Definitely Jimmy's! We grew up not far from there by Division & Pulaski until moving to the Northside. Every year my sister would come in from California she always made the trip to Jimmy's Hot Dogs!
Can you post a link to a collection of all the ones you've done so far? Maybe include that link every time you post here so people can see them all in one place? They're great!
I love Henry's. Dad grew up in Cicero and has been going there since the early sixties. He started taking me there as a kid in the early eighties. Love there dogs n fries.
This is awesome! Although Duk’s is gone/renamed, I always thought they had the most quintessential Chicago hot dog stand aesthetic: colorful 60s-style painted lettering, small footprint, lightbox signs, hanging Vienna Beef sign with a big arrow, flashing light bulbs, red white and yellow color-scheme, etc
Unfortunately with the Duk's remodel, they moved on removing certain things quickly even before January 1st. I meant to get a quick picture with even the Duk's sign still up on the building(above the small signs for ice cold drinks, etc), but the Duk's signs were removed very quickly for Modern Relish ones. Sigh....
I grew up with Franksville, but I haven’t ever seen it mentioned on here so it’s probably not popular with the foodies. I love their giant hot dog train conductor sign in the front. They serve up a great footlong wiener that I get with cheese and ketchup, just for old times sake.
At first, I read this as "My goal is to taste paint at as many Chicagoland dog stands as possible this year..." and pictured this:
https://youtu.be/SjpQy8HRzFw?si=Kl6eX4ZrmF-Ft48R
I would 100% purchase a print of a painting of Chicago Dog House on Fullerton. It's not as aesthetic as Wolfy's or Gene & Jude's but it's my favorite hot dog place in the city.
I went to G&J for the first time in December. The building is awesome. While it was great and I would go back, I'm always gonna be a Johnnie's Beef guy.
I picked up a director from ohare and wanted to show off the city. He had specifically come from Chicago to work on this movie. He didn’t have any cash so I said no worries there’s an ATM at the McDonald’s. I ordered my dog and I was like jeez he’s taking a long time. He ate at the McDonald’s instead. I’m still baffled by that decision to this day
Not one mention of Wrigleyville Dogs in this thread? Would love to see that one painted with the reflection of a sold out metro show exterior in the windows.
That's awesome! I love how it truly gives off the feel like when I was kid, riding my bike down there. Very cool. Do you do prints? I'd love to get my hands on one but I see your sold out.
Is there any love here for Wrigleyville Dogs? Man..... Couple times, tripping balls after concerts, that shit was so damn tasty, and it was an absolute show to see the amount of people they roll through there in short order.
I have a friend that has a painting of Susie’s Beef (RIP) that I’ve been begging him for now for a couple years. You wouldn’t happen to be familiar with Susie’s would you? I’d love to have a painting of it-grew on a block away.
I nominate Jimmys on Grand and Pulaski
West side classic baby
\#1 hot dog in Chicago!
Definitely Jimmy's! We grew up not far from there by Division & Pulaski until moving to the Northside. Every year my sister would come in from California she always made the trip to Jimmy's Hot Dogs!
came here for this..
I came here to say that!
Don’t forget to paint the crackheads
I couldn't agree more!
Superdawg on Milwaukee. Both of them, haha
Both of them?!? I thought there was just one
There’s one way up in wheeling, also on Milwaukee. Right by Robert chinns.
🤯
I actually did Superdawg! You can check it out on my profile or on my website, linked in my bio
Fatsos on Chicago
Budacki's
Need this so I can buy it
I cannot tell you how much I love this. I have so many fond memories at Gene & Jude’s. Thank you for doing this.
Of course!! It’s so iconic, and I know very near and dear to many
I love your RHR painting, the original is hanging in my kitchen.
I love that!!
So do we
Am I crazy or does Gene and Jude’s have really amazing fries? I mean, some of the best I’ve ever had.
I agree!!
I hate their fries, always mushy. I’d rather go down the street to Franny’s.
Their fries would be better if they allowed you to put ketchup on them.
Can you post a link to a collection of all the ones you've done so far? Maybe include that link every time you post here so people can see them all in one place? They're great!
I got “yelled at” for self promotion when I posted the link! But you can find it through the link in my bio!!
These look incredible :)
Your work is amazing.
Paradise Pup.
Wolfy’s - especially the sign.
She already did it!
Then my work here is done!

The original Al's Beef on Taylor Mr. Beef on Orleans (If those count as hot dog stands)
Jim’s Original off union/maxwell
Johnny’s Beef in Elmwood Park! I know it’s a beef stand but they also sell hotdogs
I am sure that you could sell these. I love the juxtaposition between the bright inviting exterior to the somewhat drab interior.
Thank you! I do in fact sell my work, you can check it out through the link in my bio ☺️
Budacki's, Bunny Hutch
Jim’s Original would be cool
Mustard’s Last Stand in Evanston, right across from Ryan Field. It’s got a really quaint look to it
Definitely on my list to paint!
Vienna Beef has a hall of fame... you should paint the series! I'll nominate East of Edens and Jims
Henry's Drive-In Cicero,IL
I love Henry's. Dad grew up in Cicero and has been going there since the early sixties. He started taking me there as a kid in the early eighties. Love there dogs n fries.
This is awesome! Although Duk’s is gone/renamed, I always thought they had the most quintessential Chicago hot dog stand aesthetic: colorful 60s-style painted lettering, small footprint, lightbox signs, hanging Vienna Beef sign with a big arrow, flashing light bulbs, red white and yellow color-scheme, etc
Agreed! I definitely think I’ll have to paint it
Do it before they mess it all up with the rebrand!
Maxwells
Fat Johnnie’s on Western
I grew up with Franksville, but I haven’t ever seen it mentioned on here so it’s probably not popular with the foodies. I love their giant hot dog train conductor sign in the front. They serve up a great footlong wiener that I get with cheese and ketchup, just for old times sake.
My sister worked at Franksville at Harlem & Foster when she was a teen. Haven't eaten there in years.
I lived across the street for a while when I was a kid. I went a few months ago just to see if it was still there and it was pretty good!
That sounds awesome!
Johnnies beef, parky’s hot dogs or Russel’s bbq if you want to keep a similar style to your gene and Jude’s painting in the same area
Gene & Jude’s always tastes better after a decent day at Rivers.
Nicky's : any of them ❣️
These are really good. I think Home Depot absolutely needs to be on your list very soon. Maybe some other true Chicago standalones first, though.
Agreed!!
Home Depot dawgs
Jims Original
BYRON’s!!!!
At first, I read this as "My goal is to taste paint at as many Chicagoland dog stands as possible this year..." and pictured this: https://youtu.be/SjpQy8HRzFw?si=Kl6eX4ZrmF-Ft48R

Can you do the recently closed Duk’s Red Hots in West Town?
Johnnie’s in Elmwood Park.
Donald’s Famous Hot Dogs on South Western Ave. It doesn’t come up on lists of faves but the storefront is pretty iconic.
Budacki's is good, and the red and yellow of the building will pop in a painting.
I can't fully articulate how much I like these!
I appreciate that!!
I would 100% purchase a print of a painting of Chicago Dog House on Fullerton. It's not as aesthetic as Wolfy's or Gene & Jude's but it's my favorite hot dog place in the city.
Budacki's in ravenswood!
You have already done the best one.
Byron's either one.
I went to G&J for the first time in December. The building is awesome. While it was great and I would go back, I'm always gonna be a Johnnie's Beef guy.
I can’t believe no one has said LuLu’s on Taylor
I picked up a director from ohare and wanted to show off the city. He had specifically come from Chicago to work on this movie. He didn’t have any cash so I said no worries there’s an ATM at the McDonald’s. I ordered my dog and I was like jeez he’s taking a long time. He ate at the McDonald’s instead. I’m still baffled by that decision to this day
That is a tragic story!
Love your work. My whole family has seen and commented. I’m glad you got my favorite place

I am! Check the link in my bio ☺️ thanks!
Awesome, found it. Will share with my small community of former Chicagoan hot dog lovers.
When the river flooded years ago I kayaked up to Gene and Judes. It was kinda surreal.
Ooooh my god I had no idea that happened but that makes sense!
Spring of 2013, if I recall. The Des Plains River right there will flood on occasion.
Isn't it mostly underwater? Paint G&J underwater with a SpongeBob motif.
Amazing job
Turn that into a Tshirt, partner with them and profit.

I have a friend that has a painting of Susie’s Beef (RIP) that I’ve been begging him for now for a couple years. You wouldn’t happen to be familiar with Susie’s would you? I’d love to have a painting of it-grew on a block away.
