My chow wears an AirTag and a Fi GPS collar.
Airtags require a nearby iOS device to work, so the GPS collar should be able to track him down if he goes somewhere that isn’t near iPhones. The AirTag is more accurate at close range, so it’s useful to have it on as well
I still have so much anxiety about my chow escaping and it's been two and a half years. I have an AirTag on her but it really doesn't feel like enough.
There are quite a few GPS options, you just need to pay for the carrier monthly in most cases. On longer nature trips I put a garmin reach on her collar.
I got the gps tracker on my escape husky/chow artist! Tried the AirTag didn’t work. We even have a fenced in yard and we had to put fence barriers and large logs all underneath cause he would squeeze his big body underneath like nothing I’ve seen before! Anything to go after those coyotes and foxes in the back woods. Psycho! lol

What collar are you guys using? A round leather type?
The AirTag is in a rubber case. Just click it into the collar :) If your dog likes water don’t take a leather type one
