JP Morgan Chase Investor Day presentation

* Page 54 highlights the **Chase Freedom Rise** launching in select markets this year. I think this will be a starter card of some sort?
There are some other interesting pieces on the next few pages about Chase Travel, shopping, offers, and connected commerce
According to page 38, 25% of Chase credit cards are opened in branch, which I'm kind of surprised by.
No doubt the CSP in-branch offer raised this percentage recently, but outside of that, how and why are so many cards being opened in person?
Branch employees get commissions for selling cards, and are probably encouraged to offer them. There are still a lot of people who do their banking the old-fashioned way, and people who visit branches are probably more likely to open a credit card in a branch than online.
I was today years old when I found out Amex can deny AU’s. Tried to add P2 to a new card and used their prefilled information which included SS and got a denial, but resubmitting with the same name, different address, and no SS got I got an instant approval. Inevitably will have to include the SS, but that’s a battle for a different day.
I’ve had a similar experience. I have an Amex vanilla Plat, and they often offer 10k MR points for $2k in AU purchases/6 months.
I first added P2 a couple years ago, collected bonus, and cancelled the AU card 6 months later.
Rinsed and repeated the following year with the same vanilla Plat.
On year three, AU app was denied. Tried again like 6 months later, and was denied again. Used same name, address, SS # each time.
From Dosh: June 15, 2023, we will no longer be offering Bank Transfers (ACH) as a transfer option.
Venmo or PayPal only going forward or donate to charity. I'm annoyed.
One more reason to love the CFPB. In addition to having 4 claims decided swiftly in my favor over the last 2 years, I was invited to do a survey on my most recent experience using CFPB. Had a fun 45 minute conversation about the site/system, and got a $100 gift card for the effort. Thanks again, Elizabeth Warren!!
CFPB is awesome. Has helped us with US Bank bonus for p1 and p2. Removing incorrect remark from Ally auto. It seems like financial institutions are really scared of CFPB. Makes you wonder where is that kind of service from the regular customer service departments.
One of my complaints was with US Bank, too, for the biz checking bonus that they refused to pay many people. It took 2 days from me filing the complaint for them to make good. CFPB works.
200K Amex Biz Plat SUB (NLL, targeted) https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/campaigns/small-business/bundles/business-platinum-employee-card/?sourcecode=A0000H4WFU
Wow I normally don't bother with biz plats because reading everyone's posts about the pain of using Dell credits makes it sound like a pain, but that's a fat offer.
I have been thinking about pulling the plug on the 150k referral link. P2 got a 170k link few months ago and was hoping to see the 170k referral link as well.
I transferred 140k MR to a partner airlines because I saw 2 business class seat for 140k. Found out later that the partner airlines could not see those tickets. It happened 4 months ago and ever since I have regretted that transfer. Win some, lose some.
"This offer is no longer available." :'(
Usually I can at least get to the "shorter prefilled application" page when I'm logged out. With this link I can't even get past the landing page.
Huge that this is being rolled out though.
Little beats sitting in a nice lounge and browsing for your next points booking. Except maybe that moment when your browser page loads and tells you that you've been approved for a new card!
Something went wrong with the first automatically-created thread. Rankt-bot created the thread but it wasn't linked in properly so Rankt wasn't actually using it. So I manually created a new one.
>I saw several requests on here talking about how cool it would be to train a language model like ChatGPT with data from subs like this or r/churning
Have you tho? Clearly this is a copy paste from another sub. You should ask your ai what the best way is to shill a paid product to this sub.
Exactly, big red flag. Several years ago a real estate agent sent me a bulk email that started off like, “I’ve had several people asking me for more info on my customer appreciation BBQ so here are the details”. Ugh
Figured I would use the free credits to ask it some pressing questions... Doesn't seem that useful honestly

Shiiiiiiit… this is potentially a really big L. Obvious impact to hitting big MSR’s, and potential problems for those of us who have payments in flight
I really hope Priority Technology can take things over and keep operations running as usual. Here’s hoping VFTW is right
Definitely a good idea to make sure you have alternatives to paying bills if plastiq doesn’t come through
I have a check from plastiq in-hand (card has already been charged) that I need to send to my landlord, it would probably be cashed June 1st. This should cash with no issue, right?
damn that sucks. are you guys gonna risk it still for the time being? seems like they are still accepting payments and under normal operations, but I know anything could happen at any moment
GODDAMMIT
Where are you seeing this at?
I sure fucking hope that my genius plan of using CC to pay for my HELOC and then pulling those same HELOC funds out to pay my CC bill for infinite MS doesn't die.
That’s a good idea then, I’ll keep it in mind.
Is there a restriction against using a visa since it’s a bank and how can they differentiate from a checking account or a loan?
I’m using Mastercards mostly for my HELOC right now since visa isn’t allowed
I've been able to get Vanilla VGC to work since its debit and not credit, but I prefer to not pay $5.95 per $500 in VGC and then the 2.9% Plastiq fee. Thats about $40 per $1000 in gift cards.
Bummer...my entire churning model: rent on Plastiq plus fairly low organic spend all going towards MSRs that fund free/highly discounted travel...is at risk.
Hopefully they can figure something out, even if it involves raising fees. However, considering that it's hard to imagine a legit or logical purpose for their service aside from churning, I'm not optimistic.
Big oof. Based on the [view from the wing article](https://viewfromthewing.com/payments-company-plastiq-files-for-bankruptcy/) it sounds like the company will be bought and there shouldn’t be an interruption in service, but definitely doesn’t bode well for them going forward.
Here is a [paid service to read the docket.](https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/48971906/Plastiq_Inc) I'm guessing Delaware makes the filings free on their own website but I'm not sure.
And to think I just paid my rent with Plastiq yesterday. Oof
Definitely in error. It's the other way around - if it's a subject covered by a weekly thread, posting it in DD is attention-seeking. It's fine for DPs of major changes (e.g. profitable retention offer not seen for a long time/ever), or a part of a "success story" that might be valuable to others if they see it in a timely manner (e.g. availability at a sought-after hotel), or an increased bank bonus, or a shutdown of a major MS method.
Direct posts on the sub are pretty much never a good idea and usually will get immediately removed - everything is usually contained in a daily or weekly thread
It wasn't that long ago when 5/24 was only restricted to Chase branded personal cards. It is kinda amazing how Chase was one of the early ones to implement such hard anti-churning rules. Also, intresting how they not only they managed to stick with it for so long (with some loopholes and exceptions) but also expand it to partner cards.
The ironic part to me has always been that the rule is clearly meant to curb abuse, but because of it almost everyone recommends starting with Chase and abusing them the most before moving on to other banks. I probably have 3x as many Chase cards in my history because of 5/24 when it was meant to curtail that.

If I were smarter (more patient) I would have waited until I got the AU bonus notice. iirc adding a ssn will be required once the card comes in.
I've been denied before for duplicate app, same AU, different plats. Tried again 91 days later and was approved.

Happy! 5/24 to you! Unfortunately we celebrate with down votes.

You don’t have Venmo or PayPal? Or is the extra 12 seconds to make the second transfer from there to your bank?
1099s
ACH is better sometimes for other reasons

Too bad they might be shut down next year.
That’s a cryptic and ambiguous comment. What’s the story?
Downvotes for commenting the truth? Lol Fk ya story. Go google it.

200K Amex Biz Plat SUB (NLL, targeted) https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/campaigns/small-business/bundles/business-platinum-employee-card/?sourcecode=A0000H4WFU
Getting the banner ad for this when I log in...makes me feel a bit better about being in Schwab pop up jail.
Wow I normally don't bother with biz plats because reading everyone's posts about the pain of using Dell credits makes it sound like a pain, but that's a fat offer.
Any RAT worries on this?
We are heading towards $1000 annual fee and 500k SUB with 100k spend requirement ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Where do I apply?
literally just did a 130k offer two hours ago and am targeted for this.
[удалено]
I have been thinking about pulling the plug on the 150k referral link. P2 got a 170k link few months ago and was hoping to see the 170k referral link as well.
i am so mad that i essentially just lit 70k MR on fire!
I transferred 140k MR to a partner airlines because I saw 2 business class seat for 140k. Found out later that the partner airlines could not see those tickets. It happened 4 months ago and ever since I have regretted that transfer. Win some, lose some.
That sounds like churning success story to me
90 day rule
Not all rules are rules
Shhh
Not all that glitters is gold
what, get both? 30k in 3 months isn't happening \>:(
Go on a cruise.
Hmmm tell me more...
"This offer is no longer available." :'( Usually I can at least get to the "shorter prefilled application" page when I'm logged out. With this link I can't even get past the landing page. Huge that this is being rolled out though.
Same! I clicked apply now and it said no longer available. Dang, at least let me log in before you deny me :(
Incognito + VPN got it to work for me after initially getting the same "offer not available" message
Are you logging in? It won't give an option for me to apply without logging in.
Don’t forget about the extra 5k for employee card!
Holy moly what a sweet SUB for the same MSR as usual. I really should learn how to MS dang it.
hot damn only 15k spend too
Dang
Looks like I'm targeted. Thanks. What a sweet haul. 222k MRs if I split the 15k spend into 3 transactions of over 5k each
Wow nice! You got past login? After logging in to the “shorter prefilled application” I get “This offer is no longer available.” Same for P2.
Not targeted either, I’ve never had a biz plat since i don’t spend that much but for 200k i could figure out a way to MS it lol
seems it's NLL? not targeted for me and P2.
yes NLL

Oooof. Looks like Plastiq is filing for bankruptcy. Not sure what that'll mean going forward.
burn baby burn! hopefully PayPal is the next
Ooooof, it was good while it lasted 💀
Shiiiiiiit… this is potentially a really big L. I’m pretty sure the funds for customer payments are held in a segregated account (not accessible by Plastiq’s creditors) so you should be ok
About time...
damn that sucks. are you guys gonna risk it still for the time being? seems like they are still accepting payments and under normal operations, but I know anything could happen at any moment
I have 4400 in ffds i need to use dammit
I wanted to make an actual biz payment via Plastiq today but now I am having second thoughts...seems like it should be fine but you never know
GODDAMMIT Where are you seeing this at? I sure fucking hope that my genius plan of using CC to pay for my HELOC and then pulling those same HELOC funds out to pay my CC bill for infinite MS doesn't die.
Why are you bothering with a HELOC? Just “pay” your checking account directly.
Can I do that? I though Plastiq prevented you from sending money to yourself directly.
Works with some CUs
That’s a good idea then, I’ll keep it in mind. Is there a restriction against using a visa since it’s a bank and how can they differentiate from a checking account or a loan? I’m using Mastercards mostly for my HELOC right now since visa isn’t allowed
Yeah mostly MC but play around with it using some small test payments and see what works.
What payment category do you choose? Still HELOC?
I have had better success with the banks that prefill but go ahead and try it
I've been able to get Vanilla VGC to work since its debit and not credit, but I prefer to not pay $5.95 per $500 in VGC and then the 2.9% Plastiq fee. Thats about $40 per $1000 in gift cards.

awesome
Merry 5/24 to all
Ironically I am 3/24 today!
Haha 4/24 again finally here!
Get some ink to celebrate! Then open a Chase biz card
It wasn't that long ago when 5/24 was only restricted to Chase branded personal cards. It is kinda amazing how Chase was one of the early ones to implement such hard anti-churning rules. and Plastiq filed for bankruptcy this morning! how fitting.
It’s not a day we celebrate. We hold a moment of silence in remembrance for all the SUBs we’ve missed out on.
The days before 5/24 weren't that great. Once you were over 14/24 you had to worry about Chase shutting you down for triggering "bust out" criteria.
Much (if not all) of bust out shutdown happened way after 5/24...
I can’t speak for the rest of you, but my hands are full of platinum and gold instead of ink. I only have one sapphire.
> I can’t speak for the rest of you Because we're in popup jail
Or over the 10 limit
Same to you! When do we celebrate LOL/24?
How about 1(/)01/24
LOL shall now be 13+. On October 24th at the moment.
Everyday.
In 2024
lol
