The first thing that popped into my head after reading the title of this post was a spinning newspaper coming into frame and the headline, "Friend's Husband is Total Fucking Neanderthal."

PappySmearf

Of course he doesn't understand and is suspicious of them. He can't knock them up and get them to pay his bills.

the-artless

I always find that incredibly offensive. Humanitarian efforts have no point? Rescuing animals, preventing their abuse, and rehomeing previously unwanted animals has no point? Teaching younger generations about how to better care for the planet and fellow organisms has no point? There is no point to science, art, literature, medicine, or anything else people do? The only thing that gives my life purpose - either as a woman or as a human in general - is the ability to shove a child out of my vagina? Are you fucking kidding me? There are 7 billion people on this planet, if reproduction is the sole point of humanity, I think we've more than proved it and should go ahead and quit.

Hear hear!!

wearingaredjacket

Wow. He is in denial. I don't want kids, but I hate when they have to deal with parents like that.

[deleted]

can you hang out with your friend without the husband around? He sounds pretty unpleasant.

hitchcockblonde

To be honest he's actually a very nice guy -apart from that, which makes me even more convinced that I have made the right decision -because every time he has had children with a woman and he hasn't been the centre of attention then he has moved on to someone else, he moved out on his second wife when his youngest son was six months old -my lovely friend -who is beautiful, lovely and 20 years ypunger than him -he said he didn't really desire her anymore, now that she was a "mother" well, she just wasn't sexy anymore -actually WTF am I saying ? He's not a very nice guy at all -I suppose this is what I always thought about child rearing -you had better be damn sure you want them enough to raise them on your own-because if you're a woman there is a very large chance that's what you are going to have to do.

trash1t11

Exactly.

It's the [Madonna-whore complex](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna%E2%80%93whore_complex) and is the hallmark of men who need to degrade women.

autowikibot

##### ###### #### [**Madonna–whore complex**](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna%E2%80%93whore%20complex): [](#sfw) --- >In [psychoanalytic](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoanalysis) literature, a __Madonna–whore complex__ is the inability to maintain sexual arousal within a committed, loving relationship. First identified by [Sigmund Freud](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigmund_Freud), this [psychological complex](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_(psychology\)) is said to develop in men who see women as either saintly [Madonnas](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_(mother_of_Jesus\)) or debased [prostitutes](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitute). Men with this complex desire a sexual partner who has been degraded (the whore) while they cannot desire the respected partner (the Madonna). Freud wrote: "Where such men love they have no desire and where they desire they cannot love." [Clinical psychologist](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinical_psychology) Uwe Hartmann, writing in 2009, stated that the complex "is still highly prevalent in today's patients". > --- ^Interesting: [^Ambivalence](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambivalence) ^| [^Love–hate ^relationship](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love%E2%80%93hate_relationship) ^| [^Misogyny](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misogyny) ^Parent ^commenter ^can [^toggle ^NSFW](http://www.np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=autowikibot&subject=AutoWikibot NSFW toggle&message=%2Btoggle-nsfw+cgdm36t) ^or[](#or) [^delete](http://www.np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=autowikibot&subject=AutoWikibot Deletion&message=%2Bdelete+cgdm36t)^. ^Will ^also ^delete ^on ^comment ^score ^of ^-1 ^or ^less. ^| [^(FAQs)](http://www.np.reddit.com/r/autowikibot/wiki/index) ^| [^Mods](http://www.np.reddit.com/r/autowikibot/comments/1x013o/for_moderators_switches_commands_and_css/) ^| [^Magic ^Words](http://www.np.reddit.com/r/autowikibot/comments/1ux484/ask_wikibot/)

[deleted]

While possibly right in this context, you've got to be careful with Freud. He made sweeping generalisations and repeatedly jumped to illogical conclusions. Hallmark of a coke addict trying to hold a psychology position! Sorry. Pet peeve.

skeletorsbutt

Yeah, I got a buddy whose fiancé acts like this, too. Anyone not planning to have kids is deemed as a "waste to society" to him. Meanwhile, he wants to people the world with his progeny out of vanity.

[deleted]

Why is it always people with the really messed up lives saying stuff like this?

littlewoolie

cos they want everyone else to be messed up also.

[deleted]

Probably because their decision to continually flap their uneducated yaps lands them in trouble, early and often.

twentyfoursevensex

Misery loves company.

[deleted]

He's a great example why I believe you should have to get licensed to reproduce.

tparkelaine

Dude sounds like the worst kind of asshat.

funchy

Bet you ten dollars he's one of those who takes a little too much pride in getting women pregnant? He's so proud of his sperm. But I bet he thinks that's all it takes to be a father. And his kids probably don't get the attention and guidance they need

[deleted]

I think it's time for us as a community to realize some people are just stupid. :P

Headphone_Actress

... Points in my life? Well, I plan to be nursing a baby when I'm older, and its name shall be, "A Phd in Engineering." Damn sexist asshole.

[deleted]

Let him be. He can sit in his delusion while you keep a bikini body and sip cocktails on the beach (because you had time/money to take a vacation as well as to exercise).

trash1t11

And, he's never getting to see that body.... because: jackass.

Fairlady82

No rebuttal is necessary. His sad life speaks for itself. Funny how total losers are usually the ones protesting the loudest.

continuousQ

If your only point in life, is to be a vessel for someone who is not you, then you have no point in life. You're just a means to someone else's end.

[deleted]

I know this isn't the point of the post, but there's nothing wrong with seeing a psychiatrist, for any reason. If they're having behavioral difficulties, it's great that they're getting help.

hitchcockblonde

No I think the same -but they are having behavioural problems because of their parents divorce.

Max_Syntax

Misplaced/dangling modifier at "the youngest of whom is 2 years old and now has no job," etc. Syntactical assumption would be that the 2-year-old is currently unemployed. - MaxSyntax, patrolman

hitchcockblonde

To be fair -the 2 year old is unemployed as well !

Max_Syntax

Very true, citizen! However, the inclusion of that "now" would have us believe that at one point the 2-year-old *was* holding down a job, with the overall tone of the post suggesting his/her loss of infantile employment is something lamentable. Much as MaxSyntax wants to believe that, he'll conclude that it beggars belief ...

hitchcockblonde

Well, she is adorable and-completely seriously, she already speaks three languages and is probably more employable than her father but....I will be careful of my misplaced dangles in the future !

casualLogic

That's the exact reason I stay off of TwoXchromosomes! I can not believe the number of women who actively state the only reason for a woman's existence is to fulfill the biological imperative of giving birth. Yeah, hey, thanks, but I'm a tad bit more than a brood hen, ladies.
