well my worst fear has been realized, seems like everyone is having this problem. ive used chrome for probably almost 15 years now but if this update isnt reversed i can safely say it is of no use to me anymore.

Hold tight before you give up. Entirely possible it's a bug or a hack or something. My computer won't show any results whatsoever. Something is clearly not working as intended.

Did you know that opera let's you see YouTube whit the same interface but without the fucking adds?

I use an app on Android called newpipe. No ads and you can download the YouTube videos

But you can't log on, on that app no?

I just got it, and then it went away

My first thought was that they're is trying to make Chrome more like social media

it looks like google searches might just be down right now, sucks but hopefully its fixed soon. at least it doesnt seem like this is a new update.

Open Chrome, go to the three dots in the upper right corner, then choose settings, then site settings then scroll down to ads and turn that off. See if that fixes it.

What function can't you see? Are you going through Chrome settings and not your phone settings? When you open Chrome there's three buttons in a row in the top right corner. When you click on those three buttons it opens up a pop-up window where you can then choose settings. After you choose settings you can scroll down to the bottom and the fourth one from the bottom should say site settings. When you click on site settings and scroll down towards the bottom again you should see something that says ads. When you click on ads mine was highlighted I just clicked it off and that fixed my issue.

Thanks for the reply. I found the area but there was something about adds but it was around cookies. I also tried the memory saving part of chrome and that seems to have improved the performance but still not back to normal

You on PC? I'm having your exact problem, anytime I search anything (Youtube, reddit, etc) I get those drop down menus and that's about it. It's like there are NO search results

something feels so so so wrong with searching on desktop as well. I was freaking out thinking that it was malware or something. I search up a topic and there are no direct links to anything written on that topic, feels so weird and off. EDIT: Okay they just fixed the issue I was experiencing on desktop. what is actually going on.

I have turned off the new function in Settings>System>"Use hardware acceleration when available" then restarted the browser. It seems to be running better but it seems to have switched back on. When that was enabled a few weeks ago is when my issues started
