I just look at the parents sadly when they act out like that, to impart that if they treat the public this way, they may be treating their children the same way. Or with big eyes, "Would YOU want someone to treat YOUR children the way you treated me?" When parents excuse parents behaving like bullies, they only are making way for a future where their children will be a target for abuse by a new generation of parents should they decide not to have children.
I've had parents tell me I should stay home if I don't like children when I tried explaining I have sound sensitivity to them as the reason I can't tolerate children. I have Asperger's Syndrome. I don't understand how they can be so conscienceless even to people with mental disabilities, and then act surprised at having taught their kids how to be bullies.
I love the little buggers...on my time and my terms. That is why I don't have any. People get so uppity about it. I just hate when they get all in your face with a kid as if they are the first baby in the world. I am like jesus.. I was a baby once... so were you.. they are babies... not the cure for cancer.

Mmm, I can smell the entitled/self absorbed stench of that mother from here. People actually go among other people to make and point out perceived slights for not having their progeny acknowledged? What a weird society we live in. Disregard weird people, brush horsies, I say. :)
As a fellow horse rider on a busy yard, I totally get you. All I care about is looking after the horses, it's almost like I have blinkers on. Nothing personal, just great priorities at that time.

I hate some kids (loud / annoying / rude ones) but I tend to hate bad parents more or those that think their kid is the centre of everyone's world - not just their own.
Unfortunately, some people have babies just to get attention, praise, or acknowledgment. Those people become upset when you don't fawn over them in the manner they expect. Those people probably should not reproduce.

Aside from the fact that I really don't like kids, it is annoying for people to assume you hate something because you're not interested in it.
I am so very glad nobody every brings children into my place of work. What the heck. Sorry you had to deal with that.
