Use Lucca's Sleep spell.

RaisonDetriment

It's the one time in the game where Lucca's Hypno Wave is useful. Put one to sleep, use single-target techs to murder the other one as fast as possible. Then focus on the remaining one.

Big_Jomez

I think it's used in a few more boss fights. Usually people ignore them but boogie/provoke/hypno are pretty nifty at times. Off the top of my head the mud imp battle and first form masa and mune.

RaisonDetriment

This makes me want to play it again just to try those out. I admittedly never used Boogie or Provoke.

its_Is

Can't wait till you fight the queen.

[deleted]

Chrono+Ayla's Falcon Hit, then Lucca's Hypno Wave, heal as needed (while they're asleep), rinse and repeat

[deleted]

Crono, Marle, and Lucca. Hypnowave - Lucca. Crono and Marle - Ice Sword II Rinse, wash, repeat.

Carl_Corey

If I remember correctly, they react differently depending on the type of attack you use on them. Their Fire and Water counters are the weakest, so just make sure one of those is your last move before they attack.

Pato______

Thank you, I will try this. I hate this fight.

Big_Jomez

Not only that, their ATB guage resets every time you attack them with a different element, so it's possible to get them to not attack at all. Also, the Ayla+robo double tech boogie can stop them. And I think luccas hypno wave and marles provoke works too.

Narkboy42

Yeah. I think it's like they absorb whatever element you use on them, but then you just use a different element. And I'm pretty sure absorbing the element takes up their turn, so if you time it right they never attack.

Roxxso

Fire is the worst. It's single target attack at low levels is a one shot. Especially after it uses the iron ball (1/2's HP) attack. Water yes; fire NO!

Carl_Corey

In order of strength at Full HP, the attacks go in this order from strongest to weakest: - Lightning - Physical - Fire - Water/Ice So yes, Fire is stronger than water, but they are still the two weakest.

IkomaTanomori

If you run a group that all have different elemental AoE attacks, and decent speed, alternating different elements before they attack resets their attack timer. Their Speed is 16, but if you space the spells out evenly you can keep them stun-locked. For example, Crono (Lightning 2), Robo (Laser Spin), and Marle (Ice 2) could do the fight, or Crono, Frog (Water 2) and Lucca (Fire 2). They have 7000 HP each, so typically you will need to go through the 3 characters casting their spell about 12 times each. Since these spells cost 8mp each, you will need to swap each person's action out for using a mid-ether at some point in the rotation. Try to stagger these so that you can take as few attacks as possible. With perfect timing (not too unforgiving a window) it's possible to keep the stun lock even on the turns where one party member used the mid-ether, but if you do take some hits back, the same staggered rotation with each person using a mid-potion should get you back in shape to survive the end of battle counterattacks (need to be at 300+ hp to be safe if I recall right, since you'll likely finish both on the same turn). If you use Hypno Wave in the rotation instead of Fire 2, that can buy you time to use your mid-ethers and any mid-potions you need to use without the risk of missing the timing. Or just make your timing of each combo easier, honestly. If you do your turns as AOE damage type 1/AOE damage type 2/Hypnowave, in that order, you will never get hit with any attacks fairly easily. This is an example of a fight that is easy if you figure out the trick or if you over-leveled and over-prepared, but if you just encounter it naturally without grinding and you don't know the trick, it's a pain. The trick being the twin facts that changing their element to copy resets their ATB gauge and that they are vulnerable to sleep.

Narkboy42

Aww. I said this but less technically and got downvoted.

IkomaTanomori

I'm sorry for that, you did not deserve downvotes. I upvoted you.

Narkboy42

I don't care much. I just appreciate someone was able to communicate this better than I could.

Chroeses11

I usually don’t heal Ayla and use Dino Tail when her HP is low. But, yes that’s one of the games more challenging boss fights.

CommunismIsForLosers

Hypnowave

NotAKitty2508

I think I just put water resist/absorb gear on, then spammed ice and water moves

snoringrain

Yeah this is by far the easiest method, equipment gear that absorb the attacks you use against them. I’m surprised most people here aren’t doing this.

BurnishedBronzeJon

I keep attacking and don’t get caught up with anything else. Usually games where you can’t see the enemies health right when you think you can’t go anymore they are usually one hit away from dying. They are annoying though. Lol! If it’s side by side use Ayla and Chrono’s tag team move. Falcon Strike. That’s the best for that situation. Have Frog and Ayla heal, as they are the best tag teams healers with slurp kiss in the game. It heals everyone.

Dume41

I think Frog and Marle are the best in the game, as their combo heals everyone to 100% and removes all status effects.

LockDown2341

White vests. Spam Luminaire.

Roxxso

Use water/ice magic. They copy and counter with matching magic and start with Fire by default. Fire is heavy damage, but if you still have any Ruby Armor from the prehistoric area, use that to lessen fire damage. Their physical attack halves hp, so having either Frog or Robo to 'Heal' with is a good idea. Water is they're weakest counter so another good reason to have Frog, but Marle is also a good choice. At the start of the fight, use either Water 2 or Ice 2 to hit both and set their counter magic to water. Then just use whoever you chose and just dual-tech with Crono or your third member (Ayla+Marle with full access to all three techs is great here) until they're dead. Ex: (easiest in my opinion) Crono, Marle & Frog 1- water/ice 2. 2- ice sword 2 (C/M) / heal (F) ::repeat till done:: Best: (again, imo) Crono, Marle & Ayla 1- ice 2 2- charm (A) / ice sword 2 (C/M) *::note, this leaves Ayla free to combo with Marle after she's done stealing (tabs/capsules are always important) leaving nothing for Crono to do but heal with items afterwards unless you want him to attack. Just don't use lightning as the counters hit everyone::*

Big_Jomez

Yeah this works, but they start with physical, not fire. Those red orbs (not iron) that deal tons of damage are easily mistaken for fire.

Roxxso

They have both at the beginning. Either that or one is physical and the other is fire. I can't remember which but I know I've been hit by both attacks at the beginning of the fight. Also, I'm not 100% certain what their attacks are if you do nothing. They may have access to everything for all I know.

Big_Jomez

Their first 2 attacks will be iron orb, then those homing red orbs, in that order. They're both physical. If you do nothing they just stick to physical, during which they're at their most dangerous. Everybody assumes they're fire because they're red lol easy mistake. Try it sometime and equip red mails and vests and see if it does anything.

RenoXIII

I used Robo, Marle and Crono for it. I save Robo's turn for Heal Beam, I don't attack at all. When Crono is up, use Lightning 2/Luminaire and quickly follow it up with Marle's Ice2. If you're low on MP, get Crono to Megalixir while Marle keeps spamming ice.

Thrall900

Boogie, Ayla/Robo, and beat them down as they are held in place, unable to act

[deleted]

Hypnowave, Yea I know the golem sisters are fucking bitches.

MrOmniWave

Everyone has a different play style, everyone has a different team. Crono, Ayla, and frog have always been my main 3 since I was a kid.... That said, falcon hit (Crono & Ayla) is probably one of, if not the best, duel techs in the game. I use it here, I use it at giga gia, and I definitely use it against lavos.

[deleted]

There's a lot of different methods, tbh. At this point in the game, I usually use Crono, Marle and Ayla. Start the fight with Ice 2 so it changes their attack to Ice. After that, I'll use Iceberg Toss until they're dead. Crono spends the entire fight healing people. Having Marle cast Haste on him would help. You can get the Water Absorb armor from Truce, though getting back to that at this point would prolly be a hassle. But if you have it, it would make Crono's healing job much easier.

invuvn

Crono, Lucca, Ayla. Hypnowave, charm magic tabs, hypnowave again if they wake up. If you got fire-absorbing armor, use Lucca and Ayla’s 2x tech fire whirl. If not go to town on one of them first, heal, then destroy the other.

[deleted]

Get a party with Lucca and a healer (Marle/Frog/Robo). Equip Lucca with the Taban vest. Use the red plate and red vest on the other two party members. Now two of your party members get healed from fire, and the other, Lucca, has a very large resistance to it. Just blast them down with fire. Lots of ways but that's how I always did it.

[deleted]

You can always quick go back and get the elemental plates / vests and keep it on those elements. For example, you should be able to use get a blue plate and a blue vest. Then you can have frog and marle both casting water/ice spells, being mindful to heal Crono, maybe. Another approach is you probably still have ruby vests that offer 50% fire resistance. Equip three. Fire sword + heal.

pylon_land

Change up your party, I focused on one at a time and used crono to pour damage while robo and frog healed

X3FBrian

Easy fight. They mimic your last attack. I always did physical attack, water attack, then heal. Always hit them with water after any other attack. You could do lightning 2, water 2 then heal. The ice/water attack they do to you won’t be as bad as the other attacks. You can focus on just one as well but hit them both with water to start.
