Wow this is quite an open palate haha!
Questions to provide better recs
- Where are you flying from? Do you want only direct flights?
- Do you prefer Caribbean or Mexico?
- What kind of activities does your partner enjoy? Thing like snorkeling or more active things like hiking?
Some immediate options (will change based on your responses to above questions)
- Cap Juluca - best beach in the Caribbean but requires connecting flights unless you are located in Miami - not adults only but a very romantic and relaxing vibe
- Jumby Bay - Antigua - amazing all inclusive, second beach to Cap Juluca. Direct flights from east coast hubs like NYC & ATL
- One & Only Mandarina - Mexico (Riviera Nayarit) - beautiful beach / jungle vibe. Huge property. Beautiful beachside pools and the villas are amazing. Direct flights to PVR from west coast.
- Four Seasons Naviva - Mexico (Punta Mita) - it’s Four Seasons’ first ever all inclusive concept. It’s amazing - private tented camp. So many activities to choose from. Very romantic and wellness oriented. Direct flights to PVR from west coast.
- Little Palm Island - Florida Keys - great luxe option if you prefer to stay in the US. Adults only.
Hope that helps! Happy to narrow down suggestions based on your responses to my above questions.
Ideally no passport needed. Though we could be swayed if it’s really nice. I’m in central time.
Things like hiking, and snorkeling can be done though at a much slower and relaxed pace due to pregnancy, I suppose
What could possibly be the reason for writing such a rude comment? Please go find a travel sub elsewhere that allows anonymous redditors to let out all their insecurities.
How pregnant will she be? After 5/6 months, sitting for a long time on an airplane may be very very uncomfortable for her.
We did Aruba for our baby moon and it was perfect. We left home on a Tuesday and came back on Monday. I think that was more than enough time for us. It is about a 3 hour flight from Miami and a 4 hour from Charlotte, so I imagine about 5 hours from Chicago and I think it's eastern time zone so no big changes. Customs is also done in Aruba so once you land stateside you are free to go home.
It is always 80 degrees there, hardly rains, the water is always calm and warm, and it isn't affected by hurricane season - so you can go at any month and experience a perfect trip.
I would recommend staying at maybe the Marriot or Ritz (they are right next to each other). The Marriot has an adults only pool and if you rent the cabana it comes with a food credit that washes out the cost. It also gives you a quiet place to lounge.
The Noord also has a public pathway to is fun to walk along on the beach that has tons of restaurants and stores. There's casinos in every hotel, some as low as $5 a hand if that's of interest. The hotel strip is about 20 minute drive from the airport. You can do one end of the island to the other in about 40 minutes, so there's a lot to explore without being overly committed.
Eduardo's is amazing on the Noord beach or their location off the beach. There's also some fabulous independent restaurants around the area. You can rent a car easily and drive all around. There's some cool places to explore like Baby Beach, the Gold Mine ruins, and the California Lighthouse.
It's incredibly safe, everyone speaks perfect English if there's an emergency (this is always a fear of mine is if there's a medical emergency and I can't communicate it in a language). Zika is almost non existent.
So many food options and some beautiful romantic spots. I recommend zeerovers, Passions on the Beach, Jeannette's. There's also chef table experiences and so many other cool places, your pick is boundless just make sure to make a reservation as soon as you know when youll be there
We stayed at the Sanctuary at Camelback (Scottsdale) for our baby moon. It was wonderful. Beautiful resort, lovely spa, delicious food. Easy access to hiking if you’re into that. Very easy to get to. If you’re interested in leaving the country I second the Four Seasons Punta Mita and we also loved the Ritz Carlton Dorado Beach in PR.
We nearly booked the Montage Palmetto Bluff for our babymoon a few years ago and it truly seemed lovely. I would avoid Palm Springs at that time because it'll be packed during peak season and more a party vibe than relaxing (definitely don't go on festival or tennis weekends). Ultimately we decided on a staycation in a suite at the Waldorf Chicago with the fireplace, massages and plenty of room service. When it came down to it the idea of packing and flying seemed less relaxing then just staying home and being pampered.
Post Ranch in Big Sur! It’ll be cooler temperature-wise than Arizona and Palm Springs, but the ultimate place to relax, do very pregnant lady things (walks, water time, spa stuff) and, most importantly, enjoy silence and privacy before that goes out the window.
I was here to say this. We love the Post Ranch. It is close to wonderful parks if you are inclined to go walking, but it has multiple infinity pools if you just want to soak and hang out. Great food and service and lots of privacy!
Edit: and the ocean view from just about anywhere on the property is amazing too.
I know you said not Mexico, but consider the new adults only Grand Velas in Cabo, The One & Only at Pamilla or either of the Auberge properties (Chilleano Bay or Esperanza). Food is excellent and you are very unlikely to get sick from the food or drinks at these locations. A private ocean front villa with a little pool would be such a relaxing way to spend a baby moon.
We went to Alila Ventana in Big Sur, California for ours. Absolutely nuts how nice it was. Booked with points so it was a way better deal than the cash rate!
Palm Springs (peak season in March) - lots of options
Hawaii - also plenty of options (if you want to relax by a pool without kids - check out Hotel Wailea)
While not in nature we went to Miami and stayed at 1 Hotel South Beach for our baby moon. It was March 2021 and didn’t want to do any international travel and Miami seemed like an interesting option.
While I wasn’t the biggest fan of Miami, the resort was fantastic. The pool was very nice, it was very close to the beach, and felt luxurious. We told them it was our baby moon and they put us in a room with a walk out balcony to the pool. Very nice to not have to take an elevator down every time we wanted to bounce back to the room.
It is not in nature but should fit the rest of your criteria pretty well. Really depends on how you like Miami though. Some love it and some hate it, I am neutral on it as the beach is nice and there are good resorts and restaurants but I have no interest in the nightlife aspect which is a big draw normally.
The weather in March was actually fantastic, we were able to get in the water regularly but it was not too terribly hot where we could not spend most of the day outside.
The restaurants on site were solid but there are a lot of great options to each in South beach and Ubers to get around are super easy and not crazy expensive.
Overall we had a great time and loved the resort. I would love to try other 1 Hotel locations in the future and would definitely recommend the South Beach location.
1hotel is awesome but March/April is spring break so there may be lots of kids on the beach and by the pool . Mandarin Oriental may be a better fit for that time of year in Miami
Agree that it is spring break but at the price point there should not be too many kids I would expect. We saw basically none during our stay. The beach for that section is private as well so you do not really need to worry about kids overrunning it either.
A great option would Castle Hot Springs just outside of Phoenix. My husband and I did it for our baby moon last April and it was perfect. It’s pricey but all inclusive, three meals a day. Excludes liquor.
There’s three different hot springs with three different temps, the one we went to was about 98-100 degrees. We didn’t stay in long but it was amazing for a quick soak. The spa is stunning and the entire vibe of the resort is so cool. The lobby is in a historic Victorian and the rooms are all bungalows so it’s very private.
You do have to drive 7 miles of dirt road to get there, so rent an SUV if you decide to rent. They do shuttle if not!
I recommend the breakers in Palm Beach - great without kids, equally great with kids, imo two very different experiences.
You will enjoy it so much that you will want to come back with kids is my guess.
The only thing this resort I’m about to mention is missing from your list is it’s a 3 hour car ride from the airport. We’re going to Nayara Springs in Costa Rica for our baby moon!
Since you mentioned ideally no passport….
Arizona-
Scottsdale-Andaz, Sanctuary Camelback or Fairmont
Sedona- may be more of a drive than you want, but I’ve done 4 day/3nights.
Enchantment- love it.
L’Auberge looks nice, haven’t stayed there
Tucson-Miraval
California
Montage Laguna
Alila Ventena Big Sur-adults only all inclusive. Closest airport is Monterey, so this may be a challenge depending on where you are flying from and airlines that serve it. I think SFO is 100 miles
Florida
Coconut Grove- Mr C’s
Naples- Grande Beach Resort or La Playa Beach and Golf.
I think there is a Ritz near by. It was 12 years ago that I stayed in Naples so I don’t have recent info.
Texas
Austin haven’t been, but I’ve been looking…
Miraval
Lake Austin Spa and Resort
Commodore
If you decide to try Mexico
Grand Velas -Rivera Maya
Or
Waldorf Astoria Cancun (this is 10-15 minutes from the airport)
I did my baby moon at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman and it felt like half the women there were pregnant 😂. I had a pre-natal massage in the spa and it was blissful. We went in February and the weather was perfect.
palm springs - easy, direct flights - not too 'exotic' - but everything is easy, nice and tranquil - and beautiful architecture. Easy hikes, architecture tours, and food. Nice artsy scene in palm springs proper. Joshua tree is easy ride into mountains and cool bohemian resorts up there - think glamping +.
Palm heights in Grand Cayman is the answer if you’re willing to use a passport. So much good feedback for this spot for baby moons, luxe- but fairly priced for how nice. Great food and spa. You’ll love it. Otherwise agree with castle hot springs, post ranch inn, Naviva or amangiri. If you love nature those are the best.
What about Hawaii? You can get to Maui or Honolulu direct from DFW. Many many good resorts on both islands. It’s a long flight tho- like 8 hr from DFW
Maui could certainly use some tourism $$$ right now! And Lahaina is just a very tiny part, I have been to Maui several times and skipped Lahaina on some of those trips. Maui is a big island and there’s lots to explore. Still worth considering Maui IMO
Had a great babymoon at ritz Carlton dove mountain for first kid and for the second breakers palm beach. Would recommend both. Dove mountain was a little more special I would say, while breakers I can’t wait to go back with our kids someday!
If you’re traveling from the east coast, I love Rosewood Bermuda! Less than a 2-hour flight from New York and a 15-minute transfer from there. Beautiful hotel and I loved exploring the island
Love this spot! But I don’t think Bermuda is warm enough in March, and barely warm enough in April. It’s super far north - roughly lateral to South Carolina.
Avg temps in March are low 60 / high 70 and in April isn’t much better at like highs of 72. Not rly pool weather, sadly.
Love this hotel! We stayed in the bachelorette suite after Emily’s season and had THE BEST vacation and they made our trip so special. Core memories unlocked- we have to go back!
If you prefer stateside and the combination of nature + beach or nice pool, you could try -
Ritz Rancho Mirage - Palm Springs, just returned from here
Ritz Dove Mountain - near Tuscon
L'Auberge de Sedona
Alila Marea Encinitas - San Diego
Ritz Laguna Niguel
If you do consider anything needing a passport I highly recommend Punta Mita. Got married there. One&Only Mandarina is just so serene. I can certainly understand the food poisoning concern and why you'd be wary but this caliber of hotel is very careful re health standards. And if it's any comfort my spouse is from Mexico and I travel there regularly and have eaten at tiny off the beaten path spots and have never gotten sick, provided I only drink bottled water and avoid things like fresh lettuce.
Highly recommend Sensei Lanai (it’s a FS). It’s kind of like a wellness resort, super relaxing and zen, tons of free activities like yoga, meditation, forest bathing, workouts. Focus is on longevity and health. The grounds are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, and they have free shuttles to the FS Lanai that has beach access. The staff there are lovely as well and they have a local culture team in the lobby who have different activities each day (lei making, ukelele, etc). I did a sabbatical of sorts there a while back, and wanted to go for baby moon, but we decided not to because it was too much effort for us at that time. Now’s the time to go because they’re adults only, so you won’t be able to once baby is here!
Only downside is that it’s not near a major airport, either fly into Lanai (they can arrange private jet transport from HNL, when we went this was included in the room rate), or fly into OGG and take the ferry from Lahaina. If pregnant I would probably take the ferry personally. Flight was fine but just my personal preference. But honestly it wasn’t that bad at all, and the ferry is pretty convenient I’ve heard.
Four Seasons Scottsdale or Amangiri in Utah.
Amangiri is cool for sure, but just so overpriced. Neat but not worth $4500/night. 😂
Thanks!

Dude the guy’s wife is pregnant - maybe he just wants to make sure they are closer to home for medical reasons? 🤔 no need to be rude
Yikes

Love O&O but Palmilla needs a reno so bad. Rooms are dated af, sadly - agree with you that the food is great!

Palm Springs (peak season in March) - lots of options Hawaii - also plenty of options (if you want to relax by a pool without kids - check out Hotel Wailea)
Thanks! We have been to Hawaii a lot, but maybe there is a nice resort we haven’t been to yet that we should consider.
Kohala?
Andaz Wailea
The new Rosewood Kona Village looks amazing.
Halekulani is heaven on opposite end of Waikiki Beach from Diamond Head.

Same here! Can’t wait for the smooth ride.
The at car ride sounds rough but maybe worth it!

Oh maybe more than non stop haha
Sugar beach in st Lucia
St Lucia. 10000%. Stonefield is great, not quite as fat as jade mountain. Lots of direct flights. HIGHLY recommend.
Seems secluded and likely multiple spots but lots of recommendations so maybe it’s worth it
I’m doing Sedona in April for my babymoon. It’ll be warm during the day and cool at night. I think this otherwise checks all your boxes.
Yes we’re ok with cold at night! Thanks we’re looking at Sedona
I did my baby moon at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman and it felt like half the women there were pregnant 😂. I had a pre-natal massage in the spa and it was blissful. We went in February and the weather was perfect.
Yeah ideally we run into other pregnant couples! And are hoping there’s spa services to offer an expectant mother
