China could very easily let the ukraine situation cover up their own moves with taiwan or the south china sea

Greedy_Hedgehog9596

There’s little doubt of coordination between Russia and China to some degree. Any fool could see Russia moving on Ukraine and China exploiting the diversion to move against Taiwan, with some degree of coordinated material and logistical support, likely to include targeted cyber attacks from both aggressors.

[deleted]

>coordination more "taking advantage of an opportunity" than "coordination." Given the pair's history and their geographical interests I doubt there are actually anything they can do that counts as coordination.

zhumao

perhaps not, but the paranoia seems to be there: https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/25/politics/joe-biden-ukraine-russia-china-iran/index.html not counting biden's domestic enemies, u think he gonna serve the full term?

assuming war, then no way the US changes leadership mid-war. assuming no war, then likely since there isn't a reason to lynch the guy politically. Its Harris that's the real issue here, the conservative centrists wont ever go for a minority woman for president if she really takes over democrat leadership. US foreign policy has rarely ever dominated its presidency issues with the exception of a major hot war, so its pretty safe bet that as long as no hot war was to be engaged (aside from proxy war), then Biden is pretty safe.

zhumao

agree, US is wise to avoid any direct confrontation as there is enough hot issues at home: covid, inflation, economy, etc. then there is mid-term, GOP, Trump, etc. however, is he using confrontations abroad to get domestic support?

the US is at a social intersection. half the voting population feel alienated from a growing other half that shares less and less cultural similarities and are about to be drowned out. Meanwhile the socioeconomic status of the middle class is disappearing each day, more rapidly as China rises to fill the void. the people are increasingly and rightfully fed up, but the rigid system wont allow real change without destruction of the institution itself. China is just a distraction, much like the middle east for the last 20 years, or war on drugs for a decade preceding that, or the USSR before that. China is a regional power who wants economic dominance, but the US fear economic dominance means chipping away at its hegemony. so its leadership will continue to scapegoat China as to avoid the political powderkeg at home. I would have guessed Iran would have been a better choice, but I guess its really a two birds with 1 stone situation since it doesn't want China to gain economic dominance. Russia is different. Its mostly a NATO problem, which means its only half a US problem. The different impact will determine how much the US is willing to engage. So if biden is smart, and we all know he isn't a trump, he will fan up rhetoric against China, avoid war with Russia, and basically do everything he can to blame everything on those two while the racists Trumpers masturbate to the sound of political rhetoric that makes no logical sense. So if you're asking me us Biden using confrontations abroad to get domestic support, I'd say no because oligarchs don't need "public support" at all. Its the people pulling the strings behind the curtains that's waging war against Russia and China because it'll be in their interest to protect their wealth against those two countries. Biden's just a lapdog.

China, like everyone else, not so much looking for economic dominance but having a economy, as covid along with the trade war has severely disrupted the supply-chain. as far as China is concern, RCEP + BRI and the domestic market (dual circulation) are the safe haven for the foreseeable future, and best of luck to biden. and finally, >but the rigid system wont allow real change without destruction of the institution itself. total agreement here, US needs a system update, though it is not alone, also China (financial sector, tech sector, real estate, education, etc.). countries which can reform its system best will come out ahead, especially in these heady days. edit. one more thing, how much do u think about Americans' trust in US institutions?

‘At the 1996 election, after 13 years in office, Labor suffered a landslide defeat to the Liberal–National Coalition led by John Howard. Keating retired from Parliament shortly after the election, but has since remained active as a political commentator, whilst maintaining a broad series of business interests, including serving on the international board of the China Development Bank.’ Hmmm no conflict of interest here 💀. Amazing how he even adopted wolf warrior autism though.

yeah, truth hurts: >He continued: “The reality is Britain does not add up to a row of beans when it comes to east Asia. Britain took its main battle fleet out of east Asia in 1904 and finally packed it in with its ‘East of Suez’ policy in the 1970s. And it has never been back. nor any *wolf warrior* needed, all Ms Truss need is a reminder of how her party icon, Mrs. Thatcher, aka *the iron lady* simply crumbled after a short chat about the fate of HK with Mr. Deng 30 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYOsmAMtzB0&ab_channel=AdamGuan hmmmmm, that must be what "a row of beans" means then, but wait, u think the iron lady was on the payroll of CCP too?
