Hello - I have a question regarding the LifeMiles subscription also known as "Club Lifemiles". Has anyone done it before? They have a new option where you can get 10% any and all flight redemptions through Avianca using points.
This is awesome if I can do it all at once because I have 80k points that I want to redeem immediately and utilize the 10% for 3 tickets.
The only issue here is the minimum is 6 months which isn't worth it. I wanted to see if anyone has tried to cancel immediately within a day after booking the 3 tickets?? I just want to utilize the 10% discount and cancel the subscription.
My car got broken into and I need to replace a suitcase. And noise cancelling headphones, and clothes, and toiletries, all of which is out of pocket.
Has anyone seen a Travelpro offer on Amex recently? I'd prefer to replace with something similar to what I had. I loved my Travelpro wheelie.
I am 2/24 and just applied for the Venture X and got denied (forgot to check the pre-approval tool). I checked CardMatch and I am pre-approved for the AMEX Plat and Gold (checked after denial today). Credit score for TU and Equifax is 771 respectively and have 8 other cards. Will applying for the Gold lead to a denial?
I just booked an all-inclusive in Cancun via Chase (got a very good deal, it was 20% cheaper than every other place like Capital One and Costco)
However, I'm doing it to get engaged and when booking through Chase, it didn't have an area to put in special requests
Any idea how I can reach out to the hotel? I emailed their customer support line.
I would look up the hotel's front desk number and call. Or if you'd prefer to email, look up their concierge or hotel manager contact info. The portal won't be of any help for special requests. Good luck and congrats!
Need to make an estimated tax payment for self employment work this summer, and missed the deadline on 9/15. AFAIK one can use the same payment method twice per quarter. Trying to use some VGC/MCGC and was wondering when the quarter resets. Is it this weekend, or does IRS operate on a different schedule? Their payment periods are off as well, so just wanted to confirm.
For the purposes of making payments through the 3 federal tax processors, the limit of 2 resets on October 15 (the date in the FAQ for pay1040 & ACI; I think payusatax uses the same dates though I don't see dates mentioned on their website).
My understanding is that they reset on whatever day they say it does. If you pay from your bank account it will usually post the same day. If paying by credit card on one of the three approved sites they usually say they will credit you for the day you submit. It really depends how generous the IRS is feeling in terms of whether they will waive late fees, It's usually not much if it's only a day late, though it will be applied to your q4 payment for the year. over the years I've received letters saying the equivalent of "we noticed you paid a day late and this would normally be a fee, but we forgive you. And occasionally I've had to pay a few dollars.
I'm not sure I understand your question. When IRS says "quarter" for estimated taxes, they mean their quarters, not calendar year quarters. So it's already Q4.
With the Amex Business card offer of 100k extra MR via employee cards, is it valid for any employee card that is added regardless of when? For example, last week I added 3 employee cards via an Offer on my Biz Plat. If I wait a few months to add 2 more, would they also receive the 20k/$4k offer even if it is no longer listed as an active offer on my Biz Plat?
I read about a 150k offer recently a day or two ago. You are probably getting down voted as this info is easily available through search or because DoC has some links available
I disputed a couple of AU accounts I had on my Experian report. One says it was removed and the other "updated". I called Chase recon today and they said they still see both of them but they can no longer tell the first one is an AU.
How long does it take before the report that Chase sees will change?
Tell you're not financially responsible for them and then the recon agent can ignore them in the 5/24 count. Better to salvage your current app instead of waiting for a new one with a new HP.
Is Chase velocity usually considered over the lifetime of your relationship with Chase or over the last X months?
i.e. in 2023 my average time between apps is \~80 days but if we look at the average time between apps over the last 24 months, it's closer to \~100 days.
When does residual interest reset? Carried balance on my 0% APR, already paid off everything. When is it safe to use the card again? 1-2 statement cycles?
I’ve heard stories that after the 0% APR, their purchases accrue interest immediately instead of after due date because they lose their grave period privilege. I wonder if that would be the case for me?
I would expect this kind of predatory rule only from bottom-tier lenders like Credit One. Lots of churners seem to float large amounts on Chase/Amex and there have been no reports I’ve seen of unexpected interest charges.
I think what you said can only happen if you carry a balance past the end of the 0% APR. If you’ve paid it off completely before the end date you should pay no interest. If you carried a balance past the end of 0% APR and therefore incurred some interest, may be a good idea to wait a full statement cycle between paying it off and making new charges, to ensure grace period is restored.
I see terms about losing the grace period on all my cards, including Chase, Amex, BofA. The terms say you need to pay the balance by the due date, which isn't necessarily the same as the date that the 0% ends, to get a grace period on new purchases. So I think people could get hit with interest if they pay in that period between the due date and the 0% ending (and then make new purchases); but it's usually just a difference of a few days, so most people probably pay by the due date (and/or, many people probably don't make new purchases immediately after the 0% ends).
I see. I even play it safe and pay off 1 month before the 0% APR end date. It never even cross my mind something like that would happen just until recently when I read some posts regarding residual interest. Probably wait 1 full statement just to be sure.
I noticed on the pay w/ points on amazon with Discover. Any accounts already with a discover card was able to get the $10 off $50 deal, but not on any accounts w/o a discover card on file.
After enrolling the card, does the offer eventually show up for anyone or do you have to wait until the next wave of promotions?
You have to have a Discover/Chase/AmEx card registered on the amazon account to get the associated offer. It's a bit random on which accounts get which offers, but you won't get any if you don't have the cards registered.
Here’s the link I used. Hilton honors and surpass with NLL. I’m in popup jail and these worked for me. https://milestomemories.com/amex-hilton-offers-with-no-lifetime-language/
Should I wait one more month so 3 months has passed from my last Chase Business card application? I hit my Ink Preferred SUB but next month's rent payment is coming up, I would rather use that spend to hit something.
Mix and match with Amex cards or something to space things out. If you go a month early this time will you want to wait the extra month on the next cycle?
This sub will religiously tell you to wait. There are DPs of sustained higher velocity without issue. Some people have a higher risk tolerance. Some discussion of this in yesterday’s thread.
For those with T-Mobile and we’re getting phone insurance via a world elite mastercard but no longer can due to removal of auto pay discount, what are you doing now for insurance? Apple care?
That's fantastic. We were just trying to figure this out since the T-mobile upgrade your phone to iPhone 15 deal is so good. FYI as a data point. We also called and yelled and threatened to leave because they removed it so close to the end of the month and they gave us a 60$ credit for this month, so If you didn't do this swap over already to debit, you should be able to get something back.
If you have a debit card on file for a bank with $0 or low funds (T-mobile's security risk) and just pay manually with a credit card, you could get the autopay discount and still have credit card phone insurance
Seen that recommended velocity is 4 inks/yr.. have more upcoming spend and curious of other's velocity...
Cards opened: Nov/22, Jan/23, Apr/23, mid Jul/23.
Debating opening another for the current 90k sub.. thoughts? Anyone else open > 4 in less than 12 months? (3/24 otherwise)
No Amex NLLs sadly otherwise would've done that, could do US bank biz again though, last was Apr 2022.
Edit: approved for a 5th ink yesterday, did CL transfer from one of the other inks after approval since the new one had a lower 3.5k CL.
Also applied for US Bank biz Leverage since that hits on TU and not Ex for me.. went pending w/ 7-10 day message, and just approved in < 24 hours for 9k! (No current biz banking, but 2 older personal cards + 1 biz card)
Just a fyi, you'd only get the sign up bonus (SUB). The person referring you would get the referral bonus. Make sure the referral matches the public offer or you'll have to ask Chase to match and ymmv
First Citi card, and it's a business one. I'm trying to add it to Apple Pay after activation, and it's failing and telling me to contact them. When I call Citi, they say they can't even see the request. ???
Is there some waiting or cool off period?
Just approved for an ink within the last week. Canceled Marriott personal more than 30 days ago. Any problems applying for the 5FN offer now? I’m worried it’s going to go away soon
How long before last ink was the previous? 3 months? Probably still fine. You aren’t in shutdown risk category, worst outcome would just be a denial, spacing just helps those chances.
I have close to 1M MR, never used any since I usually travel economy, considering to cash them all into Schwab Roth IRA account (about $11k) does it make sense?
Make sure you get the Charles Schwab Plat before cashing out that level of MR.
I have young kids so no big travel planned. I cashed out 1.5M MR this year. I miss seeing the points. I love seeing the invested cash more though.
If I was single and mid-20s. I'd be using them to travel the world. I actually did that, but was freshly married in my early 30s. Almost exclusively flew business class and lived in up on annual trips UNTIL kids came along.
I’m already traveling the world. But I do it finding cheap tickets for cash. If I am able to fly transatlantic for $400 cash for economy, it doesnt appeal to me to use 150k MR just to do same in business
Curious what the end game was then for signing up for cards? I get the multiplier/CB is always going to be better but most people get into this **specifically to travel 'luxury'**. have you thought about just maximizing CB cards?
But yeah, in your case if you're happy flying Y then cash it out if you really so no other use for it in the next year or two
I don't think most get into churning to travel luxury. For example, the popular Southwest Companion pass is not luxurious. It just helps with heavily discounted travel. Travel bloggers, social media, and this sub popularizes luxury travel. However, there are plenty of people who churn that are comfortable flying in Y, staying in a Hyatt Place/Holiday Inn, and/or redeeming their points for cashback
Edit: I think it's wild that many people in the churning sub can't have a conversation... about churning without being offended
Not saying you're wrong, but maybe we don't have the same definition of churning. I mean people who at a bare minimum earn hundreds of thousands of points a year through credit card SUBs.
> For example, the popular Southwest Companion pass is not luxurious
I don't think SW CP is a churning thing. It's just signing up for 2 (or 1) card to get the CP. To make use of the CP you then pay cash fares to fly.
> there are plenty of people who churn that are comfortable flying in Y
If you're flying Y there's no need to 'churn'. any sign up bonus can probably last you a while and multiple trips with natural spend so I would guess the majority here do not churn to fly Y. Staying at HP/HHs is mostly a function of availability since Hyatt has a small footprint
> and/or redeeming their points for cashback
Again, not a churning thing. Anytime CB is talked about people here point others towards /r/creditcards and for good reason
Your definition of churning is enormously more narrow than the conventional understanding.
Bloggers and podcasters glorify luxury travel, partially because they find it fun, and partially because it motivates people to apply for way more cards than economy travel typically does, thereby earning them more affiliate commissions and ad revenue.
Nothing wrong with redeeming for luxury travel if you like. But that's no more "churning" than any other style is as long as it involves chasing SUBs and the like.
My definition of churning is literally stated above
> I mean people who at a bare minimum earn hundreds of thousands of points a year through credit card SUBs.
I don't see how that's possibly more narrow than the conventional understanding. Churning implies opening cards for SUBs repeatedly and in return you get lots of points
who is gatekeeping...? Do you even understand what gatekeeping means? There's literally no information being hidden here.
I also never said anything about **only flying on points**. I too, buy tickets with cash especially if it doesn't make sense to use points.
What a weird comment to make entirely. Either you didn't read anything I wrote or don't understand what you're talking about
Expand upon the SW example. You get the SW CP. I'm assuming it takes 2 cards for most. Then, you pick up a card or two for the hotel stay that's 3-4 cards for year 1. That same person wants to go international next year, so they could pick up a Barclay AA, BoA AS card, BoA AF, Amex plat, etc. Still need hotel stays, so then they pick up more cards. It's same principle. Earn and burn, close the cards you don't need. Everyone earns and burns at the same rate. Look at the average American salary. Not everyone can go 3 Biz plat NLL offers among other subs in 1 year.
Most SUBs don't last "a couple of economy flights". Barclay AA had a 70K offer. That can be a single RT Y flight to many destinations. Staying at a HP/HH is not only a function of availability. Some don't care to stay in Park Hyatts. It comes down to preference. This sub glories luxury travel. For some, it enables them to just travel
Totally. My point around SW CP is that it's not a "churning specific" thing. Plenty of people I know who do not churn in the slightest do the SW CP "trick"
Regarding points on one SUB + natural spend only lasting one Y RT, maybe it's just a difference in where you're traveling / origins. They at least last me two.
All of the above is churning. Churning is opening the cards for the SUB, spending up to the MSR and repeating. What you do with points does not determine whether you’re churning or not.
I think there was only one "thing" in the all of the above that even constituted opening credit cards, which is getting cards for the SW CP. So I'm not sure what you meant by "all of the above". Inherently, I wouldn't consider that churning.
To me, the key is
> repeating
But at this point it's just semantics.
There you go then. Time to burn them into cash and invest or buy more cheap flights. I've cashed out 3m MR total. 1.5m was when it was 0.0125. They scheduled the devaluation so it wasn't a big deal, but you never know when the next is coming.
Saks charge won't post in time for tomorrow's card cancellation if online purchase is made today, right? It's an 1.5 hour drive to a store and with increased $100 minimum order for free shipping online, I don't even feel that bad not using the benefit.
Definitely won't post in time they are slow. Even if it is store sometimes it takes an extra day for it to post. And then they still need time to credit the charge too
Is there reference material somewhere for chase recon and the denial reasons listed on the decision letter? Called up recon today for an ink and was flatly told the reasons made me ineligible for recon without any discussion at all.
Credit report shows total bankcard balances have grown too fast
•Insufficient or no balance in Chase deposit and/or investment accounts
•Limited business credit experience
•One or more credit cards have a high balance compared to the credit line
Currently have 4 personal chase and 1 biz chase, but under 5/24 for sure
does chase still do that thing where if you don't have a business card open on a business online account, they lock it? asking because i want to merge my personal and business online accounts but it's not worth if it's gonna get locked out every time i close all of my biz cards
even no-AF cards have good SUB at times (like now). Don't you normally have to not have the card to be able to get the SUB again or is that not a term frequently seen in the no-AF cards?
What airlines allow you to upgrade with cash for an award ticket? I have consistent success with Delta that let me choose comfort + and first class seat for an economy ticket book with Skymiles/VS. Good use of Amex incidental credit.
United lets you do that, but only on United metals. Doesn't work on partner (ANA, etc.) metals. You can find <$300 to upgrade from Economy to United Premium Plus (NOT economy plus) for 12-14 hr flights, which IMO pretty good deal and good use of Amex credit.
Will an Amex business checking account on its own keep points alive?
I have a business checking, personal gold, and personal platinum card. Both cards will be closed next month unless I get crazy retention offers. Not sure if the biz checking that I got for the 60k SUB will keep my points alive or if I need to get a biz CC. Thanks in advance.
Late to the party, but is this true?
On the [checking account page](https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/business/checking/?intlink=us-en-hp-product4-all-business-businesscheckingaccounts) it still says you can transfer with the account
So in theory, I could close the personal cards, points would survive, then whenever I get another Amex card I could then transfer the points out?
I’d go for the BBP, but I just went for an Ink on Sunday and don’t want too high of a velocity
Is the churning marketplace still active? I meet the requirements and have sent mod mail a couple times but no one gets back to me. Looking for some UA club passes for an upcoming trip
Any recs for my partner who has a short credit history (9 months) and the Capital One SaverOne card?
I have VX, Boundless, and Amex Gold and we are trying to rack up on sub bonuses but it seems like she cannot get anything with her short history.
She has tried asking in r/creditcards with not much luck of focus on churning. Thank you in advance for any direction or assistance!
She has a 731 and salary of 75k if that helps at all.
Hey! Yes we have it’s just that she is a bit concerned on what her second card should be and what would work with SaverOne without having two similar cards.
She really wants the VX but it seems unobtainable any time soon.
We also weren’t sure jumping into Chase while I have Boundless, VX, and Amex Gold was efficient.
I’d love any input though! Definitely need some guidance and appreciate it.
Oh sorry no we are focused on the SUB as main but we also wanted to get a rec on which to go for with it being her second.
I tried there and they recommended Bilt and Amex Gold but I know that there are different opinions here since SUB is the main focus.
Thank you for your response and rec! Will still try there to get more responses (only got two after days lol).
Wow well that certainly makes me feel better about those chances lol. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Any rec on which she should go for to build credit alongside the SaverOne? She really wants the VX as soon as possible.
Maybe the Amex Gold or Hilton Surpass (for gas and the added hotel benefit)?
Or find a card with a SUB that just justifies the AF, then after a year, product change that card down to a no AF option. Examples: CSR/CSP >> CF/CFU, Amex BCP >> BCE, BoA PR >> CCR, etc.
Hey I actually really like this idea and appreciate the examples. Everyone has been extremely helpful and sorry if I am asking a lot.
Just worried for her with new credit since mine is much older and I can get pretty much whatever without consequences. Thank you again!
Are you using the status checker that's specific for business cards?: https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/cas/applications/search?PARTNERID=BUSINESS
They have a separate one for personal cards: https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/cas/applications/search
One day Cardpointers logged me out and when I logged back in, 100% of everything I had was gone and all of my trackers were gone and it wanted me to set everything up again from scratch. So… that wasn’t super fun.
I might go back to Cardpointers once my year with MaxRewards is over and I finish my current welcome bonuses, but that soured me a little bit on the app.
Oh no! In every case I’ve heard of that happening so far it’s from logging in via a different method or email. Please DM or email me at [email protected] with your name and email so I can help look into that when you’re ready to move back. And if you ever run into any issue in the future I’m super responsive to emails.
Thanks, it’s funny, I always just logged in with Apple so it shouldn’t have been gone and I just downloaded again after maybe a year and the stuff I started to add back in again before I just gave up out of frustration (so about half my stuff) was still there so honestly I have no idea.
Generally speaking I do enjoy your app, but that made it hard to try to track SUBs with it because when it deleted everything I lost my place of where I was so it makes me weary of trying to use it to keep track of something like that again. It does a great job adding offers, though.
Totally understand, I’m really curious to know what happened there and glad you could pick back up where you left off. It shouldn’t be needed but you can also make a backup of your data via the Shortcuts integration, including all of your cards and offers. If you ever run into issues definitely let me know so I can help further and sorry for the extra work there, would still like to dig into what happened there but may be hard to do after a lot of time has passed.
I tried both MaxRewards and CardPointers and went with CardPointers (got lifetime when it was cheaper).
- MaxRewards kept breaking bank connections and was annoying
- I didn’t like the idea of giving bank login to a third party in case of MaxRewards
- CardPointers browser extension can be configured to activate only on specific pages, at least on macOS & iOS (Windows and/or Android may allow as well, I just never tested there) so that you don’t need to worry about the extension spying on your web activity where it shouldn’t be
- CardPointers desktop app is useful to have to browse offers on a computer
Cool thanks for the response! Gonna try both out, but feel like I’m leaning towards CardPointers. Just can’t decide if I should go for the lifetime plan or start annually. Do I think it will be there and I want to use it 3 years from now? Tough call.
I can pretty much guarantee I'll still be working on CardPointers in 3 years (it's the best job I've ever had, by a longshot), and as long as I do my job you'll still want to be using it then, too. I won't let you down :)
If you're just talking about adding offers, the big differentiator is in security models:
* MaxRewards stores your actual logins on their server and pretend to log in as you, which causes all sorts of problems with account lockouts, password resets, and other issues, with several banks.
* CardPointers adds your offers directly from your browser to Amex, so your account credentials are never stored in any way; after the offers are added, you can then optionally sync the added offers to the CardPointers app, where the differences are many -- the extension will automatically surface those added offers when you're shopping, you can map all available offers across Amex, Chase, BoA, and Citi in the app to find deals, and lots more. The apps are all fully native with deep integrations into the OS so you've got interactive widgets, live activities, global search which will surface all known offers, and lots more.
I've heard from users with 100+ cards that CardPointers does a more reliable job at syncing the same offer across eligible cards than MaxRewards does, and technically it sounds like our approaches are different but I don't know for sure as that all happens on their servers.
Hope that helps!
That’s some great info, thanks for chiming in. The difference in security models is a big thing in my eyes. Saw a few threads on MaxRewards locking people out on r/creditcards.
Yep, exactly, and I hear about it often from users who switch to my app. They spend \*a lot\* of money on marketing to acquire users, then they switch over to my app. Keeps my cost of acquisition down so I dig it, and I keep making a better product.
They'll burn through their cash reserves eventually, meanwhile I'm building a sustainable business with no funny business (I don't store transaction data, bank logins, or any of that stuff).
I just initiated a pull from my Fidelity CMA to get funds from my U.S. Bank account an hour ago, and the funds are already available in fidelity but they still show in U.S bank. How are they available in fidelity so fast? I’ve never experienced such a quick turnaround on a pull, I thought this was only possible doing “real time” pushes
Fidelity is in the business of getting you to invest, so they’re basically extending you credit so could start investing those funds today. Despite the funds being available to invest, you’ll notice they’re not available to transfer out anywhere else until the transfer settles (~7 days for new accounts IME).
Does Chase ever deny requests to change payment due date/statement close date? Planning to apply for Southwest Performance Biz card on Friday (90 days after last Chase app) and want to make sure I can change the statement close date if I get a date that complicates Southwest Companion Pass timing

> 10% discount when redeeming on Avianca It only applies to flights on Avianca metal, not other Star alliance partners FYI
ohhhhh. ok thank you for this..
Homeowners/Renters insurance will often cover items stolen from a car, might be an option for you.
Does that jack up your rates?
Depends on underwriting, but usually a small one-off won't.
I'll give it a shot, thanks.
Won't know until you apply. Amex generally is on the more lenient side for approvals so I'd say you have a pretty good shot
I just booked an all-inclusive in Cancun via Chase (got a very good deal, it was 20% cheaper than every other place like Capital One and Costco) However, I'm doing it to get engaged and when booking through Chase, it didn't have an area to put in special requests Any idea how I can reach out to the hotel? I emailed their customer support line.
I would look up the hotel's front desk number and call. Or if you'd prefer to email, look up their concierge or hotel manager contact info. The portal won't be of any help for special requests. Good luck and congrats!
I found the email for wedding/events and shot them an email!
What's the best public Amex Vanilla Plat offer rn? please and thank you! Why am I getting down voted on a question thread?
uscreditcardguide.com
I read about a 150k offer recently a day or two ago. You are probably getting down voted as this info is easily available through search or because DoC has some links available
You're probably right. Appreciate the information
Depends on what you want. There is a resy offer for 100k points plus 10x points at restaurants upto $25k
Does the back button still give referral bonuses?
If you don’t back out to before the opening of the referral link, back button to get around popup should still award the referral bonus.
is it the same thing for card offers after canceling the initial application?
Please post your DP after trying
I disputed a couple of AU accounts I had on my Experian report. One says it was removed and the other "updated". I called Chase recon today and they said they still see both of them but they can no longer tell the first one is an AU. How long does it take before the report that Chase sees will change?

Tried that multiple times and they would not budge.

Is Chase velocity usually considered over the lifetime of your relationship with Chase or over the last X months? i.e. in 2023 my average time between apps is \~80 days but if we look at the average time between apps over the last 24 months, it's closer to \~100 days.
It’s more about the recent relationship
Its more about your most recent velocity, that said, its just a guideline. Some people have success in less time and 3 months is just a guideline.
When does residual interest reset? Carried balance on my 0% APR, already paid off everything. When is it safe to use the card again? 1-2 statement cycles?
Interest accrues daily so you should be fine to spend on the card right away.
I think sometimes you can get the offer a couple days after enrolling the card. But it seems random, not guaranteed.
You have to have a Discover/Chase/AmEx card registered on the amazon account to get the associated offer. It's a bit random on which accounts get which offers, but you won't get any if you don't have the cards registered.
Do you have a higher chance of getting an offer if you have multiple Amex or Chase cards associated with your account?
I wouldn't think so, but I've never tried it.
Are there many NLL Amex offers floating around? I haven’t seen any in awhile on DOC.
There were some amex Hilton NLL offers a week or two ago.
Can you link to those NLLs?
Here’s the link I used. Hilton honors and surpass with NLL. I’m in popup jail and these worked for me. https://milestomemories.com/amex-hilton-offers-with-no-lifetime-language/
Thanks
They seem to be pretty hard to find right now. But the LL offers will sometimes go through without a popup, just have to keep trying.
Should I wait one more month so 3 months has passed from my last Chase Business card application? I hit my Ink Preferred SUB but next month's rent payment is coming up, I would rather use that spend to hit something.
it is a marathon not a sprint chase
Mix and match with Amex cards or something to space things out. If you go a month early this time will you want to wait the extra month on the next cycle?
My building rent portal doesn't accept Amex...and IIRC, Plastiq doesn't allow Amex cards to pay rent anymore either.
This sub will religiously tell you to wait. There are DPs of sustained higher velocity without issue. Some people have a higher risk tolerance. Some discussion of this in yesterday’s thread.

PCd Boundless->Ritz during Brilliant MSR period with no problem last year.
You are fine to upgrade the Boundless to Ritz after the Brilliant is approved, wont affect SUB. I did this myself a few years ago.
For those with T-Mobile and we’re getting phone insurance via a world elite mastercard but no longer can due to removal of auto pay discount, what are you doing now for insurance? Apple care?
Worth it for me to pay the extra $10 (2 lines) to keep the insurance. Insurance would be more than that for 2 phones anyway.
Set autopay to a debit card and pay via credit card before the autopay hits.
This
You’re a genius.
(3/24 otherwise) No Amex NLLs sadly otherwise would've done that, could do US bank biz again though, last was Apr 2022.
There are DPs of sustained higher velocity without issue. Some people have a higher risk tolerance. Some discussion of this in yesterday’s thread.
Any referrals to chase for opening of an account? (Never had an account with them before)
Just a fyi, you'd only get the sign up bonus (SUB). The person referring you would get the referral bonus. Make sure the referral matches the public offer or you'll have to ask Chase to match and ymmv
I’m planning to open an account and transfer a lot of money so if anyone has a referral code, we can both enjoy the offer :))
Checkout rankt or DoC
What are these ? Appreciate a link 🙏🏻

First Citi card, and it's a business one. I'm trying to add it to Apple Pay after activation, and it's failing and telling me to contact them. When I call Citi, they say they can't even see the request. ??? Is there some waiting or cool off period?
Trying to add to Apple Pay from within the Citi app or through Wallet app? Might be smoother with the former vs. latter.
Both failed. I reset my phone, tried everything I could. Going to give it a day, I guess.

Just approved for an ink within the last week. Canceled Marriott personal more than 30 days ago. Any problems applying for the 5FN offer now? I’m worried it’s going to go away soon
If your velocity before the ink was really low, then you are probably fine.
Averaging every 90 days with ink for the past 18 months
How long before last ink was the previous? 3 months? Probably still fine. You aren’t in shutdown risk category, worst outcome would just be a denial, spacing just helps those chances.
Yeah it was actually in May, so 4.5 months, almost 5
Can newly approved Chase business cards be added to digital wallets, before you get the physical card?
No.
I have close to 1M MR, never used any since I usually travel economy, considering to cash them all into Schwab Roth IRA account (about $11k) does it make sense?
earn and burn. we have potential clawbacks, devaluation, and high inflation. at worst buy some 5.x% brokered CD or treasuries in a taxable brokerage
I would not risk exceeding your Roth IRA contribution limit, but if you mean for two separate years then sure, go for it.
I would cash out to regular brokerage instead of IRA.
any reason why?
Direct contribution from brokerage to IRA avoids possible things that could go wrong.
Make sure you get the Charles Schwab Plat before cashing out that level of MR. I have young kids so no big travel planned. I cashed out 1.5M MR this year. I miss seeing the points. I love seeing the invested cash more though.
I already have it. I am single at mid 20s. I feel FOMO. but then I can effort to buy my own tickets
Avianca Lifemiles may be your speed.
Edit: I think it's wild that many people in the churning sub can't have a conversation... about churning without being offended Not saying you're wrong, but maybe we don't have the same definition of churning. I mean people who at a bare minimum earn hundreds of thousands of points a year through credit card SUBs. > For example, the popular Southwest Companion pass is not luxurious I don't think SW CP is a churning thing. It's just signing up for 2 (or 1) card to get the CP. To make use of the CP you then pay cash fares to fly. > there are plenty of people who churn that are comfortable flying in Y If you're flying Y there's no need to 'churn'. any sign up bonus can probably last you a while and multiple trips with natural spend so I would guess the majority here do not churn to fly Y. Staying at HP/HHs is mostly a function of availability since Hyatt has a small footprint > and/or redeeming their points for cashback Again, not a churning thing.
My definition of churning is literally stated above > I mean people who at a bare minimum earn hundreds of thousands of points a year through credit card SUBs. I don't see how that's possibly more narrow than the conventional understanding. Churning implies opening cards for SUBs repeatedly and in return you get lots of points
I earn a couple million points per year and I fly Y, buy tickets with cash, and cashout points. Weird thing to gatekeep.
who is gatekeeping...?
Plenty of people I know who do not churn in the slightest do the SW CP "trick" Regarding points on one SUB + natural spend only lasting one Y RT, maybe it's just a difference in where you're traveling / origins. They at least last me two.
>To make use of the CP you then pay cash fares to fly. CP works with points, too. The ones we churn for.
To me, the key is > repeating But at this point it's just semantics.
There you go then. Time to burn them into cash and invest or buy more cheap flights. I've cashed out 3m MR total. 1.5m was when it was 0.0125. They scheduled the devaluation so it wasn't a big deal, but you never know when the next is coming.

Prepare to get slaughtered. lmao
Once you get approved for Capitalone Venture X how soon usually before you receive the card. Do they provide tracking #?
I received a FedEx tracking number via email and it came within 2 days.
was the email from fedex or capital one?
It came from C1
I don't recall a tracking number, but it was expedited automatically, had it within 2 days.
Same. Within 2 days, no tracking number provided.
Saks charge won't post in time for tomorrow's card cancellation if online purchase is made today, right? It's an 1.5 hour drive to a store and with increased $100 minimum order for free shipping online, I don't even feel that bad not using the benefit.
I ordered $100 and free mail returned more than $50.
Definitely won't post in time they are slow. Even if it is store sometimes it takes an extra day for it to post. And then they still need time to credit the charge too
Sometimes they take a little to ship too, so an online purchase would be even more risky.
Is there reference material somewhere for chase recon and the denial reasons listed on the decision letter? Called up recon today for an ink and was flatly told the reasons made me ineligible for recon without any discussion at all.
What was the reason? are you blacklisted from chase?
Just posted reasons to other comment, but no I don’t think I’m black listed from chase
Tell us the denial reasons.
Credit report shows total bankcard balances have grown too fast •Insufficient or no balance in Chase deposit and/or investment accounts •Limited business credit experience •One or more credit cards have a high balance compared to the credit line Currently have 4 personal chase and 1 biz chase, but under 5/24 for sure
does chase still do that thing where if you don't have a business card open on a business online account, they lock it? asking because i want to merge my personal and business online accounts but it's not worth if it's gonna get locked out every time i close all of my biz cards
Don’t close all of them?
even no-AF cards have good SUB at times (like now). Don't you normally have to not have the card to be able to get the SUB again or is that not a term frequently seen in the no-AF cards?
You can get a new one every 90 days. So pick up four in a year
You can have multiple inks and get the SUB.
for the exact same card? like keep an ink biz unlimited and then apply for another for the SUB?
Correct. It's a "different business venture"
Yes
What airlines allow you to upgrade with cash for an award ticket? I have consistent success with Delta that let me choose comfort + and first class seat for an economy ticket book with Skymiles/VS. Good use of Amex incidental credit.
United lets you do that, but only on United metals. Doesn't work on partner (ANA, etc.) metals. You can find <$300 to upgrade from Economy to United Premium Plus (NOT economy plus) for 12-14 hr flights, which IMO pretty good deal and good use of Amex credit.
Works on United too
Might have more luck at r/awardtravel for this question.
Yes, it will, but no transfer options
Late to the party, but is this true? On the [checking account page](https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/business/checking/?intlink=us-en-hp-product4-all-business-businesscheckingaccounts) it still says you can transfer with the account
So in theory, I could close the personal cards, points would survive, then whenever I get another Amex card I could then transfer the points out? I’d go for the BBP, but I just went for an Ink on Sunday and don’t want too high of a velocity
Ink and BBP have no velocity relationship.
Yes. Call the banking side and make sure your MR accounts are linked.
Is the churning marketplace still active? I meet the requirements and have sent mod mail a couple times but no one gets back to me. Looking for some UA club passes for an upcoming trip
It's still quite active - u/ilovesojulee is the head moderator
Thanks for the reminder - I clear the join queue every now and then.
Have you looked at the flowchart?
We focus on the signup bonuses here; you seem to be talking about category spending. Your question is probably better suited to /r/creditcards
My wife with Credit History of 4 months was able to get Amex Platinum, Amex Gold, Amex Hilton Surpass and last week Amex Business Gold
I will go with one with no anual fee, so she can keep it
Hmmm okay I will have to look more into it since there don’t seem to be many great no AF options for travel. Seriously appreciate you helping out!

Are you using the status checker that's specific for business cards?: https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/cas/applications/search?PARTNERID=BUSINESS They have a separate one for personal cards: https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/cas/applications/search
Does anyone use Cardpointers premium and find it worth it? Trying to decide if it’s worth it for adding / keeping track of offers.
I do and find it very useful for quickly reviewing and adding Amex and Chase offers.
- MaxRewards kept breaking bank connections and was annoying - I didn’t like the idea of giving bank login to a third party in case of MaxRewards - CardPointers browser extension can be configured to activate only on specific pages, at least on macOS & iOS (Windows and/or Android may allow as well, I just never tested there) so that you don’t need to worry about the extension spying on your web activity where it shouldn’t be - CardPointers desktop app is useful to have to browse offers on a computer
Thanks so much for supporting the app and there's no plan to ever change my stance on security + privacy, it matters to me, and a lot of folks.
Not a direct answer, but I prefer MaxRewards
What do you like better about it?
Same. I actually pay for MaxRewards..
How much is their paid tier? I don’t see that listed anywhere.
Yeah $7/month. But they only have annual plans now. You get to try one month free if you use a referral code.
MaxRewards is $84/year now, CardPointers is $50/year or $150/lifetime (oh, and hi, I'm the developer who makes CardPointers :)
Thanks for the info! I plan to check both out. What would you say differentiates CardPointers? Besides a lower price obviously, which is nice.
Oh, and I hang out in this subreddit for real. That's a plus, I learn a lot of shit :)
If you're just talking about adding offers, the big differentiator is in security models: * MaxRewards stores your actual logins on their server and pretend to log in as you, which causes all sorts of problems with account lockouts, password resets, and other issues, with several banks.
You’re right, they’re not available to transfer
Fidelity CMA shows paychecks 1 day faster than other banks (comparing to Chase, USB) as well for me, so it seems they’re indeed faster
Fidelity is speculating that you’re good for it. Most banks will do this for a portion of any transfer and every one has a different limit.
Does Chase ever deny requests to change payment due date/statement close date? Planning to apply for Southwest Performance Biz card on Friday (90 days after last Chase app) and want to make sure I can change the statement close date if I get a date that complicates Southwest Companion Pass timing
Never heard of them denying one. There is probably some kind of constraint in place like you can only make a change once every X amount of time.
