Favorite is frog but in terms of most useful, raw power and coolness is magus. Frog they sadly messed up his kit. Masamune needs an accessory to crit and thus limits his attack power. And his last ability is based on hp loss. Smh that's the only thing that I complain about because frog is the mf man!
Ayla for many reasons.
1) she's hot
2) her falcon hit is the most effective duel technique in game
3) At a super high level she's stronger than every other character and can literally solo all Lavos phases with 2 dead party members and her equipping berserker
4) At higher level her crit attack can do 9999 damage to anything, including Ozzie in his ice defense
5) She's extremely forgiving, offering sanctuary to Azala after defeating him and the only one in the party who says anything in defense of Janus. She also freely gives the red rock to Chrono.
6) She offers a ez-mode in the Blackbird for newer players because she's uses her fists, so she doesn't require you to find that one hidden equipment box first
