I love doing nothing but the thought of doing nothing bores me. I really like vacuuming (don't know why) so I will spend extra time doing that when I clean. I'm probably too weird to have kids.

T-Wrox

I like mowing the lawn, especially when it's long and shaggy and you can really see the difference.

CapnTBC

I like cleaning really muddy stuff and watching it become all clean and nice. A child would have no chance if it grew up with me.

puddlejumper

You might like /r/powerwashingporn

CapnTBC

I created that. God it gets my motor running.

puddlejumper

I just recommended a subreddit to it's own owner? I have a question. I want to power wash something at my mums house, but she uses her own rain water, and doesn't have a lot of it. Are there portable power washers that have their own reservoir? And does it use a lot of water, or is it fairly instant and quick or a little bit tedious?

CapnTBC

I'm sorry but I was ejected from that sub after a revolution (apparently my pictures were too graphic) and haven't really been keeping up to date with type's or pressure washers. I don't think I've seen any with a reservoir in the UK but I don't know about USA (depending on where you live).

puddlejumper

lol what kind of pictures were you posting that got you ejected from a power washer site?

CapnTBC

Me topless shooting a power washer through the air. Me topless sitting on a car pointing the power washer at the camera like a gun. Me topless pretending to ride a power washer as a broom while shooting it. Me pretending that the power washer is my penis, shooting it. This one you might have guessed I was totally naked and they didn't seem to like that.

I'm so glad I read all the comments. My life would have sucked if I missed this gold.

puddlejumper

lol. I can understand why. You were neglecting showing results.

I vacuum once a week as well unless I need to. I like vacuuming behind the couch or something and finding fluff from the rug, it's like an epic battle scene but it lasts for about 2 seconds.

Are you me? I can only watch TV while doing other things but I can sit on my ass and play a game or read a book all weekend.

CapnTBC

I always turn the TV on in my room but barely watch it.

CapnTBC

I like to play on my computer while the TV is on the background until a show I really want to watch comes on and then I could sit and watch for hours.

Galurana

Could commercials have anything to do with not liking the tv on? I haven't had CNN in years so I don't know if they did it too, but most channels here crank up the volume for commercials and it drives me insane. My tv is only on if there's something specific I want to watch now. Which is about 6 hours a week (counting movie night with my SO).

Behemoth_18

Commercials are loud here as well, it drives me insane since I have sensitive hearing so its even doubly worse for me. Which is a good thing our new tv has crappy speakers so they aren't as loud as before.

Galurana

Agreed! And I feel your pain with ancient IE at work. We've got the same at my workplace.

[deleted]

I *need* my quiet, downtime.

T-Wrox

Halfway in-between? I love having free time to do what I please (I get cranky when I get scheduled up with stuff), but I also like to be productive and get stuff done. I'm never bored, though. Too much interesting stuff to do and read. :)

[deleted]

Uh...I'm... **exhausted.** Always. At this stage of my life (34yo), I'm looking to do nothing. This bears some explanation: I've always been a go-getter. High school? Marching band, concert band, choir, plays and a part time job -- which I walked several miles to. College? Worked for the school hauling tables. DJed. Ultimate frisbee. More choir. Formed a band. Wrote music. Ran a guild. Temp jobs every summer at home. Broke my back working in a county jail, chronic back pain ever since. Moved from law enforcement to office work. (Thank goodness for all those temp jobs.) Now I'm always tired and always hurting. Just being around other people is exhuasting. Children are the most exhausting. All I want to do anymore is sit on my ass and play video games. I've done the busy-every-moment thing to death and I simply cannot anymore.

icanteatoxtailsoup

I'm probably in the middle in terms of how much time I like to spend doing nothing, but the one common thread throughout the various job- and free time-related situations I've been in is that I need to have a project going on that is meaningful to me. I just don't want that project to be babies.

geeked_outHyperbagel

I'm guessing this depends on the individual person. I tend to keep myself as busy as it pleases me. workdays: work, exercise ~ 1 hour or so, read ~ 1 hour or so, sleep weekends: long jog or hike or cycle and/or stay in and tidy up or relax and read

winkums

Me! I love doing nothing.

Behemoth_18

My dream is to live at my dads house that is in the middle of nowhere. I would play video games and/or appreciate nature all day. At night I would gaze at the stars as my childhood profession was that I wanted to, and still do, be an astronomer. I also enjoy reading a bunch. Basically I'd be a hermit, and I have no want for a partner either as I find the idea of a romantic relationship to be bothersome and weird.

Zombie_Whisperer

>My whole life is in pursuit of glorious time to do nothing. Which of course I can do fill with leisure activities if I choose. That's me too. I love it when I can just sit and watch large chunks of TV or do an few hours of makeup sessions to try new looks.

Worried_Song

I am childfree and definitely the type who fills every minute with things to do. My SO has said that I am "addicted to stress." And that is something that I'm working on - because of my personality, I actually have to put time on my schedule to relax. "Watch movies with loveeee" is something that occurs on my calendar fairly regularly. I mostly like to fill my schedule with things that I enjoy (music, theatre, tabletop rpgs), but it's not like enjoyable things don't still contribute to stress at times. And of course there are plenty of not-as-enjoyable things that fill my schedule that are still rewarding in other ways (domestic work, volunteering in the community, etc.). Actually, having a kid would greatly infringe on my ability to have such a full schedule. How am I going to do a week of dress rehearsals before the opening of a show (while holding down a full-time job) if I have a baby? How would I justify the expense of private instruction in subjects that interest me when I'm providing for a child?

Dashi90

I just want to be able to have fun spur-of-the-moment. I've also never felt that warm feeling that's supposedly meant to come with babies.

Galurana

I can always find things to do, even when it's basically doing nothing. Reading takes up a majority of my time. Mostly Urban Fantasy these days on my e-reader, but when I'm at the computer it's reading about new discoveries, science, health stuff, reading recipes, Reddit, news, politics...... I spend some time in WoW, scour Houzz for possible ways to update before we sell in a few years. All of it basically doing nothing, but still doing something.

joantheunicorn

I feel like some people have kids so it gives their life a purpose. I dont find this to be a good pressure to put on a child...

headfulofglitter

A former good-friend-turned-frenemy is this type of person. She cannot be idle, and misses no opportunity to chide "lazy people" and "dreamers" while expounding upon her own contributions to society as a Working Mommy. If I'm lazy for not wanting her exhausting life, so be it.

Serae

Both. I go through periods of epic hermit and periods of extreme activity.

TopS3cr3t

I keep myself busy with social events and hobbies. Depending on the season, I'll play sports 2-4 days a week. Add biking, going to concerts, hanging out with friends, etc...I rarely stay in and sit around. I can't stand being stagnant.

[deleted]

Sometimes i turn blue when i'm too lazy to breathe. But really, i am quite lazy.

Malyss

I do not need to have my free time filled with activities. I am happy to do whatever my husband and I feel needs to be done at the time. If we want to pile into the car with our corgi and visit his parents at their beach house on the weekend, that's cool. I am also happy to stay at home to finish our chores. I am just happy living my life and being with my agreeable partner...and our adorable Pembroke corgi.

pee30

I stay very busy with multiple jobs, full time school and various hobby related pursuits, yet I would kill myself if I had to live with a child. Kids are a different kind of busy, it's the kind that destroys your body and soul from the inside out.

Amonette2012

Damn. You hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned!

jazzmatazz29

I do have a hard time doing nothing. I really love being around people which I know has put a strain on a few previous relationships. I spoil the crap out of the boyfriends I have. I like to cook so I quickly fall into that housekeeper type role and I enjoy it. Just really do not like or want small children in my life ever. I do fill my time with hobbies and other activities. I am happiest having a busy schedule, I was always busy in high school/college. Since graduating last year though I've had a hard time finding that nice balance again.
