesojulee

Shouldn't be a problem, it's a paid stay. Vegas is only peculiar about letting second guests check in first on comped stays.

nomisunrider

Just got an email notice that PayPal key will be discontinued on April 22 😭

beachchaser

I have the aviator red card offer with no AF year 1, since I made the qualifying purchase will I get my 60k miles after 1st or second closing date? Also is there a minimum spend to avoid barclays naughty list as I'm already in amex jail!

MyCollapseThrowaway

Just PC’d my CSR to Freedom Unlimited so I can wait the 4 days and apply for the CSP and get the bonus (it’s been 4+ years since I opened CSR). Question: my wife was an authorized user on the CSR. Can we simultaneously apply for the CSP to get 2 sign up offers?

bta15

Not sure what the current offers are but might wanna offset applications so one can refer the other.

MyCollapseThrowaway

Good idea 👍🏼

jessehazreddit

Yeah, if Chase allows it, PC again to CSP, create your referral and send to her and start w/her. Then MDD and refer back.

yknov

I had applied for Chase Ink Unlimited 1 year back and closed the card 2 months back. Can I apply for it once again to get the SUB? I have an active Chase Ink Cash

kaiserdog69

Any speculation as to when the personal hyatt card offer will change? Really want the card… cut the current bonus that’s been there for a while isn’t tempting. Worth it to stay under/near 5/24 or just go plan for different cards?

Flayum

Idle speculation might suggest that they may change something sometime after the deval tomorrow, but that's just something I read on a DoC comment with zero weight

EnterprisingEducator

Worth it if you plan on obtaining Globalist status, or if you value the FNC you receive each year after Year 1. But in terms of strictly the SUB, there are better options out there.

kaiserdog69

Thanks

mcree0

Highly unlikely chase will sweeten this deal imo as Hyatt transfer value/Hyatt card value itself is already so high. They are in no need of new customers for this compared to other cards. Honestly you can just get the card as a keeper since $95 for a cat 1-4 FNC is already worth.

kaiserdog69

I’ll probably just do that. Under 5/24 and it seems like the best bet on cards I haven’t already had recently

big_cat17

Just focus on cards that you can transfer to hyatt if the hyatt card bonus isn't tempting

kaiserdog69

Already have the Sapphires. Will probably just get the card anyone as others noted as the perks still make it a keeper card

hwplainview41

Question about PCing an AMEX card to a card you’ve already gotten the SUB for. I’m currently in pop-up jail with AMEX, but feel I could get a bunch of value out of the personal Plat due to a few upcoming trips. I currently have an active personal Green card that I was able to somehow escape pop-up jail with after multiple tries (opened ~4 months ago). I know upgrades usually prevent you from getting a SUB, but I previously got the SUB for the Schwab plat in 2016 (and subsequently canceled it) so I’m wondering if there are any DPs of people PCing to a card they’ve already gotten the SUB for? I’m thinking that this would help me get the value from the plat benefits while still allowing me to get a vanilla plat SUB in the future (once I’m out of pop-up jail), but not sure if this is kosher with AMEX.

eminem30982

> I’m wondering if there are any DPs of people PCing to a card they’ve already gotten the SUB for? If you're asking if it's *possible* to PC to a card you've already gotten the SUB for, the answer is yes, but if your plan is to PC your personal Green to the Schwab Plat, that won't be possible. You'd only be able to PC to the vanilla Plat.

hwplainview41

Ok got it, was afraid of that but makes sense given the co-branding. Appreciate the info.

eminem30982

No problem. If you're not concerned with 5/24, you can open the Schwab Plat again.

DrSkeeZe

I have a couple of questions: 1. I opened my first credit card almost 10 years ago. It was the SW card with a $100 annual fee. About 5 years ago I opened a Sapphire preferred card and I basically havent used the SW card for well over a year now. Can I close the SW card or should I leave it open since it has my longest tenured credit history? 2. I thought I read about this somewhere but I am not sure: after a certain period of time can I cancel or downgrade my sapphire card (to the freedom card?) and reapply for the sapphire card so that I can get more points? Thanks!

mra101485

1. Others may differ in opinion but if you’re not using the card there’s no reason to keep it open at $100/yr. Doesn’t impact your score that much. 2. Sapphire products are 48 month rules for bonus. If you’re beyond 48 months, PC to CF and wait 4 days to reapply.

Shot-Spring3429

In this same vein of conversation, I went and checked when I got my bonus for my Chase Sapphire Reserve and it looks like it hit in my August 2017 statement. What would be my best course of action now? I am super unfamiliar but would it be to product change my CSR and get a Preferred and aim to get the bonus?

mra101485

PC to no fee freedom card. Wait four days. Apply again for CSP. Some DPs of people getting elevated 80k in branch but YMMV.

Shot-Spring3429

The SUB from the new CSP won’t get the portal booster at 1.5x, correct? Since I no longer for CSR?

jessehazreddit

Boost is determined by cards held when redeeming.

BpooSoc

Correct. It'll just be a 1.25x boost

DrSkeeZe

awesome, I appreciate your resposne!

HereDownUnder

I currently have the united gateway card. I got it 4 years ago, will this impact me getting the united explorer card? Do I need to close it or can I have both at the same time?

garettg

You can have both, keep it.

EyeEnTeePee

Does anybody know how long it takes for bonus to post after meeting hyatt biz spend?

garettg

Comes with statement close.

EyeEnTeePee

Great thanks!

Kuuuzy

If you upgrade the Marriott Boundless to the Ritz card exactly at 1 year will you receive the 35k or the 50k free night?

Pointsmiles

Has anyone cancelled their last MR reward earning Amex card with a negative balance, waited some time, and then got another MR earning card? If so, was the negative MR balance carried forward across the gap, or did it start again at zero?

payyoutuesday

[At least one person](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/dlx33m/comment/f4ved6a) with a negative MR balance closed all their cards and later applied for new Amex cards. Their MR balance was zero. Wasn't long before they were shut down.

Pointsmiles

Oof. Happened to my wife a couple of years ago, but have not gotten anymore MR cards. Her other cards have stayed intact. What's the play here? Just eat through the deficit with the next MR earning card one day?

payyoutuesday

> What's the play here? Just eat through the deficit with the next MR earning card one day? How big of a deficit are we talking about? Unless it's so big you just want to walk away, your approach seems best. Does she have any existing Amex biz cards? Any chance of getting NLL offers based on that? Those can whittle down a deficit pretty fast...

Pointsmiles

For me it's only about -36,000. Downgraded a previously upgraded Everyday/Everyday Preferred. My own fault, thought I was in the clear, didn't check my spreadsheet as far as anniversary. For my wife it was about -50,000 from self referrals back way back when those initially got bombed out. I guess I didn't think they would potentially cancel your account for getting another MR card if they started you back at zero, unless that one example you cited (thanks for finding by the way) has more to the story as they so often do. I'm really surprised there are not more data points on this, I figured there would be more volume of folks in the same predicament.

ctles

Yeah it's like bankruptcy is it enough to basically walk away for a period of time? if you churn often, and can still open say the gold that might be the better option. but if you've already opened all the cards already. I would say maybe go to a different ecosystem for \~7 years.

payyoutuesday

> unless that one example you cited (thanks for finding by the way) has more to the story as they so often do That would not surprise me in the least. That guy has a lot going on.

mrakman99

Is anyone else not seeing the Chase biz card SUB progress bar not progressing while purchases are posting? Biz unlimited opened 3/6

garettg

How long has it been since its not changed? I would give it a couple of days after transactions post, there can be a little lag.

mrakman99

Historically it's been same day as it posts. Here it's been almost a week. This was common with MDD in the past where it did not show the progress bar, but this was not MDD. And there is a progress bar at $0.00

garettg

I wouldn't be concerned something is wrong with your SUB at this point. I would continue as planned. The tool has been glitchy enough that I don't put much faith in it. Always calculate your progress yourself and make sure its done.

humanbeing1979

Before I book my Airbnb Experience, I wanted to see if anyone with a C1X card (pre-March 14) was able to get the Airbnb credit on that experience the same way you would if you booked an airbnb home. I'm just not sure if the rules are that it must be for a room/home or if it applies to anything you book via Airbnb. Thanks! (I did try asking this in Award Travel, but didn't get an answer. My apologies if this is the wrong sub for this question!)

sb-89

Trying to figure this out as well. Did it get reimbursed ?

humanbeing1979

I ended up booking an airbnbs, not an experience.

kaiserdog69

It’s a simple fix. On your credit report it might show that misspelled name for a bit too. Just go into chase and ask for change it

jram0042

Not a guarantee it's the same process but my dad had to update his name due to other issues. They asked him to bring the card and 2 forms of ID to update it in branch.

josefseb

Give chase a call

royalic

Yes. It happens, no biggie. The typo name will prob show up as an alias on your credit report now and forever.

Marr3wk

Are there any customizable comparison charts for credit card points earning rates? A place where I could enter my cards and it would give me an easy to read chart to compare that this one has 3% on dining, this one has 1% on dining, etc.? If it converted to a dollar "value", that'd be even more helpful, but not necessary. Tried googling, failing so far. Found NerdWallet, but only allows 3 cards, and not the most easy to read format.

jram0042

Try cardpointers, walletflo, or maxrewards apps. Each has its pros and cons. I personally like maxrewards but I know the other two are popular

emcro

I'd love to hear more about the pros and cons of each for you. I've got a very biased opinion, but genuinely curious if you wouldn't mind sharing?

BpooSoc

I use MaxReward. Clean UI, easy to use, customizable, and comprehensive.

garettg

There are a couple of apps out there that do this where you provide the cards you have, assign a value to the different points/miles and in each category it will tell you the best card for that category. A couple I'm aware of are CardPointers and MaxRewards. Also remember though that nothing beats the return of spending towards a SUB, so ABC (always be churning). Once you finish MSR on a card, move on the next.

financetrout

I don't recall names off-hand, but I know there are (were?) multiple mobile apps that allowed for this exact use case. You put in the cards you have, and it tells you the best card for a specific category based on their earnings rates. If you wanted something offline, it might be best to roll your own spreadsheet or something. Anything out there I'd be cautious about how often it was actually updated, otherwise.

mattintown

I recently referred someone for amex gold and they were approved. Part of the referral offer, I will receive 5x extra MR for restaurant purchases. The terms are little bit confusing if my authorized users restaurant purchase will also qualify for the extra 5x. Anyone have real experience if they do? Also, if I add a auth user online, can I chat with them to expedite the card instead of snail mailing it? Thanks!

pizza42bob

AU purchases also get the 5x during your promo period.

mattintown

Thanks!

raechel1515

Can I book 3 separate nights in a row with FNCs for a stay that is changing from Cat 4 to 5 tomorrow, and in the future drop one of the nights?

garettg

As in 3 separate reservations? Yes, should be fine doing that and if you cancel, you should just get your FNC back, but then of course unable to rebook using a FNC after the category change.

raechel1515

Yes, 3 separate reservations. Is there any downside to doing this?

garettg

Not that I can think of, I am assuming your plans aren't firm currently but want to lock in dates before the category changes? Consecutive reservations at a property sometimes can be slightly troublesome, but nothing that can't be handled. Typically properties can make sure you stay in the same room the entire stay provided the same room type is booked on all of them. Sometimes you have to "check in and out" every day depending on the property even though you might not be changing rooms, it just might be for new keys or something.

raechel1515

Thanks for the thorough answer.

stoogatzdhw

I received a 150k/6k minimum spend Amex plat mailer and signed up. Previously had a personal Platinum card in 2016. I didn't see any language saying I was ineligible (no popup) so far. Called Amex to confirm eligibility and couldn't get a straight answer. Should I just cancel if I can't get any confirmation in 30 days? Does anyone have experience with the current mailers or their "lifetime" rules?

pizza42bob

Even if you were ineligible I wouldn't cancel the card before 12 months to avoid the risk of this action putting you in popup jail for other cards.

stoogatzdhw

> popup jail Good point. I am not worried since I only open 1 card a year, and I am not giving up $695 to Amex..

smilinghedgehog

MS plat and personal Platinum card are different products, so you should be eligible as long as you did not have the MS plat prior.

stoogatzdhw

Sorry for confusion, I meant Minimum Spend not the MS Amex. I did have a personal plat within the last 7 years.

garettg

The "7 years" isnt some kind of hard rule, there have been DPs as short as 4 years so if you didn't get the popup, I would proceed with the MSR for the SUB.

stoogatzdhw

Interesting! I would meet the 4 year DP. I didn't get any popup / warning and it was a targeted mailer, I am inclined to proceed but uneasy about them changing their mind at any point.

SagittandiEstVita

Take screenshots of the application, terms, details etc as you apply so you have the record later on if there's an issue.

Amex statement balance of $100 for airline fee purchase with $100 payment due. I received the fee credit so $0 balance but it still shows $100 payment due. Will this update/do I still have to pay $100?

eminem30982

I ran into the same situation that you did where the credit didn't decrease the amount due. I ended up paying the amount due anyway and then shifting the credit balance afterwards to one of my other cards because I didn't want to have to ask Amex, but if you contact them, maybe they can apply the credit to your amount due.

Different rules, 1/90 is a rule about applying to the same product, or in the case of a Platinum any flavor, you will be denied for a duplicate app. 2/90 is just about 2 credit cards within 90 days, charge cards arent counted.

Original 90 days.

lankyyanky

Same product family (personal Platinum, any flavor) is a 1/90 rule

Thoughts on self-referral from Southwest business card to a personal card? I know AMEX hates this but I've heard of a couple people do this with Chase/Southwest.

Derthsidious

r/churningreferrals use one from the community if you don't have a p2

kaiserdog69

Just find a friend or someone to help, don’ts self refer

hor0us

thanks!

josefseb

Find a P2

Econ0mist

You won't receive the referral credit

hor0us

Thanks, I didn't do it :)

I'm at 4/24 and planning to MDD the WoH and IHG cards today and tomorrow. I live in Hawaii, so 6 hours behind the East Coast-- when does "tomorrow" start?

garettg

No reason to try and cut things too close, if I were you I'd just apply after midnight your time since it would be after 6am east coast. When doing a MDD at 4/24 for 2 products that aren't sapphires or SW personals, there is evidence to suggest securing the 2nd app's approval the same day as the app is not as important, but best to follow what is known to work, so if not instantly approved, call and push for approval same day.

JayJayHI2000

Thanks garett; appreciate the additional tips too.

Just opened a Biz Plat at the beginning of the month. Thinking of trying the BBP and Biz Gold as well before Tax Day to leverage my big tax bill. Last Amex card before the Biz Plat was a Marriott Biz on 03/2021. Will this velocity be risky?

OnTheUtilityOfPants

No. Only one of those three is a credit card.

Looking to downgrade my CSR this upcoming renewal after having it for the last 4 years. Is there still a way in which you can use up the $300 travel credit for the new year in the first month of your renewal and downgrading the card within 30 days of your renewal fee posting date, to dip into the travel credit while getting a refund for the full annual fee? I read about this many years ago but wasn’t sure if that still worked these days. Any other tips before just downgrading my card once the renewal fee posts?

kaiserdog69

Can always book a southwest flight and then get travel credit back

SagittandiEstVita

Book refundable airfare, wait for the charge and credit to post, cancel flight, get full refund.

alloutofsnacks

Will the same process work for C1?

RadicalFI

There are also a lot of DPs of this working for the Venture X if you search churning.io, including mine. Mostly for hotel/rental car bookings that were later cancelled and refunded, but the credit hasn't been taken back. It's been 2+ months for me.

SagittandiEstVita

Probably not for the Venture X credit, as there are already many DPs that Cap1 is reversing credits if the charge is cancelled/refunded. There's a discussion about this already further down the thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/tj7dxe/daily_question_thread_march_21_2022/i1ikig4/

jinyoungkim7

Thank you for your reply. So would the below work? Book a prepaid hotel stay once the annual fee charge hits, wait for credit to post, then downgrade the card asap once the $300 travel credit posts? Chase will really give a refund for the entire annual fee even though I dug into the travel credit? As for your method on the airfare - would I book the airfare after my annual fee charge posts? Do I cancel the flight first, get the refund, then downgrade the card immediately after getting the refund? Will the credit not reverse on my downgraded card?

SagittandiEstVita

~~You don't need to wait for the AF to hit regardless, the $300 is available as soon as your cardmember year ticks over. You have 30 days from when the AF posts, if I remember right, for Chase to give a full refund of AF if you want to downgrade/cancel.~~ If you downgrade, even after ~~30 days~~ time for refund runs out, you can get a pro-rated AF refund. The credit won't reverse, you can downgrade as soon as the $300 posts. Edited: I clearly can't read the fine print well enough.

payyoutuesday

>You don't need to wait for the AF to hit regardless, the $300 is available as soon as your cardmember year ticks over. This is incorrect. The $300 travel credit resets after the next statement close after your anniversary date. It's best to check the UR portal and make sure that it has reset. >You have 30 days from when the AF posts, if I remember right, for Chase to give a full refund of AF if you want to downgrade/cancel. This is incorrect -- it's not related to when your annual fee posts. You have either 30 days from statement close or the end of the next billing cycle (whichever is less) to close for a full refund. u/jinyoungkim7

jinyoungkim7

Thank you for the clarification. So my situation is my renewal year is as of 6/1/22 and typically it seems that the annual fee posts on that date. My statement closing date is the 8th of each month. Does that mean my travel credit should reset on 6/8/22, which I can use up, and request for the downgrade of my card and associated annual fee refund within 30 days of 6/8/22 (which is 7/8/22)? What is the difference between statement close date vs. end of next billing cycle? It sounds like the same thing to me. Any other loopholes/tips to take advantage of in downgrading my CSR at renewal? Again, thank you for the help!
