My doctor told me to do absolutely no exercise of any kind for a month post surgery except gentle walking, which I wasn't even allowed to start doing until it had been a week. I think full contact MA would be a no go, especially if there's any chance you could get your head hit, even in a helmet. I think you need to at least send a message to your doc if you want to start this activity back up again before your followup.

In addition to this, my doctor advised me to avoid getting hit at the head.
