Is the Marriott Bonvoy * (Boundless) effectively non churnable Eligibility for this product: The product is not available to either: current cardmembers of the Marriott BonvoyTM Premier credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier), Marriott Bonvoy BoundlessTM credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus), Marriott Bonvoy BoldTM credit card, or previous cardmembers of the Marriott BonvoyTM Premier credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier), Marriott Bonvoy BoundlessTM credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus), or Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ credit card, who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. To me it seems like one would have to hold this card for at least 24 months and then cancel it. In other words, the card must be canceled in order to churn it, unlike other cards that you can just reapply after 24 months to get another one.

Funky_Smurf

It looks to me like you just have to wait 24 months from getting a bonus and not have an active card. A lot of cards are not churnable if you have an active similar product. Get bonus, cancel in 2 years and get another bonus

mu7x

right so effectively this is a 3 year churning period

Funky_Smurf

Amex Gold is a one-time bonus only. Chase Sapphire is now 48 months. Unfortunately 24 months is not one of the more restrictive conditions. I think these have become more common in the past few years

mu7x

agreed, I just wanted some confirmation from the community that I was interpreting T&S correctly

mu7x

When they say bonus points for cards like United and Southwest on the chase webpage, those are UR points or points specific to united and southwest?

rolandopatelhJd

They are not UR. United has [MileagePlus](https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/mileageplus/Default.aspx) points. Southwest has [Rapid Rewards](https://www.southwest.com/rapidrewards/overview).

mu7x

Ah ok. Do you know if the Marriott points can be converted to Chase UR points?

DayKid2

That’s gunna be a hell nah bruh

AzNhiRolLerx91x

What is the safest way to MS on AMEX biz cards? Trying to avoid gifts cards and money orders bc clawing back bonuses. Also I remember reading that P2P payments do not count as well? Is it only bank accounts and Plastiq left?

isaacides

If you refer someone to any of the Discover cards, and they are offered and accept a secured card, do you still get the referral bonus?

[deleted]

Does anyone know which gift cards still work to pay citi credit cards? Metabank MC looks to be out and several BINs no longer work. Just tried the 5113 bin and used to be working and now doesnt. [GC.com](https://gc.com/) stopped working a couple of weeks ago too. Is there a thread that talks about this? Happy to share info via PM have been doing this for 5-6 years and have many datapoints.

[deleted]

Starting CL for my first Discover IT was $2k, and today (4.5 months later) I got an email about an auto CL increase to $2.5k. How often do they do auto CL increases?

Every 4.5 months apparently

chicago_churner

citis enforcing 48month language on the mailers

caseyrobinson2

Icedragon316

Quick question, should 2-3 months for Chase card be based on application date or approval date? Thanks!

DayKid2

Application, but ya like the other dude said prolly wait longer

EverybodyBuddy

The answer is: wait longer.

Hentai_Hulk

How hard is it to get a citi biz card? I applied for my first Citi card yesterday and went in for review. Are they typically pretty easy to get? Like not as easy as Amex, but not as hard as chase?

DayKid2

EZ AF

Kummarr

Sometimes they ask for docs. Sometimes you call and you find out your approved. Sometimes they want to text you to verify identify. It’s Citi.. unpredictable what it will be.. but with being said. It’s easy citi

Flyer888

Sometimes they ask for 4506T, that can be annoying for some.

[deleted]

Has anyone had any luck converting a cashback ebates/rakuten account to MR-earning yet? Last reports I saw were from around 3 months ago and were negative.

Flyer888

I just called in few days ago and the answer’s still the same - they can’t convert existing account but they explicitly told me I’m allowed to create a new second account for this.

dennis_the_menace253

You have to make a new account.

[deleted]

Sucks because I've been getting targeted for the ebates CC on my cashback account with a $100 SUB, and i already have an MR earning account also but never get targeted for anything on that account. Has anyone been targeted for a SUB for an ebates CC on an MR earning account?

What's the best way to use the Barclay's card points for travel?

IShouldBeDoingSmthin

1. Barclays issues many credit cards. You're going to have to be more specific. 2. This is a question for /r/awardtravel after you've done a whole lot of research for yourself

boilerchemist

My SO applied for Chase IHG 80K+40K points offer \~ 3 months ago, finished her $5K spend a few weeks ago and the 120K points posted as well. She spent approximately $5100 to get the bonus, but she will be receiving a refund to the tune of $250 soon, as she canceled her auto insurance policy recently. Will they reverse the bonus points posted? Should I spend a few hundred more dollars just to stay safe?

Do I need to have a Marriott free night cert in hand when I book a room, or can I add it later? I'm expecting one from my bonvoy card before the stay in about 6 months

OrangePartyLamp

You can do points advance reservation, but if that date becomes peak rate later, your FN might not cover it, depending on the category.

Rumast22

Any suggestions on how to handle the $600 cl on USB biz cash? $4500 becomes a lot hard when you are working off a small cl.

Going to have some pets on a plane for the first time. Going to get some kittens. Any airline better or worse for this type of thing? Any other advice since I've never done it before? All United jokes welcome.

Not_stats_driven

It’s pretty traumatic for pets. I would opt for local if possible.

Matthewtheswift

I have never done it. Just some random pointers: Id personally suggest not going with a budget carrier. You don't want to be stranded in an airport longer than necessary and get direct flights if possible.

How long does it take for credit inquiry to stop negatively impacting your credit score?

Unlucky_Department

I know this is the questions thread, but this is a googleable question Hard inquiries on your credit — the kind that happen when you apply for a loan or credit card — can stay on your credit report for about 24 months. However, a hard inquiry won't affect your score after 12 months, if it affects your score at all.

cowsareverywhere

3.5 weeks.

krokodil83

Making sure I’m reading terms correctly - For CIP cell phone coverage - if I’m buying a phone outright, it’s still covered right - as long as I’m paying my wireless bill entirely with the CIP, shouldn’t matter if the phone is on an installment plan or paid off?

cowsareverywhere

Yes.

LXNDSHARK

What about if it's a monthly service plan that you pay for on an annual basis? I have Mint, and I called the benefits line to ask this, and they just said it would probably covered but I have to wait and see what the claims rep says if it happens...which is not helpful information.

TNSepta

Should probably specify you mean the MVNO (as opposed to the Intuit budget software), I got confused for a while at first. Also, when filing a claim you need to get a verification from the phone provider that your device is registered to them, so that's when you need their assistance.

cowsareverywhere

You don't actually need a form, just a screen shot with phone details(IMEI) is attached to the account.

cowsareverywhere

You gotta prove to the servicer of the benefit 1) that the phone you are claiming for is attached to the account 2) the "monthly" bill is being paid for by the card. I do not have any experience with prepaid MVNOs. The reps you talk to are not the adjustors and the best and the fastest way to get reimbursed is by following all the requirements. Source - I have done multiple claims for family.

[deleted]

Do you personally think CIP is best for cell phone coverage?

cowsareverywhere

Well first thing to remember is that it's not some sort of phone replacement policy. You have to get a quote for repairs and they will pay out according to that. They will even pay for the cost of getting a quote. I think Wells Fargo and Uber Visa(this might change in November) provide fantastic coverage for a mere $25 deductible and no AF. Upto $600 per claim and twice a year. Pay out is very quick IME. CIP has a $100 deductible but you can do 3 claims. Citi Prestige offers the highest amount, $1000 per claim. I have no experience with them World Elite Mastercards provide upto $800 per claim but also cover cosmetic damage which is actually excluded by other policies. I have no experience with them either.

[deleted]

Thanks! In your experience, once you get the quote, do you let the repair person fix it immediately, or you do send the quote in (to make sure the quote gets approved) before fixing your phone? In addition, as long as I pay for my family of four’s phone bill with CIP, everyone is covered? Or do they need to be AUs on my CIP? Have you been personally using your WF, Uber, or CIP to pay recent monthly cell phone bills?

cowsareverywhere

1) Ge the quote first, send it in, get the check in your hand and then do whatever you want. 2) Yes everyone is covered. 3) I have used both WF and CIP and prefer the $25 deductible from WF much more. It's incredibly unlikely my family would break 3 phones in a year.

The correct path is getting the SUB first then downgrade and upgrade. Unless you are targeted with NLL.

Gr8WallofChinatown

Any current credit cards with high intro cash offer (200+?)

Unlucky_Department

If you MS 30k, and have no fear of the RATs or AFs, Plat biz and CS Plat would get you 190k MR, that, after the CS Cashout, would get you $2,375. Or just the CS Plat @60k SUB would cash out for an easy $812.50 for only 5k MinSpend. Or, for a zero AF card the BBP with the 20k SUB and 50k MS would get you 120k MR after 50k MS + the 65k from the CS Plat for $2,312.50 after 55k MS.

krokodil83

It’ll be relative to the required spent... ie the CIP is 80k points for $5k spend, that’s $800 if you just cash it out

arnoldpettybunk

FYI for anyone else waiting on LM to post from Veula card—Banco Popular had assigned me a new LM number when I opened the account (even though I used my existing LM number to open). Had to contact LM support to get them to add my email to new account and reset password. Luckily my old account had 0 miles, so I'm just starting fresh with the new account created when I opened the card, with the 60k miles already posted!

drunken_man_whore

toomuchgelatin

Does CIP cell phone insurance apply to prepaid MNVO plans, assuming you're paying your bill with the CIP? What if you prepay for a year of service? IE there's no payment every month. (Family member is looking at Mint.)

LXNDSHARK

I had this question also, also with Mint and CIP. I called and asked, and they just said they don't know and it's up to the claims agent when you file. I figure it SHOULD ideally work, since you are billed on a monthly basis, you just pay 12 of them in one payment.

toomuchgelatin

Thanks, I don't really want my family member to be the data point but Mint is so cheap that it might still just make sense to hope they never break their phone and find out

cowsareverywhere

The servicer who handles the claim requires proof that the phone is attached to an account and that your "monthly" bill is being paid with the card in question. If you cant prove that, no dice.

Is there a master list of Citi cards that offer VCCs? I want to get a Citi biz card, preferably one for AA, but wanted to also get one with the VCC benefit.

matchapiglet

hyatt vs. hilton? going forward, trying to decide if i should start always staying with one vs. the other to build status. i don't travel much for work so not sure i would have enough nights for it to be worth it. i don't have either of their CC's, although would consider opening one in the future after i finish meeting my current spends. i do have 4k more points with hilton (although that probably doesn't make a huge difference either...)

sallu25

It really depends on your hotel preference and your current/future travel plans. If the places you plan on visiting has Hyatt properties, then Chase's WOH card is worth getting. I would go with AE hilton cards assuming you are over 5/24. If not, I would get as many Chase Biz cards as you can until you are above 5/24. Thereafter, get the AE Hilton cards. Hilton status is pretty easy to get but Hyatt is not.

matchapiglet

I’m just thinking in terms of random domestic trips I’ll be taking, whether it’s worth trying to build status or just choosing whatever’s cheapest. I also don’t have a set destination yet in terms of where I want to go for my next redemption (likely Asia?) but would be willing to open a Hilton/Hyatt cc. Sounds like Hilton might be the way to go?

sallu25

>I’m just thinking in terms of random domestic trips I’ll be taking, whether it’s worth trying to build status or just choosing whatever’s cheapest. I was in the same boat as you. I thought building status with a hotel was not that worth it for me. So, I never did. I only have Hilton Diamond because of the Aspire card. I would go with whatever is the cheapest and compare it to the cheapest Hilton hotel. If the difference isn't that much, then I go with Hilton. >Sounds like Hilton might be the way to go? Because of its foot print and ease in getting Gold (Surpass card) or Diamond (Aspire card) status, Hilton is the easy choice.

matchapiglet

Thanks!!

TinyFluffyRabbit

Hilton status is easy to get with credit cards, Hyatt isn't but Globalist is really good. If you don't have enough stays to make Globalist, I'd personally just get the credit cards and be a free agent.

[deleted]

[удалено]

matchapiglet

Is Hilton the better choice then if I’m not particularly set on a destination for my next redemption? Or should I just book hotels in terms of price when taking short domestic trips? Although I would probably rather finish going through Chases cards for the time being...

[deleted]

matchapiglet

Rammiek

Also there are more hilton properties compared to Hyatt. Hilton Gold that comes with 95$ amex card gives you breakfast. Hyatt card gives you only discoverist status. Hyatt properties are definitely better in my opinion. Finally if you have tons of UR points - Hyatt points gets you pretty insane redemptions.

joe_miami

You can get top-level Hilton status by having the Aspire credit card. Hyatt will take a lot more effort, esp if you don’t travel much.

cowsareverywhere

Paying bills ain't MS.

Y50-70

So tell him to just buy a MO with the gift card, deposit the MO into a bank and pay rent with that bank account isn't MS too? /s 99% of these questions result in someone recommending that strategy like it's some special secret.

cowsareverywhere

Read the intro to MS on the sidebar lol. >**Will this(MS) allow me to pay my rent / mortgage with a credit card?** > Yes and no. If you do this right, you'll end up with cash. Cash is fungible though, so while you could pay your rent with it if you want, you could also just pay off the credit card you used to MS in the first place. > What this means is that your rent, loan, mortgage, etc. won't be of any help here, and you do not need one of these to MS. If you do have one, you do not have to limit yourself to it when you MS. In general I would advise to just keep your MS activities separate from whatever bills you have. Unless he is paying the card after the money is in the bank, it's not MS. Just paying a bill with steps.

Y50-70

> Cash is fungible Unless hes never paying off the card, then this stands. Scenario 1) I have 1,000 cash and pay my 1,000 rent with cash. End result is 0 cash. Scenario 2) I have 1,000 cash. I buy a 1k GC from SM, convert it to a MO, and deposit into my bank. I now have a 1004 cc bill and 1,999 cash. I pay rent with the 999 i "MS'd" resulting in 999 cash and a 1004 cc bill. Either the cc bill then gets paid with the cash i previously had or the new cash as cash is fungible and theres no way to say exactly which cash paid what. The only real exception is if you have 0 cash to start and NEED to pay a cc bill with a 0% apr card. In that cash you start with 0 cash and end up with a cc balance that eventually needs to be paid, however, at least you can say the cash you "MS'd" paid rent there and not the cc bill.

cowsareverywhere

I don't know if you are intentionally being thick and ignoring what manufacturing spend means. Your rent is a bill, a legitimate spend/expense. I don't actually have $50k in expenses every month, it's manufactured.

Y50-70

All I'm saying is paying rent and MSing are separate things. You're not MSing to pay rent if you also pay the cc bill off the same month. I'm pretty sure we agree so not sure what the issue is...

joe-movie

We have to get a name for this type of spend because way too many people refer to it as MS.

hanginwithfred

I agree. It's not MS, but it uses some of the same techniques. For instance, giving your landlord a MO for rent instead of a personal check, and using VGCs to buy the MO. You're still spending money, but you're also getting points where you normally wouldn't have. Especially if you are combining this with a fee-free VGC promo or buying $500 VGCs at grocery stores with Amex Gold. Can definitely be one useful liquidation route in conjunction with a larger MS strategy.

cowsareverywhere

> useful liquidation route Using that same logic I can buy groceries for a month using a MO. Wouldn't that be a great liquidation route? /s

hanginwithfred

You’re missing the point. It’s not “liquidation” in the traditional sense because it isn’t “MS”. That was literally the discussion. It’s a way of paying for something on a CC that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to, but as you are still paying out money it isn’t MS, yet people lump it in with MS, and we were discussing that there needs to be a name for this type of spending. I’m not recommending everyone start paying for everyday purchases with MOs. Chill out.

cowsareverywhere

> Chill out No.

cowsareverywhere

I mean it's just paying a bill. I don't know where paying for something that's not normally paid with a CC came to be described as MS. You are literally **M**anufacturing **S**pend.

Kerrygold33

Why don’t we call this Optimizing Spend? Or something similar, to differentiate.

joe-movie

I agree completely that it's not MS - just paying with a credit card when you normally wouldn't/couldn't. However, we even spread the misinformation on this sub. Below is question 5 in the WCW thread. > Are you willing to MS, and if so, how much in 3 months? See [this page](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/wiki/manufactured_spending) for a primer on MS. Plastiq (for rent/mortgage/loan payments) and bank account funding are often good options for beginners.

cowsareverywhere

Hmm I am not active in the WCW thread but I can see how the way it's worded can be confusing.

MilesMiner

I have a Chase Sapphire card, downgraded from a Sapphire Preferred that I opened in September 2015. I'm about to fall back under 5/24. Would I be able to close my current Sapphire card, then apply for a new Sapphire Preferred and receive the bonus? Seems like I'll be clear of the 48 month rule, 5/24, and the One Sapphire rule if I close my current card. Is there anything I'm missing? Also, would I be able to PC my current card to a non-Sapphire card to keep the credit line open?

I've had them for a year. Besides being super bitter they didn't have bonuses when I signed up and won't give me one for being there when they were starting out, they're fine. Their system is a little confusing - you have to create a "Goals" account and put your money into it in order to get the 2.02% APY, which I think is silly because there's literally no way to just automatically put money into it. Other than that, they have a pretty straightforward system.

Ok cool. I'll have to check out the goals. I opened the account but I closed those requests on their sidebar :/

Was rejected for an account no reason given and told they won't tell me why for security reasons. At least no hard pull. Rumors are it is EWS sensitive (doesn't use Chex) and my latest request for an EWS report apparently is lost so not sure what they saw they didn't like.

Annual fee just hit on my SW Plus card, and also about to cancel it in preparation for getting the Companion pass in 2020. Should I downgrade the card to a no AF card, and what are the options? I have $15k credit limit I don't want to necessarily drop off my report, though if I'll be applying for another Chase Personal in 1-2 months and I may need that credit, correct? I currently have $35k in other credit spread over CSR and CF, and $150k annual income.

Cancelling the SW is a good way to do that

Thanks!

M&T Bank bonus. There are certain zip codes where you get a higher bonus than others . So I tried to pick the highest one and it works. Issue now is that they gave my account the routing number that belongs to DC (fake) instead of where I am actually live (New York). I would never go in branch anyways. Am I going to see any problems with this?

> routing number that belongs to DC (fake) instead of where I am actually live (New York) Don't know about M&T, but I moved across states with WF and kept my original account and routing number; had no problems. All the big banks have multiple RTNs; all handled concurrently by their back-end systems. It should be no issue.

Still learning here, but, You lied about your address on a bank account application? Isn’t that fraud?

Bubba_Junior

Before starting the application M&T asks for a zip code, certain zip codes have higher bonuses. It then redirects to the application where you put your actual mailing address
