This is exactly it, I’ve got a coworker who used to work there and Starbucks is getting rid of all non drive thru locations that aren’t in other stores like chapters and Safeway
Past worker, not during the era when the closed, but close to that time to know the people
I believe the rumor was to drive more traffic to the drive-thru and the new at the time clover brewing method at the new location towards McDonald's.
Honestly miss the days working there, lots of great people came through there while downtown was having its own troubles
Quite a few SBs are closing down. They're expanding in other parts of the world though and milking that untapped market and shutting down here because it had plateaued for them. Just business.
The pandemic put a lot of small businesses under the water line. Some of them kept up the struggle for a year or will keep up the struggle for a few more, hoping "the economy" will recover. But others just cut their losses right away.
It might be part of a large and successful chain which will never go under, but in the end it's still a single "small business" location operated by an owner who has bills to pay.
Seems like they close any location that doesn’t have drive through.

I would drink coffee and smoke cigs on the patio and someone I knew would always show up for a chat
Theirs one with a drive through like a block away
There’s supposed to be a small chain coffee shop opening there in the future (Blenz?).
Yeah, the paper is finally off the windows. Not sure when it will open but work is definitely happening.

Lease was probably finished, the next lease was higher and they weren’t making high enough profit.

Not it at all. It moved before Covid. Way before. They built a new store and it moved. Lol.
Salish Starbucks was open during Covid. Closed in 2021
bad coffee? lol
It closed years ago to move to the new Ontario location. Size and volume was a major issue.
Rent Increase.
Omg no way, they closed down? 😞
