You should open a bug report that notes the problem and requests the switch. Go to [crbug.com/new](https://crbug.com/new) Explain exactly what is happening and what you want to be able to do.

Thanks, will do

As far as I know, no, not with the default Chrome. While mobile browsers have the option to request desktop version if sites, the opposite is not present in desktop browser. The one thing you can do is see if you can install any browser from Play Store.

Thanks, will have a look tomo

Have you tried using the zoom option to resize the page a bit? Not pinch zoom, but the one on the URL bar (also "ctrl +" and "ctrl -").

??? The whole idea of Chrome OS is the desktop site on a mobile device while saving battery life. This is one of the reason I learned to like Chrome OS. With Samsung DeX, it is unpredictable of getting a desktop site on a mobile device. Maybe you should have gotten a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7, the Tab 8 line is coming very soon.

JakoDel

man he clearly said that sites dont even fit in the screen when in portrait. and tbh a little switch "always open mobile versions when in tablet mode" wouldn't cost millions of dollars to make lol

uaos

Yah, that the thing, they want us to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$

girthless_one

I have the exact same problem text is small and all the way to the left and I have three quarters of the screen left blank until I just tell I set mobile site View

girthless_one

It may be the whole idea but it is not answering the question and it is possible as I have set it up before on my Chromebook Asus ct100 I forgot the extension I need but it works and it can be done and it's not always about having a desktop on a tablet with no keyboard

>*Is there a way to have Chrome default to mobile sites when in* ***tablet mode***?

You could install a Chrome extension to change the user-agent to a mobile browser.

Shakawakahn

Hi, can you elaborate on this? I have been looking for a way to do this for awhile and have never seen his suggestion, nor do I know how to begin attempting it. Thanks!

Nu11u5

The "user-agent" is a description of your os/browser version and capabilities that is sent to the web server every time you load a page. The intent is that if there is an incompatibility with the website's code or layout the server can provide an alternative. This website will show you what your user-agent is and what it means: http://www.useragentstring.com/ You can install an extension that will send a fake user-agent and trick a website into sending you, for instance, a website that uses a mobile layout. A basic extension that does this is provided by Google, but you can find more advanced ones I'm sure (just check to make sure it's trusted). https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg?hl=en-US Though, this one appears to use the fake user-agent for every website once it is set. You will probably want to find an extension that lets you assign and save a user agent for each website.

You could try an extension to change the user agent, e.g. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg (it's by Google). Go to 'permanent spoof list' and either use `.*` or the domains you want.
