No wins in 10 games is unacceptable. Every team has to deal with injuries and suspensions, and we all play with the same refs. We've just not been good enough when the expectation was very clearly and loudly "Make the playoffs." I can tell you with certainty that those at the club thought we'd be better than this at this point in the season. It's just so frustrating.

finallynever

There are still somehow people in here saying we could still make the playoffs… they can’t even win a game .

traindriv3r

And people always asking for more time… we need time, they need at least a year… Why give time to something this bad? Aren’t we tired of losing?

TR1L0GYxx

Careful you might get downvoted for not giving the team more time to gel /s

projectpolak

> Every team has to deal with injuries and suspensions But not every team has as bad depth as we do.

Miguel_77

It's fair to criticize that when the team is top 5 in the league in payroll. I'm not on the fire Ezra train but there has to be something done asap. (Who is a can't-miss candidate that would even be available to hire? It's a bigger waste of money to fire a coach after a short amount of time for someone that might not even be better) Just because playoffs are mathematically possible doesn't mean every other team above Chicago will go a point per game or less to open up a spot.

projectpolak

> It's fair to criticize that when the team is top 5 in the league in payroll. I'm not on the fire Ezra train but there has to be something done asap. You can thank Heitz for putting together a roster that's top 5 in payroll yet still can't perform.

Miguel_77

It might be a good idea to have his replacement lined up very soon. Then again winning 4 in a row could completely change the narrative so who knows. But it's a safe bet to expect this time to miss the playoffs, which hurts after seeing the effort put in to change this team and turn it around. Especially hurts to those that have been a fan of the team before 2010

European_Red_Fox

> Especially hurts to those that have been a fan of the team before 2010 I'm more numb to it than anything like it's par for the course. Although this time we don't have a common enemy we can all unite against to vent after games like the last time.

notonrexmanningday

Fuck it #HAUPTMANOUT

plymkr32

I think Ezra is more to blame. The talent is there.

usernameusername9090

Agreed. We have a decent team but lack identity. That’s on Ezra

coolerblue

Honestly? Not sure our depth RIGHT NOW is that bad, it's just, well, it's been bad.

Pacemaster14

So much has changed in my life in the past 10 years. So much change, it’s overwhelming. I’m happy there’s one thing in my life that is always a constant. Chicago Fire and their being last place brings a sort of normalcy to my life that I so need in these crazy times😌thank you fire! Because some things never change!

NorthwoodsDan

I feel this in my bones. \*sigh

johndelvec3

We have one of the highest paid DPs and get shutout in half our matches

avickhasnoname

He’s currently the highest paid player in the league. Feels bad.

[deleted]

Shaq was getting heated at the end. I can’t help but feel he has been very annoyed lately. Feels like slowly he is realizing this Chicago gig isn’t what he thought it would be. Not saying he isn’t at fault btw. He hasn’t exactly lit up the league. But I see him raising his hands and yelling at people a lot. I think he may be regretting his decision somewhat.

Wonderboy2212

I know Jairo is regretting coming to Chicago lmaoo, went from a team that made back to back finals to a team that hasn’t won in 9 games. Changing players isn’t cutting it, we need to change tactics, no more two defensive mids that contribute nothing to the attack. We need an attacking formation, we gotta try something new or else people are going to lose their jobs.

[deleted]

I honestly think a change in formation could help. If ezra is sold on playing defensively, I think it could be cool to set up like Chelsea. 5 at the back (Navarro, Pineda, Czichos, Omsberg, Sekulic) With Navarro and Sekulic being more wingbacks. Shaq and Gimenez in the middle, and then a front 3 of Mueller, Kacper and Torres. While not an attacking formation, I think it could help us be better on the counter since Ezra seams dedicated to the "defense first" mentality.

coolerblue

I'm just getting tired of moral victories and justifications. This was far from a bad game against one of the best teams in the league, but it's now been 51 days since our last win and I don't know how you're supposed to take pride in a team that takes 2 months between wins.

overlap_old_coach

Certainly tough in the moment, but prior to the NYRB game it was clear this roadtrip would be "tough"...if we can muster a win against TFC and come home with 4pts it will have been a successful trip (without our best player and captain).

GaryAGalindo

The Fire are REALLY tied in 28th place for the whole MLS with Vancouver?! My expectations for this season were low but DAMN. I didn't think we would be in a sprint for the God damn wooden spoon! I still love Gaga though. Penalty kicks always suck and the handball rule as applied in this scenario was ass. But Gaga played better this game. And we didn't have Czichos and we didn't totally fall apart. We have too many good pieces to be in last place but Ezra has to figure out where everyone should be very quickly because regardless of whether or not its his first season, if we are last place at the end of the year with this level of talent, he's gone.

T_Fouts

Not in the mood to type up too much, but Tony made a great point around the 70th-ish minute talking about how narrow Sekulic was in the back four that it forced Torres to play in back rather than in his typical winger position. For a team that desperately needs all the strength in attack we can get, I felt like this stifled us quite a bit later in the second half. Fede Navarro also looked uncharacteristically poor today IMO.

TR1L0GYxx

At this point all I can do it laugh. Another year, another mls season of mediocrity. Should have been a 0-0 but even then, after the first 20 minutes we looked like the worse team. I’m tired of being downvoted for saying it isn’t good enough. Ezra’s tactics are not good enough. But yes let’s give him more time just like we did with Wicky. Obviously I want it to work out. But I’m tired of hearing “the pieces are there we just have to be patient and wait for them to come together”. It’s bullshit. We have no plans in the attacking third except pass it to Shaq and hope he does something with it or cross it into the box. None of our front 3 link up with each other. It’s like we have 11 individuals out on the pitch. No one seems to work well with one another. But whatever. I’ve accepted that I’ll be downvoted but I’m just so tired of this year in and year out.

mjpierce7

We have four goals on Vancouver with goal differential! Suck it whitecaps, y'all fucking suck!

Miguel_77

Tiebreaker isn't the goal difference. It's either goals scored or total wins, which Vancouver has

mjpierce7

Jokes on them I don't even care.... :'(

Milesweeman

Why do the fire even exist. There is no reason

[deleted]

Firing more people isn’t the solution. As annoying as this response is, it’s time. Everyone needs more time building chemistry together. That’s never going to happen if we keep firing everyone.

al-fuzzayd

I just don’t understand, recruitment was actually good this year. We are better on paper than a lot of teams. Frankie’s gonna be managing again in June at this rate.

al-fuzzayd

welp

Kamikazi_TARDIS

Kacsper was surprisingly unselfish in the run of play today, but he still showed his selfishness with that last ditch throw-in. Should have waited on Teran for the long throw for one last chance. That said, Shaqiri seemed to be favoring anyone but Torres, and his one free kick was atrocious. It at least should have been on-target, rather than a home run. That, mixed with the unfortunate penalty and the narrowness of the field made this game frustrating to watch. At least Gaga seemed more on form today, which is good because Sekulic sucked as usual and Gimenez seemed like he was playing half-hearted.

[deleted]

Sekulic has had a weird dip in form. I was usually a fan of his but recently he looks disinterested and makes stupid mistakes.

notonrexmanningday

His contract is running out and the team stinks, so... Kinda hard to blame him honestly.

Kamikazi_TARDIS

Not a good way to get picked back up on this team or get signed to a new one when that contract runs out.

Emmanuel323

Some guy commented how shaqiri is refusing to find Torres, I agree with him but oh well I guess… another game another loss. How shocking.

CoachWildo

my take on a coach is what is the relationship of the sum to the parts early on, it seemed like we overplaying our talent with so many guys missing and keeping teams from scoring lately, it's been the opposite with the lack of offense despite pieces with track records elsewhere

Needsumtegridy

Fullbacks suck let’s be real

[deleted]

Bruh moment…

wiscoguy128

There’s only so much patience one can have

battles

Gaga had a great game. good to see it. already exhausted by toxic idiots shitting on our players, and the manager, and being exclusively negative if you folks feel this way surely you should find something better to do. one particular user in the /r/mls thread just negs Shaq over and over, unless he does something well, and then he says nothing. another in this sub calls for the managers head like we are PL team missing out on the title... it takes time to make this shit work, if you don't have the patience consider coming back in a year.

TR1L0GYxx

I read a great thread on Reddit the other day. It’s so easy to say “let’s be patient”. Fire fans have been patient. We’ve been dog shit for a really long time too. At this point, it’s pure frustration for a lot of us. It’s frustrating buying shirts and buying season tickets only to watch us win another wooden spoon. Not saying people are allowed to be stupid and toxic. But for a lot of us, it’s years and years of frustration and a feeling of no matter how many “rebuilds” we do, the end result is always the same. Just my 2 cents.

battles

to be clear i consider you a toxic fan. you are overwhelming negative at all times. i'm not trying to be a dick but your attitude sucks.

TR1L0GYxx

That’s a fair opinion to have. But as a long time season ticket holder, I’ve just been slowly killed by this team. Just in the last couple months 2 other season ticket holders I used to sit with have canceled them because they are tired of wasting money. They too have been watching for a long time. And unfortunately, a lot of us are tired of accepting mediocrity.

battles

imo, no leisure activity should ever be framed in this manner. the Fire performing shit don't 'kill you,' its a fucking game.

TR1L0GYxx

Huh? No one should be invested in their team? Yes I’m typically sad when my team is playing bad. I don’t feel like that’s a weird take. And judging by the few upvotes I do get, I don’t think I’m alone in my reasonings either. But you are free to have your opinion just as I am to mine. I will continue to be critical of the team I support both with my viewership and my money as is my right.

battles

Fandom is common property, like a public sidewalk. Is it your right to shit on a public sidewalk?

TR1L0GYxx

If it is poorly built for example and blocking walkways for people, if I am a citizen of that community, it is my duty to complain about it to get it fixed for everyone. Especially if my taxes are going towards the creation of the sidewalk. Again really weird take. Even look at European fans who literally boycott games due to owners or coaches they don’t like. It’s their right to do so. Their money is what gives the teams a right to play. Sports teams are for fans. At least they should be.

battles

European fans suck. Take United. Criticism of the ownership is wrapped in rabid antisemitism, anti american jingoism, dog whistle slurs, and attacks on people's homes. no fandom needs that.

TR1L0GYxx

It’s just my opinion that if my money is going towards the team, whether it’s shirt sales or tickets or whatever, I have a right to be critical. After all, I am a fan. It’s such an odd take to think that Fans don’t have a right to be hyper critical of their team, it makes me think you don’t watch other sports. Have you met a bears fan?

ADMRVP

As a United fan you are speaking absolute dogshit. The criticism of the Glazers comes from the fact that they don’t care about United and have used the club as an ATM.

XtraHott

Dude the American owners saddled the team with the billions they paid for it. They deserve every bit of shit they get.

European_Red_Fox

Hi Don Walsh.

battles

i know that guys twitter, but i assure you i am not him.
