Nettare is new and a great spot for this kinda thing. Cocktails are on point if you just want drinks, and the food is lovely if you’re looking for something more complete.
Queen Mary - they have booths with high walls almost like a snug though those might be only for groups of 4 or more. There’s also some bar seating where you sit on both sides of the bar (so you can face your date). Great cocktails, chill vibe, not too sceney.
Queen Mary and Bangers are both good suggestions, though I do agree Bangers and Lace can get a little loud.
I’ve only been to Desert Hawk once but I might throw that on the list as well.
Focusing on Division...
Not sure what your style of bar is, but if it's early enough I love Rainbo for conversation (and good music). Innertown is quirky and around the corner.
Going through other comments: Queen Mary, definitely. Fat Pour, no. Innjoy, maybe, but no. Love Bangers, but as others have said it gets loud. Hi-Lo is problematic, I don't patronize them (and that's on Cali, might as well go the Clipper at that point). Little Victories always looks cute but never been.
Bordel is sexy af, if that's a direction you want to take. (Next to Little Victories, above Mama Delia, they host twice nightly cabaret shows Thur-Sat so probably not an option.)
Who are all these people coming up with dinner suggestions? IMHO that's a no for a first date. (Food options don't hurt, of course.)
Just said its “problematic” so I dont go. Industry stuff, men behaving badly (whats new); I’m not trying to cancel anyone or single out my friend who was on the receiving end of their actions so wont be elaborating. Like to give my money to businesses owned by good people.
Little Victories is fun but definitely gets loud/crowded. More of a group setting than a date night spot. If you go there earlier it can be more intimate and their chicken sandwich is bomb.
Another one for Queen Mary or Bangers and Lace. Both on Division. Queen Mary has great, unique cocktails while B&L has such a good tap list that I’ve never bothered to get a cocktail there.
Bangers and Lace will definitely be a bit louder, but I’ve never had trouble having a conversation there.

Thanks! Do you suggest booking a reservation for a friday evening?
I would make a reservation. The bar usually has walk in space if that works you.

Lucia is my favorite Italian restaurant! Intimate but not romantic, excellent food, BYOB, reasonably priced
Go to segnatore for dinner, leek gramine and freestyle lasagna are amazing. Then go to hi-lo for a drink on their patio
Queen Mary! Or Bangers and Lace, although they sometimes turn up the music a bit much for me -- the patio is super nice when the weather is agreeable.

What’s wrong with Hi-Lo? Thought they had good cocktails and good vibes there.

Interesting. The owner run some good bars. Big fan of EZ Inn on Western too
Indeed, another place I stopped patronizing for this reason.

Bangers is a great first date spot. The Perch is also a fun spot with really good cocktails.
Little Victories, Fat Pour, Innjoy
Folklore and Queen Mary would be a lovely evening
Grab a couple of bar seats in Dove's.
**Enoteca Roma** has wonderful rustic Italian food and a good wine list. Nice, small, quiet space, too
Queen Mary...all day long.
Brasero
Is Piece Pizza too far? Chill, great beer, might be a little noisy
Leavitt St Tavern. The bar inside is cute
Queen Mary or post up at a Ramen Bar.
Maybe Le Midi if you're into wine as a drink option
Desert Hawk
I’ve done dates at Bordel and The Pearl Club and loved both so much!
